We were served the prettiest (a piece of art with all the edible flowers and wonderful berries) waffle ever. The berries on the waffle were extremely delicious and ripe. There were other toppings including home made granola, cream and raspberry sauce (I think). The waffle was the highlight of my week. The fact that they serve loose leaf tea rather than the standard tea bags is wonderful.

We popped in for the first time on Saturday - and it won't be the last! I loved *everything*, from the friendly staff, to the gorgeous decor and delicious food (I had the wild mushroom melange and poached eggs) - yum!

User

Warm friendly staff. Service exceptional, quality of the cakes - first class. Ambiance and environment quaint, traditional tea cups. Everything perfect ! Thank you

Visited today for lunch. We opted for savoury afternoon tea. 3 of us shared this, got 4 sandwiches, 2 scones, sausage roll and chutney. Was lovely.

Could opt for savoury afternoon tea, or sweet afternoon tea.

Will return to try sweet things

I wish Abigail and her team at Violets all the best and it becomes huge success

Me and my husband had afternoon tea for 2 yesterday and this was our first visit to Violets. It was freezing outside and we arrived to a warm cosy atmosphere just after 1.30. It was quiet at first but then it got quite busy . The staff were very pleasant and helpfull . We loved the olde worldie furniture and diferent types of crockery and the cute little milk bottles. We had a tea pot each of loose leaf tea, finger sandwiches, cheese scones with onion chutney, fruit scones with jam and clotted cream and a variety of cakes and dessert. It was well worth Β£18.95 each and beautifuly presented We really enjoyed the experience and I'm sure we will be back.

First visit here with my Husband for lunch on Friday and we weren't disappointed. We were greeted by friendly staff upon arrival and were impressed with the decor.

The was food was delicious - I ordered the Wild Mushrooms on Toast which came with two perfectly poached eggs and my Husband ordered the Smoked Salmon Ciabatta which he said was really nice. We then ordered a couple of sweet treats as they looked too delicious to resist - Salted Caramel Brownie and Honeycomb & Chocolate Meringue which came with the prettiest edible flowers. Again we weren't disappointed; both were delicious.

We'd definitely recommend Violets and we'll definitely be back again!

Could not fault the amazing afternoon tea we had at this quaint little cafe. The warm cheese scones with onion jam were my favourite so delicious! Beautifully presented, lovely service, cosy atmosphere will definitely pay it a visit again.

User

Beautiful cafe , all food I’ve tried has been delicious and staff friendly and helpful.

User

Amazing breakfast at violets yesterday. They fitted all 13 of us in and it really was one of the best breakfasts... I had salmon, poached eggs and hollandaise on a savoury waffle. Thoroughly recommended! οΏ½

A spot of breakfast with my daughter on a Sunday morning walk along the quayside. The rose petal tea was unbelievable! My daughter had the granola and it was not only beautiful to the eye but also to the taste. I had a warm cheese scone with lashings of butter and onion jam which also hit the spot. Service was prompt and really polite. Would highly recommend a visit as we were surprised to hear that it's been there for a year now. How on earth could you miss this fab little place. Keep up the hard work because I'd say it's certainly paying off!

A lovely cafe in a prime location, fantastic breakfast menu and really mouth- watering afternoon tea. The decor is delightful and obviously done with thought and flair. My meal was truly delicious, waffle with smoked salmon, avocado and the best poached eggs. I then had the most scrumptious lemon drizzle cake.

Violets deserves to be a huge success for Abbie and her team.

User

2nd visit yesterday, absolutely faultless! Friendly staff, great food, would love to see a vegetarian cooked breakfast on the menu, but I'm currently happy with the porridge!

User

Nice venue, coffee and cake, quality crockery also, staff plesent but, a little expensive we thought

User

Food was absolutely delicious and worth the price. I had the seasonal fruit waffle which looked a little small but was perfectly sized and filled me niced. The loose leaf tea was nice and the cafe is well presented. It would have been 5 stars if we hadn't waited 15 minutes between getting the menus and ordering and if our empty plates had been cleared. Top food, polite but a little slow on service.

User

The place was lovely as was the hot chocolate but it was disappointing that there was nothing on offer cake wise Gluten Free. Having enquired about GF cake was a big clue that’s what we were after so it was unbelievable that they put an ordinary biscuit on top of the hot chocolate. Perhaps some staff training is needed.

User

I don't really know how many stars to give violet's as I've had mixed experiences. The 1st time i visited i took mum and we loved it... the sandwiches were delicious and so were their homemade blueberry muffins. Staff were friendly. But when my mum visited another day by herself she asked to sit by the window instead of at the back and was greeted by a rude staff member. My mum ended up walking out because of this rudeness which is a shame because she'd went out of her way to return after a previous positive experience. Not sure whether we'll be returning.

Working, and with very little time available and having had no breakfast, I popped in for a coffee and a piece of toast or a tea cake to take away. They told me that they could do the coffee but only did cakes take away, not FOOD! There is not a coffee shop in Newcastle which will not offer take away toast, tea cake, scone or whatever. So, I still haven't had any breakfast! Who eats cakes for breakfast anyway? Not impressed.

User

Really unwelcoming staff, made us feel very uncomfortable. when we asked for a table of 5 we were told we had to sit on two separate tables.- what is the process if a family of 5 with kids come in, do they have to also sit seperatley? I recommend the two girls that were working get some training in customer service. We left very swiftly in order to avoid any more rudeness from the staff.
