Alvanley Family Practice

Thanks to our friends at Starting Point Community Learning Partnership & Coffee Shop we welcomed visitors from Australia today who were interested in community development and self care. We helped them understand some of what our brilliant volunteer Practice Health Champions at Alvanley Family Practice do by taking them on their weekly walk.

It’s our regular Singing for Health hour today at Starting Point Community Learning Partnership & Coffee Shop. 14.00 - 15.00.
So many people say to us “but I can’t sing”, well we hope this video shows the laughter and friendship is as important as the singing

This afternoon practices across Stockport are closed for training. Once a quarter we all meet to make sure we receive the same talks, updates and information. Today items such as Safeguardong and Cancer Care are being discussed.
If you need us after 12.30 please dial our number and follow the instructions. If you need to collect a prescription they will be at Lloyd’s on the ground floor.
We’re back as normal on Wednesday morning at 8.00

Anyone missing a lovely brolly?

Tonight’s event at Starting Point Community Learning Partnership & Coffee Shop was incredible. We had wonderful visitors from St George’s School in Hyde and their PTA, we asked questions without fear of being judged - the best reaction came from the question “are Muslim men really in charge?”, the reaction was the same as you would expect any group of women being asked that question. An outburst of laughter!
But the last comment went to one Woodley resident who said “I’ve learnt something tonight. I thought women in scarves were unapproachable, now I know you could all be my friends”.
A perfect end to a wonderful evening

Kay needed to nip over to Starting Point Community Learning Partnership & Coffee Shop to chat about this evenings event so of course took the opportunity to scoot rather than walk. She said;
“I got some double takes from people doing their shopping but was there in a flash. Great fun too!”
