Has anyone come across an interesting note in a second handbook? I know I have read a few that made me smile, but I can't remember them.
$100 donated to help Lombok Earthquake Support.
We have just made a £107 donation to http://www.tasikoki.org Many thanks to the customer who insisted on paying more than the full price for some of our bargain books. Why not volunteer with Tasikoki? It's in a very beautiful and interesting part of the world.
Philosopy books very hard to burn! Have been experimenting with lighting fires in the shop. Delighted to say that the books don't catch light as easily as we thought. So we are definitely going ahead with Rat Bit Kit's Kurious Kampfire for Lancaster Live in October!
We are updating the shop web page. The online bookshop was badly in need of a spring clean.

To team Jupiter who left us this NCS project poster. I cannot find the Youtube link. Please let us know and we will link it to this page.
I must have read James Tiptree's stories but I can't remember any. Now I'll look out for them.
A really interesting short documentary on the political situation in Lebanon. It also throws light on a lot of other problems in the Middle East.

The Atticus One Minute Monologue Competition 2018 We are still looking for entries for our one minute monologue competition. It's fun, you can write one in under five minutes* and there are two prizes of £50 to be won. Details and examples on the Atticus website www.atticusbooks.co.uk * Or you can spend days agonising and perfecting your miniature masterpiece.
If it rains you can always suggest some books to go on the reading list we are sending the president. See below. https://www.facebook.com/events/253397538 799862/
A message from the Cornerstone Cafe on Sulyard Street, next to Dalton Square: If people want to make a placard that Celebrates Humanity and Hope, then The Cornerstone Cafe is opening for people to do so. Come along for 4pm to make a placard, just bring your cardboard and we'll provide an artist to build your confidence and some marker pens. The cafe is staying open for longer on Friday to ensure there are accessible toilets and the Changing Place for all at the demo, of course and also food and drink to take away to the picnic or to eat in.
While everyone else was watching football I thought I had better prepare for the imminent arrival of Donald Trump.
If the person who left Fear & Loathing in Atticus reads this. Let us know, we have set the book aside for now.
Many thanks to Luna for a wonderful evening in the shop. Some tunes from France, Spain and America, as well as original songs about Sunderland Point and beyond. Curlew on the Causeway is my current ear-worm! Tuneful, clever, cheerful and poignant. We hope they will return to Atticus for the Lancaster Live festival in October as part of the fantastic line up we are currently planning.
