Approximately 7,000 veterans are homeless in Britain and facing terribly unfair hardship. If you can do one thing over the festive period, contact a veteran, let them know you care - your words may heal. Wishing all our Followers the very best over the festivities 🎅. A little glimpse of our Hot Turkey Weekend ☀️ 🦃. A traditional weekend within 208 every December. This particular event was special as we said “cheerio” to our Commanding Officer. Qaranc HistoryArmy Medical ServicesBritish Army

The Regimental 2IC- Lt Colonel Mark Andrews toasting our outgoing Commanding Officer (CO) this evening - Colonel Ron Siddle who departs 208 in Jan 2019 when Mark will then be taking over as CO. The marmite & jam epilogue...you needed to be there 😉. Farewell the CO! Army Jobs British Army

That face you pull when you find out you’re deploying but have been blagging CBRN (NBC for the old and bold!) since 2004! 😂. HM Armed Forces Armed forces

We’d like to destroy a few myths about joining 208 as a healthcare professional, here goes:
Q. I am 45, always wanted to join the army but I’m too old?
A. Contrary to popular belief, you can join 208 up until the age of 50!
... Q. I’m not very fit and heard there is a 1.5 mile run in under 10 min 30 sec?
A. There is a 1.5 mile run at army selection but it’s only 1.5 miles in under 14 mins!
Q. I’m a student nurse, can I join?
A. Yes, we take student everything! As long as you’re on a healthcare career path.
Q. I don’t have a lot of spare time as I’m a single mum and work shifts.
A. A minimum of 27 days per year is all that is required and this can be reduced in some instances.
Q. Will I be paid?
A. Of course! And your petrol too!
Q. I’m thinking of paying for an advanced nursing course in my own time.
A. STOP! Have a look at the fully funded courses below for HCAs and Nurses. We have courses for all healthcare staff, up to Masters and PhD. Our Humanitarian Relief courses are popular.
Q. I don’t agree with the army, I don’t like the thought of shooting people.
A. Medical staff have a weapon purely for self-defence and the protection of patients. It’s against the Geneva Convention for medical personnel to raise arms in threat.
Q. I’m not from Liverpool but want to join 208.
A. We have squadrons in Ellesmere Port, Blackpool and Lancaster - the choice is plenty.
Q. I heard there is a bonus for joining?
A. Yes, a minimum of £2300, up to £5000. If you have served previously, this could increase to £10,000. And remember: Every April you are paid a tax free bounty.
Q. Where do I join, do I contact the careers office?
A. It’s simple! Start your application here: https://apply.army.mod.uk/how-to-join and send us a message on here so we can invite you in for a coffee and chat.
Q. I’m from the Commonwealth, can I join?
A. Timely question! Plans are being drawn up right now to allow people from Commonwealth to join regardless of current nationality status - watch this space!
Q. I heard basic training last for months?
A. After the 2 day army selection in Lichfield, training is only 3 weeks in total which is broken down.
Q. I don’t think my work will give me leave to attend?
A. We have an amazing partnership with the NHS - you will receive extra leave in order to attend most training. Our very own WO2 Jap Longstaff at the weekend (well, not entirely our own but that’s a long story...). Jap can be seen here with his good friend, Dickie Parsons; they simulated a Regimental Aid Post to enable 208 personnel to compare and contrast current clinical doctrine, with what happened in a Role 1 facility 100 years ago.
