Would like to thank Tim and all of the other staff at Webster's Ropery for giving my daughter the amazing christening day she deserves. Excellent food and helpful staff =Happy guests. Everyone had a great day would not hesitate to book this venue in future.
What can I say about the ropery.... well nothing bad that’s for sure the venue was immaculate and the staff were upbeat and polite to the highest standards all day/night. The food was well above average to say the least not one person had a bad word to say about the food everyone was very impressed with the food and the drinks were more than reasonably priced didn’t hear one price complaint all night n that’s a first for my family lol. My whole wedding was held here and without a doubt they made my wife’s day from start to finish n I couldn’t thank the workers at the ropery enough for mak by our big day so special loved it so much
What a fabulous venue. 5* service from the time we booked it to the end of the wedding day. Sean’s advice and guidance was spot on. The guests commented on how good the food was. Even my little nephew said it was the best beef he had ever had. Having the use of the different rooms worked really well on the day and every room was decorated beautifully. The staff were brilliant - nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Webster’s Ropery for making our day just perfect.
Webster's Ropery really is a beautiful little gem in an unexpected place. My visits here have been at some great family functions with dutiful and attentive staff, very reasonable drink pricing, and a well maintained venue in a surprisingly picturesque little area. It really is an ideal venue for any type of function, and the team genuinely couldn't be more helpful. Can't recommend them enough.
We had our wedding party here on 23rd of June. From the first moment we saw the Ropery we new it was an amazing venue. We had exclusive use and the weather was fantastic with a great outdoor area. Sean and his brother Tim could not have been more helpful, everything was spot on. Great communication, food and service. We Could not fault anything and the rooms are simply beautiful! Very sad it’s over, we want to do it all again!
We had our wedding at Webster's Ropery on Saturday 7th April and what a day we had � Sean and the team went over and beyond all expectations to make the day absolutely perfect. As a Sunderland girl proud of her roots, this venue ticked all the boxes. Steeped in history, this listed building is beautiful and sits proudly on the banks of the River Wear. Perfect. We can't thank you enough! Can we do it all over again please?? �� xxx

We got married here on the 18th of August and Tim and Shaun literally could not have been more accommodating to our massive wedding party, from start to finish everything was tailored to our needs and the whole team genuinely never stopped all night! All of our guests commented on how amazing their food was (something which was really important to us) and it wasn’t until afterwards we started hearing stories from guests about how the team went above and beyond to make them comfortable, little things like noticing a few of our guests struggled with the stairs so were helped by staff and the team members who noticed one of our guests who struggles with large crowds was given extra attention during our wedding breakfast, this was all without being prompted or asked. I would genuinely recommend our venue to anyone and would like to thank all staff involved for creating the relaxed, fun day we wanted ��
We got married here on the 12th May and what a day it was! Sean was amazing from the moment we made the first Enquiry and did not disappoint on the day. His team were will drilled and no matter what we asked it was delivered. The room was beautiful and food was delicious, I've had calls since the wedding from our guests saying they've never tasted food as nice as that. Sean and Tim dealt with all the stress so that me and my new husband could enjoy the day. This venue was perfect for us and I would recommend anyone looking for quirky themed wedding to look no further that The Ropery. We got married here on 17th March 2018�. Originally when we viewed the Ropery last year it was for potential venue for our baby's christening...but as soon as we saw the fabulous setting of every room we just knew it would make the perfect wedding venue - so booked it!! Right from our initial meeting/booking with Sean we felt 100% comfortable, as it's clear from Sean he wants your big day to be just as magical as you do. The service we received over the planning months was great, nothing was too much trouble, Sean was always on hand to help with queries and make suggestions. On the day itself Sean and his team showed nothing but amazing service and commitment to ensure the day went perfectly. There isn't a single thing I would change about our day, the food was delicious, the venue was beautifully decorated (the team set out my Irish props for the nighttime party brilliantly), the dj was fab - the dance floor was full from start to finish, the bar/serving staff were so friendly and efficient. Everyone who attended our day/night has complimented the Ropery. For anyone considering this venue for your wedding....dont hesitate any longer, get in touch with Sean, you certainly won't regret it!!! We were lucky enough to have snow on our wedding day, whilst this initially made me nervous the photos we have received are simply magical and the weather did not impact any taxis or anything making it down the hill. So whether you are planning a beautiful summer wedding or a winter wonderland wedding, the Ropery will be a stunning venue choice for any bride! We got married at Webster’s Ropery on Saturday and honestly can not thank Sean and his team enough for everything they done. We loved this beautiful building and knew it had to be our venue from the moment we walked in! Anyone that knows us knows how unorganised we usually are but Sean took all the stress and worry out of the planning side and made some great suggestions that definitely worked out for the better. The day & night went off perfectly, there’s not a thing we can fault and nothing was too much trouble. Sean took care of us and our guest throughout the full day and night. The food was delicious for both the reception and evening buffet, the DJ was absolutely fab and all the staff were great! Would highly recommend Webster’s Ropery to anyone for their wedding day. I recently attended the ropery for a family wedding and was absolutely blow away by the place!!
Excellent food, great bar and extremely reasonable prices!
What I love most was the warm, friendly atmosphere created by the staff, who I must say were top drawer all day, nothing was too much trouble.
Even had a brief chat with the 2 brothers who own the place , very friendly and genuine lads, would highly recommend.
I had my Retirement party there on the 12th May and it was Fantastic. Sean and his staff had the room looking Beautiful, he promised it would be lovely and it certainly was. Sean made sure we had everything we needed and was on hand all evening. The food was delicious and the female DJ was class she had everyone up dancing, so a fab night was had by all. Thank you everyone at the Ropery for making it a wonderful unforgettable evening. Deffinatly Recommend the fabulous venue, with equally Fab owners and staff. Well Done xx
I had a big celebration party here on the 26th may to celebrate being put into remission after the worst year imaginable, and it really was amazing!� From the moment of going to view the venue Sean was more than happy to help and so kindly didn't even ask for a deposit until I got my results! Sean was so helpful and I knew he was only a text away if I had any queries etc.
The night was perfect in every way I even did a fundraiser to help raise some money for a local charity that has helped me so much throughout treatment and this was no problem to Sean what so ever! We raised a total of £267!!
The dj was fab the food amazing and everyone commented on how much of a lovely place it was. I even got engaged!!�
Best night ever. If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy an amazing special night with family and friends then Webster's ropery is it! Will be booking my engagement party here without a doubt ��

Fantastic venue, excellent management and staff, brilliant DJ... I could go on! Booked the Ropery for a casino themed work function on Friday night and everything went brilliantly, the entire night ran smoothly thanks to Sean and the team, I have had so many compliments on how great it was and cannot thank you all enough. I have the venue booked for my wedding next year and cannot express how much I am looking forward to the big day after Friday.
Eventually getting round to posting a review on our absolutely amazing wedding day at this beautiful, well managed and friendly venue! We got married on 14th July 2018 we literally have no regrets, we had the most perfect day that went completely to plan! After viewing many venues we checked out Webster’s Ropery, they had just re-opened it and we fell in love with it so quick that we actually booked our wedding before the venues wedding licence had been sorted. We couldn’t miss out on this fab venue! We dealt with Sean from the beginning til the end and he literally made our planning easy and so stress free! Any one who thinks planning a wedding is hard needs to book Webster’s! Our day was perfecf from the beginning to end! The food was amazing (well done to Tim and his team for the top class food)! Sean really did look after us from beginning to end, nothing was too much bother. Any one thinking of booking Webster’s you will 100% not be disappointed. The food is delicious and having the exclusive use of the entire building gives you and your guests the perfect setting to enjoy your wedding. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. You won't be disappointed.
