Amazing news. Bobby Baker's Great & Tiny War has been shortlisted for Best Event Tyneside in The Journal Culture Awards 2019. 2018 was a HUGE year for culture so it feels tremendous to be in the final three.
Thank you to the many people and collaborators who played a role in making it such an extraordinary and warm experience, not least, the brilliant Bobby Baker Home and 1418 NOW who had the vision to commission it in the first place.

The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Newcastle came to visit the #greattinywar house this morning. We had a good conversation about the importance of feminism, interfaith and inter-community dialogue and cups of tea.

We can't believe it's 1 year ago today that people across Newcastle and Gateshead - barbers, bakers, bankers, schoolchildren, taxi drivers, lecturers, train announcers, MPs and loads more - took time out to boldly interrupt day-to-day life by reciting the words of Martin Luther King.
What a day that was. What wonderful people we met. Totally unforgettable. #jeremydeller #mlk1967 #freedomcity2017

It feels special to be included in the Remembrance Day issue of Waitrose Weekend. Editor Alison Hepworth observes that Great & Tiny War "is helping us remember the sometimes-unappreciated work of those who didn't go and fight but kept the country going while men were away."
