So a bit of RJX history, for those that may not know it. The original RJX design was in fact called the NRA ( new regional airliner) and it was envisaged that BAe would sell the NRA along side the 146. However one of the main points for the 146 was its four engine safety factor, something completely missing from the NRA due to it having just two powerplants. At some point the NRA became the RJX, and still featured the two CFM 56's stretched fuselage and a redesigned wing. Th...is would have put it in direct competition with the smaller airbus family (A319, A318) and of course the smaller 737. It is "rumoured" the two engine design was dropped due to the close working relationship BAe shared with airbus, so the mild redesign of the then Avro RJ became the RJX with new engines, updated avionics and redesigned cabin.
There's a bit of confusion relating to "our" RJX being the last ever UK built airliner, whilst its the last type, it wasn't actually the last to be built, there were 7 further Avro RJ's completed at Woodford before the site shut.
G-IRJX is the world only complete Avro RJX in existence, with only 3 being completed, the others were G-ORJX which a cabin trainer used at BAe Prestwick and one other which never attained its full registration G-6-391. '391 only flew 7 times before it was scrapped.

as Theres “not much going on” at the moment, here’s a video off YouTube of a visit to the RJX. So if you’ve not been it shows you what its like and has one or two members of the volunteer team in it! This wasn’t filmed by any of the team, just a visitor to the viewing park.

With the RVP being closed until further notice, we should look at how far we’ve come as a team of really great people that have given up there free time, and had some great experiences since we started in 2017. once this is over or we’re at least back to a semi state of normal, the team will be back, with hopefully bigger plans !

as Usual, good turn out today for the engineering day on the RJX. Due to work loads we weren't able to open the aircraft up as hoped, but we will look at this again on the next day. Usual checks and maintenance, which were glad to report that there is no damage evident from the recent storms. the seats inside were reconfigured as per the test flight arrangement. the water ballast pump was reconnected which is great, we will look at making this functional in the near future.... The starboard nav light needs removing for cleaning and this proving challenging due to the wonderful triwing screws! So this needs continuing next time. We were donated some genuine RJX passenger service units so we had a look at utilising them on our Cabin fit area. Both landing light covers removed and cleaned as well. And good to see a family member parked up at the “business jet” area today

We have a engineering day tomorrow at the runway visitor park. We are planning to open the aircraft up with the flight deck open for tours for most of the day, this along with the usual engineering day activities. If your going to be at the RVP, drop by to meet some of the team and have a look around the worlds only complete Avro RJX!

Sad to see the demise of Flybe/British European/ jersey European. They were a big player in the 146/ RJ world and would have been a launch customer for the RJX. Hope the good people there go on to bigger and better things.

Good turn out as ever from the team on what was a really cold and increasingly windy day, the aircraft was washed over again as it seems to be very dirty the winter. The steps were attended to, all tyres checked, nose tyres cleaned and rotated, seats rearranged in the rear cabin due to two rows being “removed”. Also, both rear doors cleaned and lubricated, along with all the usual inspections et. Quite a few visitors to the aircraft, which is always great to see.

Good turn out on a grey and windy day. The aircraft seems to have attracted a fair bit of grim since our last visit, so an impromptu clean was carried out by one man army Duncan Hamilton. we sorted out the rear hold to gain access to some seats that were required. Other jobs carried out were, tyre pressure checks, replacement lock fitted to an internal door, vacuum of the public space in the aircraft, nose wheel rotation, the usual inspections etc
