If you are looking for something to do today then why not come down to New Road where we have a display of some of the things we do and some activities for you to try yourselves. There is also the Royal Air Force Association and a beautiful Spitfire on display as part of the RAF 100 celebrations.

Nijmegen Marches 2018 are completed with all members of the team crossing the finish line. A very hard 4 days which pushed the cadets to their absolute limits. They now qualify to wear the gold road marching badge on their brassard.

Another 27 miles marched today by the Cumbria & Lancashire Wing ATC Nijmegen Team. The team is still complete and tomorrow is the last day before we hopefully march over the finish line to our medals.

5 cadets and 2 staff from 1127 (Kendal) Squadron recently attended a week long camp at RAF Fairford for the Royal International Air Tattoo. The cadets carried out important duties across the showground including checking VIP passes, ensuring the public did not cross the crowdline, and handing out maps. A special mention must go to Cdt Rohan Malin, who was selected to be one of the 'Red Sparrows', who are the best young cadets on the camp. An enjoyable (if tiring) week was had by all! Day 2 with Cumbria & Lancashire Wing ATC Nijmegen Team complete at just under 25 miles. Slightly cooler today but the aches, pains and blisters have set in.
The video below shows the team on the last leg back to Nijmegen having joined up with Trent Wing Air Cadets for a few miles.

Today 5 cadets took to the skies at 11 Air Experience Flight Squadron at RAF Leeming. A great time was had by all with one first time flyer and the others learning about flight navigation and aerobatics.

Tonight we took advantage of the great weather and headed to Kendal Green (which was unusually quiet, apparently there was something on telly!)
The cadets played rounders and then shared a picnic tea before finishing off the night with a kick around with a football and a rugby ball.

Tonight we got out in the sunshine and went to the Helm to cook our tea. The cadets all brought different stoves so we could learn about the differences. After tea the cadets had a go at putting a tent up and learning about the different types available.

Kendal Squadron have spent the day competing in the Cumbria and Lancashire Wing Inter-Squadron Athletics.
A fantastic effort from all of the team but special mentions go to Cadet Malin who won two Gold medals in Discuss and 200 metres and to Cadet Hine who won Bronze in the 1500 metres.

Not content with one 50 mile road march a small team of Cumbria and Lancashire Wing staff including Sgt Howarth from Kendal travelled to Garelochhead this weekend.
The annual Scottish Garelochhead 2 Day Road Marches is another qualification event for Nijmegen but the staff team, having already qualified two weeks ago at Cosford used the march for some extra training.

WE DID IT! Kendal Squadron as part of the Cumbria & Lancashire Wing ATC Nijmegen team walked 53 miles in total with 4 qualifying for the International Nijmegen Marches with the other 2 being too young this year.
A 100% team finish for Cumbria and Lancashire Wing which is an incredible achievement.
