U8‚Äôs session was great this evening. Everyone worked hard and there were lots of red sweaty faces at the end. The boys were continuing there progress with passing and positional play tonight. Kobey was set some individual challenges this evening and as the session progressed he gained in confidence and was creating some excellent opportunities in front of goal. The u11’s bunch were a delight this morning.
Away to Unsworth Lionesses on a cold, icey (yes, ice) morning, the girls put everything into the game and earned their rewards.
... After going behind early on after a defensive mistake, the girls just went into cruise control and dominated the game. Some excellent goals were scored but there was a special moment late on when we scored our last goal. We have waited a while for Leah to score and boy was it worth the wait. A strike from around 12 yards out, into the top corner, leaving the keeper helpless. The goal was special, but what made it that bit more was the togetherness and camaraderie of the girls celebrating like they have never done before. The crowd popped and there were absolute scenes.
POTM was awarded to Leah. Not only for getting her first goal, but she was great in defence too. Tenacity at its best. She has worked very hard to win this award and has never given up, good work Leah ūüí™ūüŹľ

Well done AFC Bolton U10s who played an evenly matched game against Winton Diamonds today and all I can say is what a fantastic performance and effort from each girl on the pitch today with excellent football being displayed all match. The girls went in to the match in high spirits which showed as the girls dominated the first half with some great passing skills, strong defensive skills and excellent saves being made from Lilly in goal. It was evident throughout the game that... the girls are growing as a team as great link up play was shown and all I can say is the girls keep going from strength to strength each and every game. A big welcome to Eva who played her first match today and gave it her all fitting straight in to the team with some great tackles being made, which resulted in her achieving player of the match. However midway through the game a single decision that was made threw the girls off their girl but they didn’t let this stop them as they pulled it back never once giving up and pushing through until the final whistle, fantastic game to watch!

The under 7’s crazy gang were back in action this this morning. This group of lil ladies are full of grit, determination and are completely fearless with a never give up attitude. They are an absolute pleasure to coach.
We decided to change our shape for the games this morning as we knew we were in for a tough time against the AFC Bolton under 8‚Äôs. Setting up with 2 defenders and 2 attacking players with free rein to create havoc up front the girls started very steady trying... to pass the ball around quickly. They got caught out early on and were battling hard to get back in the game. Once they got back on level terms the girls took control of the game with some fine football using the positioning skills we have been learning in training. Then on come the AFC U8‚Äôs. What a great game. The U7‚Äôs relished the chance to play the older AFC girls and the challenges were flying from all angles. There were some fantastic battles all over the pitch and the game could have gone either way with moments where each team were pinned back in there own half. It was great to see some of the new U8‚Äôs in action for the first time today. I must say Libby with the ball at her feet was awesome and Anabella was an absolute trooper battling hard to win the ball back for her team ūüĎŹ All the girls worked so hard today and the POM was a very difficult. Eliza was awarded the POM with a fine performance in goal and then coming out of goal and creating some great chances that on another day could have turned into goals. AFC 1 - 2 Haslingden
Slow first half cost us the victory today. Some of the girls didn’t have that grit and determination which was no good against a strong Haslingden side. Had a feeling early on things weren’t going to go our way. The first goal was a blocked clearance which ended up in the back of the net. After DS strong half time team talk the girls quickly got in to their stride. Early in the second half Ellie W turned the full back in knots, then sliding ...home a cool finish bringing the game level which I thought we was going on to win. But late on Haslingden got the killer goal which was again a mirror of the first goal. Was gutted for the defence as they were excellent today. It’s a pleasure to watch them play from the back and control the game.

Abi has only been with us a few weeks and has already made a massive impact on the squad. The leagues leading goalscorer did everything apart from hit the back of the net today. What a brilliant game of football we witnessed this morning on the best away pitch we have played on so far this season. Our hosts have a big strong team that worked tirelessly from start to finish and it was obvious that we would need to work hard and move the ball quickly to get anything.
In the first half that message had clearly been understood by the girls as we took the game to our opponents and took the lead on 3 mins through a well taken goal by Chelsea. We were creating and squandering chances for the majority of the half but did get a deserved second on 25 mins. There was also enough evidence that Myerscough were not out of the game and in particular the 3 front runners who all gave us problems at various stages of the half.
The second half started as we told the girls it would, they pressed us all over the pitch and did not give us anytime on the ball, unfortunately we did not do the same to them. The game went to 1 - 2 on 46 mins and it seemed to waken us up a bit as we got our two goal advantage back after a goalmouth scramble through Taylor on 57 mins.
In recent weeks that would have been enough to see us through with the hope of more goals but not today.
We conceded our first ever OG on 60 mins and it seemed to knock the confidence out of the whole team. Misplaced passes, more real good chances wasted, not pressing the opponents and not getting solid challenges in all contributed to what happened after that.
In the 64 min we failed to clear the ball away effectively and we conceded the equaliser and then in the 68 min we switched off completely and conceded a breakaway goal that demonstrates how cruel football can be sometimes. Hopefully this game is a lesson for the whole squad in terms of game management and not taking anything for granted.
In terms of the top performances Ellie was a constant threat, Chelsea weighed in with another double and should have had a couple more. Ines strong running and athleticism just needs to have a finish to it, Mia is understanding her role a lot better and put in a solid performance. And while she may not feel it Eve is performing brilliantly in goal, it is the most difficult position to play and the most thankless too. She must remember, to get to her the opponents have gone passed 8 other players. she saved the ones she had influence over but was not at fault for any of the goals. 3 well struck shots from the opposition and a wicked slice off her teammates boot gave her no chance.
The opposition choice for our POTM went to Taylor for the second game running. Her versatility, pace and awareness are a great asset to the squad and we look forward to developing other aspects of her game.
In summary a very frustrating game for me and George, a great watch for any neutrals and some hard lessons for the girls. We go again next weekend ūüėĀ

U9s match report
Another excellent team performance from the girls today. This group of girls are now showing a real team spirit, tackling, talking to each other and covering when someone is out of position. Its amazing to see how they are understanding the game more and more each week. From the start today the girls was on there game looking to get forward at every opportunity. With an early goal the tone of the game was set. We had some good opportunities to score more in t...he first half but some of the girls was trying to walk the ball into the net instead of having a shoot. With a good half time chat they began to have shots from further out and it was showing better results as we scored more goals. Everyone's all round performances today was super and it was a hard decision for POM.
Willow was today's POM based on her progress over the past 2/3 weeks and today's match proformance. She was very keen to play up front today as she wanted to get a goal. And with her determination and energy she did just that. Well done willow you gave it everything today.

Killer instinct is the two words to describe the under 8s this week! We have made the jump into a girls football league and came in with a bang! ūüĒ• The girls were split into two teams - the yellows and the greys and both had two fixtures each! We have been working on shooting for the last two weeks and this showed with the goal tally from the players!
