About Balanced Life

We are a Personal Training and Boot Camp org, providing bespoke fitness and coaching sessions for everyone. Our aim is to get you to your goals!

Balanced Life Description

Our mission is to work along side our clients, agreeing achievable goals and working together to reach them.

There is no one size fits all and we ensure that the program you are on is one that will help you reach your targets whilst learning and enjoying the experience along the way. Ultimately we will teach you how to both look after and feel better about yourself.

I just took a chair class for 15 people a the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Centre in Bury today. First time I had been there and they all worked really hard in this heat! What an inspiration they all were. No excuses for the rest of us!
You may want to take care in this weather, but you can still do a little to stay active, just moderate the exercise, stay hydrated and keep enjoying it!

How are you all coping with the heat?
Try not to let it put you off your exercise routine, ever if you just cut down the time or intensity you work out. Go for a walk instead of a run?
Make sure you are drinking enough water and if the air is really dry, try to keep some bowls of water dotted around to put some moisture back in the air. Indulge yourself a little and add some essential oils. The dog and I are fed up of the pesky flies, so I have mixed citronella oil with so...me water in a bottle and sprayed it around the house, it seems to have got rid of them and the house smells lovely and fresh.

Water water water........
Many of you will have heard my ask this before, but, are you drinking enough water?
The weather has been very hot and humid the last few days and is set to continue. I have already spoken with a couple of people this week who have been feeling tired, lethargic, head achy, and generally unwell and when they have thought about it, they have realised they have been dehydrated!
... You should be drinking between 1-2 litres of water a day and if exercising or being active in this weather, it should be more. If you haven't already, go get yourself a big glass right now. Add fresh fruit or slices of cucumber to make it taste a little different. My favourite is cucumber and mint!

SO I have only just got around to watching The Truth About Carbs. (See link below)
Up until today I had heard conflicting view points about it. Many thought it was very interesting and others thought it was too biased and was going to fuel the "lets hate carbs, they make you fat" regime, so here is my take.
It was overall a reasonably informative programme. It did make carbs out to be the baddy, but it was what they called beige and white carbs, those laden with sugar and i...n general, processed. The 'good carbs', found in vegetables, grains, pulses etc were highlighted and discussed as well.
The trials they ran with Type 2 diabetics was really interesting and had great results, and rather than bore you with too much waffle, (the non-carb variety), I would summarise (which is my beliefs and feeling most of the time): Aim for a balanced diet, with a good mix of Carbs, Proteins and Fats. Steer clear of as much overly processed foods as possible.
Fill up on vegetables, fruit, pulses and foods that look as close as possible to the original state and eat small amounts of sugary and fatty products, if that is what you like and you know are not harmful to any medical issues you may have. If you have a spare hour, it is worth a watch and see what your take is on it.
If you have a medical issue that can be affected by the foods you eat, you should ensure that you see a Doctor or registered dietician before making any drastic changes to your diet.

Sara makes me feel very comfortable in my PT sessions and is very supportive, she really pushes me and gives me the motivation I need! I also attend her Monday night boot camp sessions which are a real killer but so much fun! She comes highly recommended!
