Last night saw further progression for 247/430 Squadrons with some well deserved promotions. Congratulations to all who got promoted and for our new Corporals welcome to the NCO Team 👍
Leadership development is only one of the things offered in the Air Cadets.

Last night was our AFI. All cadets were well turned out and did the sqn proud. As well as this our recruit flight passed out. They demonstrated their drill to parents before being awarded their 1st class badges by Wing Commander Archibald. Wg Cmdr also presented Basic Radio badges, Bronze Cyber badges, and Bronze Leadership badges to other cadets. We also saw Flt Sgt McCoy promoted to CWO. Another busy night on Sqn and well done to everyone.
Last night saw a busy night for 247 and 430 cadets. Oldham mountain rescue were on Sqn raising awareness and promoting good practices when out on the hills. They demonstrated rescue techniques, showed the cadets their equipment and demonstrated it's use. As well as Mountain Rescue, we had promotion interviews, cadet of the month, and a BTEC award. Good luck to all who have applied for promotion, and congratulations to Cdt Peters our cadet of the month and FS Chesney on her BTEC level 2 in Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community.

Not many Squadrons can say Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty has visited them, but we can. She was at Squadron today - which is also the Wing Training Centre - to present at the Wing Conference. She spent time with the cadets who were helping with the catering, asking about their cadet careers and generally chatting. As well as helping with the catering, two of the cadets had the huge privilege of escorting her from her car.
Congratulations to our recruit flight who were enrolled last night. You have taken the first step of what we hope will be a long, happy, and successful cadet career.
Congratulations to Cdt N. Lineker-Foxcroft, Cdt McCleary, and Cdt J. Lineker-Foxcroft on getting their First Class Badges. Cdt Collier for her Bronze DofE. Sgt Egerton for her BTEC in Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community. Well done to all and keep up the good work
247 and 430 just missed out on some medals at today's cross country but we did get a 4th which is a chance to represent wing at regionals in February. Well done to all who turned out, and congratulations on some good placings.
Cadets from 247 and 430 sqns went to Cosford Museum on Saturday. The weather was not good but cadets enjoyed looking through the various hangars and taking part in a quiz. They saw new prototypes and test craft, old planes used in wars, and planes from the cold war.
Day trip for the Squadron!

glad to see my old squadron still going strong.i was a member late 70,s and the best of times it was...
This squadron gives our teenagers opportunities that are just amazing, from flying at the age of 12/13 to going on trips to better their education and their outlook on life. It gives our kids a chance at being the best they can be and to be more focused.
The best thing I've been committed to and lots of fun. Can't beat it!
The Air Cadets 247 squadron is an incredible place for all young adults. It's an opportunity for them to grow in confidence make new relationships and improve on their life skills.
My son has throughly enjoyed the past 2-years and is looking forward to many more years with them.
Thank you for all you do. Absolutely highly recommend.
Some of my best memories were in this Squardon :) learnt so much from this place and made some good friends. Would highly recommend to all that are interested.
