We called in tonight on the way to the Christmas market for an early dinner. We beat the crowds as I think there was maybe 4 other people in. We were greeted warmly, very friendly approachable staff. I had the pepperoni pizza and my husband had the lasagne. All very nice. The chips with the cheese and garlic were amazing. My husband had the pistachio cake and after a taste I was so bummed I didn't order that. I had the cheesecake and it was lovely. Great experience, would recommend and go back. Also reasonably priced :)

User

It was our first visit. We were welcomed by a lovely chap, given glasses of lemonade, and left to mull over the menu. We had three courses, there was no rush, the whole meal was delicious, the staff were friendly and we really enjoyed it. We will definitely be returning.

Brilliant service and great food. Staff are always lovely and make the experience great.

User

Amazing service and beautiful food. It had to be one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, thank you.

Went for early dinner on Bank Holiday Monday. Unfortunately they were a bit short staffed.

Food however was tasty and hot, if a little slow. One item was forgotten which was promptly remedied.

Desserts were obviously sitting around for a while as my ice cream boat was basically no ice!!!

However, we’d go again, we like the food, always nice and clean as well.

We called in for lunch on probably the snowiest day of the year, although only one chef and one waiter made it in they did very well , we had to wait but we was in no hurry enjoying a glass of soviegnon. We shared a starter platter and then enjoyed the belly pork and pasta dish . All was delicious

User

Tasty food, waitresses were attentive at the right time and food and drinks came quickly. Only downside was I ordered the chocolate etna but sauce wasn't hot enough to actually melt the chocolate which was disappointing but delicious anyway.

User

Went with the family for the vegan gluten free menu...

Was a bit gutted that as a vegan cealiac I was pretty good limited to what I could have

On the plus your vegan Gf pizza Base was incredible...please add some more options...

User

Went for a family meal 20/06/17 where the food was lovely and a short delay on our food due a chef shortage, we was disappointed with the service thought we had gone to a wake as the staff didn't look happy or very friendly until it was time to pay the bill of course then it was 2 minutes of nice conversation before being handed the card machine stating tip yes or no.

I have only been to the Ask in Ipswich,

This was my first visit to the Bury St Edmunds one

I have to say I much prefer my local Ipswich restaurant as I found there to be not enough staff to cope with the volume of people,

We were left for long periods of time between courses and was never offered any cheese or pepper either.

I wasn't very impressed to be honest

User

Group of 6. All the food was very delicious. Friendly waiters. But had to ask for them to turn the air conditioning on. And when it was time to pay the bill could not attract anyone's attention.

User

Foods ok generally, service not so, if it wasnt for clubcard vouchers id never come(next time going elsewhere)....apparently dough balls are ment to be burnt to make sure they are cooked.....I think not!!!

User

Chairs are sooo un comfy went there to celebrate family members anniversary the atmosphere was dull and sooo quiet no music and felt awkward to talk or even laugh, staff were just tip toeing around and the food was okay but over priced it tasted like it was not fresh and bland, if there was improvements then yes i would go back has alot of potential but its settling on good at the moment! :)

User

Very disappointed. If when we arrived we were informed of their chef shortages, although I saw 3, and told of the wait we could of had the option to leave. For a bank holiday, 28th May, they weren’t busy around 26 people. We were informed at the beginning of there being no salmon or chips. We ordered our starters, I then placed an order for sea bass to be told they didn’t have that either. We waited 45 mins for 1 garlic with cheese starter but not once did the manager come to explain only when we stopped him he explained the problems. On just about finishing the starter the mains arrived. On the whole the food was average but the service extremely poor. Our server gave us a discount and apologised but as for the manager he looked very uncomfortable. Better communication could have made this visit better all round.

Unfortunately I was disappointed with my first visit. Initially, we were greeted in good time when we arrived at 12:00, seated at our pre booked table, drinks on the way, and food ordered.

We received the starter course at 12:20, pretty good service, starter was lovely.

It went somewhat wrong for the second course, it had taken roughly an hour for the main course to arrive, only my course arrived. I didn't want to start before my son and daughter, and basic manners, however risotto must be eaten hot to fully enjoy it.

10 minutes later the other main courses arrived. Service was poor, food was great thank goodness.

Didn't feel friendly. Would I go again, for the food yes, the overall service, no thanks

I don't normally bother with reviews but after my visit yesterday I feel i need to. We went for a meal with work, there was around 15 us and from the start we was made to feel like an inconvenience. Constant comments because we wanted to go to the bar to get our own drinks of how it would be easier if we would just order together and how we was going to take up all the change (even though most of us paid by card) when your in a group that big its not easy to get one person to pay and then sort it out after.

On top of that we had asked about vouchers as a few of us had some one lady told us it would be ok as we was paying separate even though we was on a large table.... when i then went to pay at the bar before leaving the guy that had been rude all night then spoke to me like i was a child to say how we was on a large table so it wasn't allowed the way it was said was not acceptable and then he put a service charge on my bill!

After 12 years in customer service i have no problem with tips if people are polite but to have to pay a service charge for how we was treated is disgusting i left in tears on what was supposed to be a nice night out to say goodbye to a colleague. I dont think any of us would npe re visit and definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone. Staff need to all be on the same page and have some manners

User

Awful experience with waiter. food ok service very slow arrived at 1.30 left at 3 vvvvv slow. Had two 4yr olds with us so difficult to entertain for 30 mins while waiting our starters.

Asked for straws for the kids drinks nothing came so used our drink straws.

When paying bill complained to waiter for wait and lack of straws. He said started arguing with us asked to see manager be stormed off saying ‘whatever’

Spoke to the duty manager who said would have given us a discount if we hadn’t paid! Complained again he spoke to the general manager who was in the restaurant but didn’t come of and speak to me? There was still nothing he could do.

Really disappointed
