now Sabic site but when i worked on it was ICI Wilton Olefines 6 project in the hot summer of 1976 as a 22 year old......Whessoe built the twin crackers which look like rusty cigar tubes now and the vessel behind with the blue section.....this picture does nothing to relate their size as they are huge and were too big for road transport so built from scratch on site and fully welded by hand with Fortrex35A.......Whessoe also bulit 2 reception oil tanks to the East of the site... and they are still in use as well 40+ years on....Erv Taube was with me and we are still good friends and regularly in touch.
just thought as a footnote anybody remember S.W.Farmer who were in Darlo as well on the old Stooperdale wagon works site at Faverdale, they built the furnaces which heated the oil to enable it to be cracked. https://www.gracesguide.co.uk/S._W._Farme r_and_Son

Steve Bethray who struggles to attend the re-union due to his 5pm shift at the Post Office is on hols this week so we are meeting up in Wetherspoons Tanners Hall pub on Thursday 30th @ 6pm to hopefully meet anybody ex Whessoe who would like to come along and have a good nights craic.
