Just over one quarter of all properties let across England and Wales over the last year have been part or fully furnished. The proportion of apartments rented with furnishings is virtually twice that of houses – 39% compared to just 20%.
Furnished apartments, on average (excluding London), rent for £83 more per month, just short of £1,000 more per year, offering an 11% premium over unfurnished lets. The average rent of a part-furnished property (usually white goods supplied) is around £31 per month more, a 4.1% premium.
Based on an estimated cost of £2,000 – £2,500 to functionally furnish a two-bed apartment, for those renting it would take 2–3 years of living in a property to re-coup the cost of self-furnishing.

A new report by Barbour ABI has indicated that the value of residential construction contracts across England and Wales in 2017 was over £21 billion.
In all regions, except for London, Wales and the East Midlands, investment in 2017 was higher than in 2016. However, a significant fall in investment across the capital means the total figure for England and Wales as a whole remains on par with 2016.
The North West, West Midlands, and Yorkshire and the Humber have seen the most substantial increases in the value of construction contracts awarded, with significant activity centred on Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds.

I've been having problems with my boiler since September 2016 up until today. I have an 11month old which as you can understand it's frustrating over the winter periods to be left without heating & hot water. So I am at the end of my wit with it, it must have broken at least 7 times over this period of time & still no permanent repair. As I am not one to normally complain but now I have had enough. Yet Elaine who deals with the maintenance at abode property management decides to phone me up no apology or anything just very blunt attitude. I think it's disgusting the way I have just been spoken to, when I'm the one who should have the attitude not the member of staff dealing with it!! Appalled.
