30 James Street - Home Of The Titanic

About 30 James Street - Home Of The Titanic

Boutique Hotel: Situated at Titanic's former head office, Albion House (Liverpool), our new hotel will be perfectly positioned between the River Mersey and Liverpool's vibrant shopping district.

30 James Street - Home Of The Titanic Description

As of the 1st of October, Signature Living will take up occupancy of the Grade II listed Titanic head office, Albion House. It is our intention to turn what was once the organisational hub of the Titanic, into a Boutique style Hotel.

This hotel will be perfectly positioned between the River Mersey and Liverpool’s vibrant shopping district. With plans for 350 beds, 67 separate accommodations, bar, gymnasium and restaurant, 30 James Street is set to be an incredible tribute to the grand passenger liner of 1912 and an important asset to Signature Living’s collection of hotels and serviced apartments in the city. In addition to this, the building also has stunning views of the city and of the River Mersey. Amongst these views lie the Three Graces and the Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City, which is a World Heritage site.

With a building so rich in architectural and cultural history, it is important not to forget the story behind this iconic Titanic building. It is from the balconies pictured below that the names of the deceased were read to the crowd below, leading to the staff being barricaded into the building for 2 days. Additionally, the Titanic building was the tallest in Liverpool at the time and the first to be constructed from steel.

Therefore, our team here at Signature Living have quite a job on their hands in balancing the style, fun and overall unique nature of our accommodations with the integrity and preservation of such a landmark building. We are confident we can deliver, within the 11 floors of the Titanic, all of the qualities of Signature Living you have grown to love, whilst highlighting the importance of such an impressive building.

We feel we are perfectly placed to fulfill our goal in making the Titanic apart-hotel a stunning environment, we are now the Number one Hotel and serviced apartment provider in our City, quite an achievement considering that there are only three categories for accommodation on Trip Advisor. To my knowledge we are the only accommodation provider to have ever achieved this.

You can keep up to date with the project as we move forward and update this page, but so far all we can say is… Watch this space, you’re in for a treat upon the Titanic’s completion!

🏆 30 James Street Named Best Hotel in the UK by Travel Republic 🏆
If you look at 30 James Street today, you’d never know that just a few years ago, the building was a crumbling eyesore on one of the UK’s most picturesque waterfronts. Months of blood, sweat and tears went into the resurrection of 30 James Street and this year, one of our proudest achievements has been named as the best hotel in the UK.
Well done to all our staff and thank you to all our wonderful guests who have taken the time to rate and review us over the last 4 years.

User

User

Stayed for one night bank holiday Monday 28th June with a Groupon voucher. Arrived early and the room wasn’t ready so they held our luggage while we went for lunch on the roof terrace. Food was lovely and there’s amazing views of the docks up there. Our room was ready 1hr early and it was amazing, beautifully furnished with a jacuzzi bath. We stayed on the 5th floor in one of the London rooms which again had amazing views. Everything is within a 10 min walk of the hotel so we had a meal out and some drinks returning to the hotel about 12am. Slept well, very quiet and comfortable. Next morning breakfast was served in the roof top restaurant, brilliant buffet selection. 100% will go again!

User

Omg what can I say , we just spent the night in one of your party rooms everything was fantastic . We was in Liverpool for our nhs awards night , your staff was really interested (even if they wasn’t it never showed on their faces ) they wished us luck . Me and my sister took our mum here for her 74th birthday last weekend. Had a fantastic 2 nights stay and was very impressed with the superior room we had.. right down to the complimentary champagne both days! The staff and management are more than helpful and very friendly... The hotel is definitely well worth a visit with its central location and impressive decor and history of the titanic. We will be booking again very soon to have another weekend near to christmas!!

User

Lovely roof top bar in the heart of the city great views over the Mersey bar was very busy and great atmosphere lots of hen party’s wedding groups having afternoon tea hotel also looks like a fab place to stay

User

Just returned home after an amazing 2 night stay for my sisters hen weekend! Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, hotel management Will couldn’t do more to make us feel welcome as none of us had been to Liverpool before, our room was even better than it looks online (Presidential suite) the only down side to the stay was the lifts are quite small and slow (however we did have an awful lot of bags) and check out time the concierge was extremely busy! When we arrived however they were great he took all the bags straight up and there were ALOT! Of bags! Even set balloons up around room for us without having to ask! Great selection of food at breakfast, afternoon tea was great with the staff being very helpful with dietary requirements. Will definitely be returning and can’t wait for our next visit!

User

I was the winner of the Club Tropicana competition, we had a brilliant night, the staff were great couldn't do enough for us, food was fab and the George Michael tribute Johnny Mack was fantastic!! We tried to get a room on the night but the hotel was fully booked. We will defo be coming again, thanks very much xxx

Booked the ultimate girls weekend for me and 12 of my friends for my birthday and had THE best weekend!

The package was such good value for money.

The hotel was lovely, rooms and bed linen were clean.

The staff were brilliant, very helpful, polite and professional (especially Will and Tom)

The location of the hotel was perfect and within walking distance or a short taxi ride from the everywhere we needed to be.

All in all a wonderful birthday break that I’ll always remember.

Thank you 30 James Street

User

Beautiful hotel excellent staff nothing was too much trouble for them very attentive. Could have done with some bottles of water in room. Comfortable beds and awesome hot tub in our room 🤗 lovely meal, and great breakfast

User

Afternoon Tea with Prosecco this afternoon for my Mum's Birthday was a real hit! The sandwiches and cakes were absolutely beautiful. So fresh and so many flavours. Our waiter was an Italian gentleman who was so pleasant and took the time to have a conversation with us. Weather was sunny so we finished off with a coffee on the balcony taking in the stunning views of the Liverpool waterfront. Highly recommended for a peaceful treat in a place steeped in history. Thankyou! X

User

A group of 5 of us stayed for the wkend we payed for a birthday package. Everything was fab , our afternoon tea was moved from the Restaurant upstairs to the Alba de Cuba and we were all more than happy with the venue ( this place is amazing )

We also had the cocktail making and the Butler , brilliant wkend thanks again especially to Amy who actually sorted all the package out for me

User

I'm shocked reading some bad reviews on this hotel because our experience was great with them. We was in room 7 and the food and room was great, bed was very comfortable, room was clean and the food was delicious (especially the dessert). Friendly staff and no problem checking in and out. Excellent location too. I've given a 4* because the only downfall was parking and although it was only a 10 minute walk it was hard with lots of luggage to carry. We tried to call reception for 6 hours the day we arrived to find out where to park but no one answered our call so instead we had to go inside to ask first. And our room card wouldn't work continuous times for us to get in our room so had to keep going back down every time to sort it out (again only a minor problem). We had a lovely time and after my experience id stay again :)

User

Went with 3 friends not all it’s cracked up to be ! Very shoddy hotel was in room 11 it was boiling bedding was dirty. Service at breakfast was rubbish asked 3 times for a coffee. No salt in salt cellars on 5 tables !! Checked out to find you had taken £150 off my card as security to tell me I’d only get it back in 7 days. We’re older ladies in our 50s and are seriously not going to cause any damage to anything. Receptionist rude and quite abrupt and didn’t like anything pointing out to her. Would never stay again or recommend to anyone.

User

We stayed at the hotel on the 4th July for my partners surprise birthday/romantic night away. I had liaised with the booking/reception staff on several occasions upon booking a room with the hotel, as I kept telling them I wanted everything to be perfect, which they fully assured me it would be.

Part of the reason I booked the room is because the room featured a jacuzzi/spa bath, which we were really looking forward to.

After a lovely evening out in Liverpool, we came home, ran the bath and pressed the button for the bath jets to come on - sadly, they didn’t work (quite the way to kill the mood of the evening!) We didn’t want to complain about this and figured they got turned off after a certain time.

In the morning, we tried the bath again - yet again, the bath didn’t work.

We made a polite complaint at reception upon departure, hoping that the staff would be good enough to offer some form of compensation but all we got was,

‘Oh, maybe water got into the button from the previous guests and the bath tripped out - there’s a box outside the room where the trip switch is..’

I didn’t realise when you stay at a hotel that offers luxury facilities, should you be an expert electrician that’s paid a fair bit of money to fix the hotel baths for them..

Really disappointed that nothing was done and it put us off staying here again. The pictures looked a lot better than the room did in reality unfortunately to say - thank goodness the breakfast was good at least!

User

The hotel is marketed as a luxurious experience but is far from it.

The rooms we had (47&61) were dark, tatty, dirty, cold and mould ridden. The decor wasn't just tired but the workmanship was often substandard showing a very poor finish. I expect the soap to be fastened down in a Travelodge, but not a 'luxury' hotel.

Basic facilities such as a well lit dressing table were missing.

Breakfast was primitive, a poor selection of cheap fried food from the freezer and rationed hot drinks.

It became apparent that the real target market is hen parties. The reception and entrance was constantly full of roudy, lewd women in vary states of undress and an accompanying cloud of tobacco smoke.

So if you fancy going out with the lads on the hunt for desperate ladies, this could be the place for you. For anything else, stay well clear.

User

Really really disappointed with the staff and service in the champagne bar. Went in with my boyfriend and some friends for a drink, because we were not eating we were put outside on our own and the doors were closed! We then had to wait nearly 30 minutes for 4 drinks!! The bar man was extremely rude and we were all freezing outside. We will not be returning

User

No such thing as lost property - we left 2 quite specific mobile chargers in the room and reported we'd left them within in an hour of leaving, 4 hours later we went back to get our bags, the message hadn't been passed to housekeeping. The lady at the desk then said she needed to mail housekeeping and it may take a while for a response. Most hotels have radios and a proper lost property system!

I didn't hear anything for a week so I dropped them an email. No response. We live local so not a big deal to go back and get them if they'd found them. Anyway, over two weeks and nothing.

Good hotels have good customer service, in fact that's a major contributor to star rating and reviews like this one. This hotel seems to struggle with front desk staffing and if you ever have to ring them you'll be holding for an eternity.

I've not got much to say on the hotel, the rooms serve a purpose but are quite tired, the restaurant is good, the building is fantastic.

Edit: the team from 30 james street did make an effort to get in touch after I left the review and refunded us £30 for the 2 chargers which was fair but I wish they'd picked up on this sooner.

User

Massively disappointed - our first room had a huge crane outside the window, along with a team of workmen staring straight in from the scaffolding. We asked if there were any other rooms available as we didn’t want to be woken up early by the work outside. The staff were really helpful and “upgraded” us free of charge to room 21. The room itself was lovely, but the bathroom was pretty grim with thick black mould in the corners of the jacuzzi, bits missing off the taps, a corner of the sink had been broken and glued back together, there was some kind of black gunk on the bottom of the hand wash (that was screwed to the wall!!) and finally, months worth of dust to the side of the toilet along with a Prokill rodent poison box! If I had seen the box the night before, I would have been out of there. Then there was the breakfast. Opened the plate warmer to take out a freezing cold plate! The cooked selection was not what we expected from a 4* hotel, We’ve had a lot better at a Premier Inn. The food wasn’t very warm and this wasn’t helped by the cold plates. Fruit selection was a poor offering of a few pieces of watermelon and a couple of strawberries. All in all, it’s not what we expected.

User

Having arranged a special treat for my birthday, a room with a Jacuzzi.

Arrived to be told there had been a mess up on the bookings and the room was not available !!!!!

I subsequently contacted the hotel on several occasions to be offered £20.!!

Since that wasn't even the difference in the cost of the rooms..... were was the compensation ?????

The girl I spoke to on several occasions was extremely unhelpful to a point of being obstructive.

This was supposed to be a special weekend ......

I can not recommend this hotel, and irrespective of problems with the booking, the way I have been treated was disgusting.

I am STILL awaiting the promised compensation...

Afternoon Tea with Prosecco this afternoon for my Mum's Birthday was a real hit! The sandwiches and cakes were absolutely beautiful. So fresh and so many flavours. Our waiter was an Italian gentleman who was so pleasant and took the time to have a conversation with us. Weather was sunny so we finished off with a coffee on the balcony taking in the stunning views of the Liverpool waterfront. Highly recommended for a peaceful treat in a place steeped in history. Thankyou! X
