Hi all,
Craig Sharpe has been in touch with Chris Smith following his guest lecture and is willing to offer work experience or other prizes and has this to say:
"Following my recent visit, by way of follow up, there is an opportunity to either gain a week work experience at Darlingtons Solicitors next summer or an engraved prize (student who wins chooses as I appreciate London is an expensive distance for many students) for the best reasonably short write up of the talk.
... If you want to take part, the deadline for submissions is 2 weeks from today. The article should be no more than 1000 words (but not less than 500) and should not regurgitate my talk please. It can refer to key points but I am looking to find out from entrants what they found useful and most importantly, how, if at all, you will approach your legal career and your thoughts and ideas. A key part of the competition also, for the winner, is use of initiative in getting the winning entry published on the University website and/or possibly elsewhere – this will demonstrate practical application of some of the most important aspects of the talk.
Please do let me know if you are entering. I am contacting all those who connected with me direct but the competition will be open to all.

This is a great way to develop and showcase your skills for future employers and invaluable for your CV! The semi final and final will be judged by solicitors and recruiters from Bond Dickinson. The winners shall receive £50 each and two days work experience at their Newcastle office. The runners up shall receive £25 each.
... The winners will have the opportunity to represent the University on a national level, aiming to be crowned the best interviewers in the country.
