Al-Abbas Institute Description
The Al-Abbas Institute has been established to meet the educational needs of the Muslim community in Rochdale. Its primary purpose is to provide traditional Islamic education through the medium of the English language for children and adults as well as facilitating and supporting academic studies at secondary school and college levels.
Al-Abbas Institute aims to serve and engage the Muslims of Rochdale by promoting the teaching of Islam and to advocate inter-faith harmony in a multicultural environment in accordance with the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The Institute will promote Islam as a true religion by means of engaging good conduct and good behaviour towards all members of our community.
The Institute intends to be the focal point for the Muslim community in Rochdale in order to enhance understanding and dispel the many misconceptions about Islam. Our mission is to encourage people of all ages and ethnic groups to learn and develop their knowledge of Islam, to bridge the gap between the various communities by providing the necessary resources.
Al Abbas aspires to develop in our children and adults the Prophetic characteristics as illustrated through the life and example of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to produce the future torch bearers of Islam. Therefore curriculum of the Al-Abbas Institute has been carefully compiled to ensure the academic, personal and spiritual development of all its students.
As the Muslim community in Rochdale has developed it has also become frustrated as a result of the lack of access to traditional Islamic knowledge. With this in mind the Institute will provide Muslims with effective educational programmes to ensure the propagation of the eternal message of Islam.
The curriculum is based on that which is found in the great teaching institutions of the Islamic World and an understanding of Islam, which has been transmitted in an unbroken chain from the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to our living Scholars of the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah.
We believe that many of the illnesses we find in our communities can be treated through healing the hearts with spiritual truths disseminating knowledge from the hearts of scholars and the Al-Abbas Institute aims to bring such scholars to the community of Rochdale.
