Visited this cinema to see Mr Turner on 25th November. Amazing to think the cinema has been on the go since 1913! We were made very welcome and offered free coffee. We sat in the balcony and had a great view in very comfortable seats. Highly recommended - fantastic community facility.
Visited for the first time on Sunday to watch 3 Billboards. Great ‘old time’ experience even with the pearl and Dean music. The seats were very comfortable better than the Morden day multiplexes. Lovely friendly staff. A must to do in Keswick, we’ll definitely be doing it again.
Visited for the first time on Sunday to see Three Billboards. Had booked three seats but only two of us could go. Didn’t ask or expect a refund but got one!! Then we were offered a free coffee and bought a bag of sweets for £1!!
Lovely and clean and comfortable. Highly recommend and we will be going again!!
Support what’s on your doorstep!
Try and visit each time we stay in Keswick. Never fails to impress, as Cinemas used to be and should be now.
This is one of the best Cinemas in England. I would never watch a new film anywhere else. A place to make memories.
Thank you so much to Alan at Alhambra Keswick for exceptional customer service this week. Went above and beyond. Would recommend to everyone. Thank you.
Such a lovely cinema and what a gent behind the kiosk! Our first time, will definitely be back, so reasonable compared to multiplex prices and you get a free tea or coffee when you go in. Fantastic place, highly recommend!
Really lovely cinema. We sat in the balcony and the seats were really comfy. The gentleman who runs it is really friendly and you even get free tea and coffee
Pictures like it used to be including Pearl and Dean advertising. Cheaper than most cinemas and no rip off prices for food and drink. Very friendly staff providing free tea and coffee. Thoroughly recommend!!!
Lovely, classic cinema. Has a great serene atmosphere with very kind and helpful staff.
Lovely warm and very friendly cinema we are coming back up
Next year
And will visit the cinema again
Thank you
Lovely friendly welcome at the kiosk, very comfy, cosy seats. Made the whole movie experience even better!
Lovely cinema, I booked to see the live stream of King Lear. Very friendly staff, comfy seats and a free cup of elderflower pressé in the interval.
Love this little cinema, reminds me of the way things used to be, great service, friendly atmosphere and coffee served in a cup and saucer. Up to date films too, watched Dunkirk last night.
Love going we go to the alhambra on each visit to Keswick 2 or 3 times a year takes you back in time brilliant keep it up hope to see you soon
I would just like to say a huge thank you to Carol and Alan. for letting us hire your cinema for our hen party. We all had a fantastic time, you were very helpful and came up with great little extra ideas to give our visit a personal touch. On the day Alan was very welcoming and made sure everything was organised and ready to go. Our bride to be was very thankful for your kind gesture too. You all have went above and beyond and I would highly recommend you to everyone. Thank you for making our visit special. Amy and Naomi xxxx
I love this cinema. Warm and cosy with comfy seats. Old fashioned cinema with old fashioned service. There's nothing better.
I absolutely love this cinema. It is so warm and welcoming. It is full of character with original features. The love and care that is put into keeping it this way is so obvious. I would certainly recommend that people come along and experience today's movies in yesterdays cinema, I will certainly be back.
Great cinema, first time we’ve been, but we will definitely be back. Great atmosphere and lovely old building
For nerds like me who are fascinated by years gone by.. this place is a dream, I can just imagine being sat there decades ago and don't think it would look too much different! I could go to a modern Cinema any time I like but the Alhambra is a real treat for me on our many visits to Keswick
Fantastic place! Took me right back to watching movies as a child in the 60s!
Fantastic old style cinema,we was made very welcome and could look around to choose our seat .we will be back next time we are up there
Fantastic characterful cinema- much better than those multiplexes! I went tonight for the showing of Paddington 2- I was surprised that the tea and coffee were free. Great building, comfortable seats and great staff!
Fantasic, booked to watch Peter Rabbit on Wednesday. Took middle row of 8 at the back of the balcony, totally enjoyed our holiday cinema experience. Thank you.
Excellent cinema, warm welcome, comfortable seats, free tea & coffee, VERY reasonable prices. We went two nights in a row and would HIGHLY recommend!!!
Everytime I visit Keswick I hope there is a film on that I want to watch as I love this cinema. It's so nice and the prices of tickets and the drinks etc are fantastic.
Brought back childhood memories and throughly enjoyed my visit not many traditional cinemas left will certainly visit again - I also enjoyed watching swallows and amazons
Brilliant place, very nice chap in charge, great experience..
Best cinema experience for many a year. Seeing 2001 on the big screen was an absolute treat. Definitely be back again.
Absolutely loved this cinema! Lovely friendly man who runs it aswell, who is smiley and cheerful! Service was spot on, nice clean comfy chairs! Can't fault it. If you're in the keswick area I'd definatley recommend you to go down and catch a film! Need more cinemas like this! 100% respect to the man who owns it. Well done :)
Absolutely brilliant cinema. It was like a time warp, the decor and building itself was fab, real vintage stuff but in beautiful condition. Then to my surprise the movie screen was digital and there was also a Dolby surround sound system. That meant watching Spectre was just like the modern cinema experience but in classic surroundings. I also spoke to the owner who is a really nice fella who's very proud of his cinema and so he should be!
A lovely old cinema with a balcony and stalls. Lovingly managed by the owner. Incredibly cheap and with the bonus of free tea or coffee.
A must visit.
A great place to watch films. Takes you back to the past. Very reasonably price and comfortable. You must visit it if you’re in Keswick for a few days. Free tea and coffee ☕️ too!!
'The Dam Busters' on the big screen once again, in a lovely old cinema where it would have been shown originally in 1955. An understated yet still gripping tale of great courage, skill and ingenuity, told with a steady, workmanlike efficiency rather than today's brutal Hollywood glamorisation. The silent scenes (save for a ticking clock) as the camera pans over the empty rooms of those who who did not return, together with the final reflective conversation of Gibson and Wallis on the losses of the mission, are most moving and eloquent. Todd (with a fine WW II record of his own) and Redgrave have the film roles of their lives. Although Todd and the other actors playing the crew members were noticeably older than the original Dam Busters (average age 22), one would not wish for any other casting choices. And a film with a local connection, too - some scenes were filmed at Silloth airfield!
Wonderful, like stepping back in time. The only thing missing from my memories of childhood visits to the cinema was the eye watering haze of cigarette smoke. No loss!
Much prefer the local small cinemas to the big ones. Lost the Lonsdale in Carlisle so we travel down to you instead. Lovely little cinema and staff always cheerful and helpful.
Lovely traditional theatre, with comfortable seats and charm.
I went last night to watch cars 3 with my 2 kids great little cinema u even get a free cup of tea or coffee before the film is gonna start although I think the prices should be the same for the upstairs aswell as the down stairs but apart from that it's great will definitely go again, plus it still has that old feeling the smell the pics there aren't many cinemas around like it anymore which makes it even better!!
Extremely friendly gentleman who runs it. Very polite and kind. Free coffee which you can take to your seat. Old and quirky cinema.
