OPT IN FOR THE CLUB TO RECEIVE WIMBLEDON TICKETS: deadline 14th Feb
The number of Wimbledon tickets we're allocated each year is greater if we have more people 'opted-in', so please do so if you haven't yet, by 14th Feb. Details on how to do this below.
The club will host an event in April or May when we pull names out of a hat to decide who gets the tickets (first out gets first choice etc). There is no commitment until you are offered an actual ticket (they come in pairs), ...and you accept. You would then need to pay the price of the ticket you choose.
HOW TO OPT IN:
1. For the minority who have yet done so, you need to join the LTA. It is free. Click on the 'Join' button top right on the LTA home page: https://www.lta.org.uk/ . Scroll down the page and select 'Lite membership'. Being a member gives you occasional updates about happenings in the tennis world, among other benefits. The membership website for the LTA is called 'British Tennis' and you become a 'British Tennis Member' when you join this.
2. Second, opt-in to the Wimbledon Ballot. Click on your initials at the top right of page when you have logged into British Tennis, and select 'Members Home'. In the main body of the page that comes up you'll find a Wimbledon Ballot news item. Clicking here is the way to opt in.

A great turn out today for our Christmas tournament. Thank you to all who came, and especially to Millie for organising the event.
Our 2019 Christmas winners were Louise and Ben who narrowly beat Mel and Chris.
And some good Christmas jumpers, cakes and mulled wine were enjoyed too!

On the Saturday between Christmas and New Year please join us for an American doubles tournament.
This involves everyone who comes along putting their name into a hat at the start. From that we'll set up as many doubles as we can, play for a fixed amount of time, and then repeat, as many times as we can. The winner will be the individual with the highest personal score at the end of the tournament.
-Saturday 28th December... -Please arrive 10am to start play at 10.30am -Open to everyone -£1 to enter -Just show up on the day -Supporters welcome - Mulled wine and mince pies will be served (and any food contributions would be very welcome) -Christmas jumpers are encouraged -Finish time approx 1230, drinks in the Anglers afterwards for those that want to

Thursday 14th November: CLUB MEAL and AGM
It's just over two weeks now until our club social at the Anglers Rest in Bamford at 730pm. Everyone's invited - club members, their family, any well behaved pets - to join us for an evening meal.
This will follow on from the AGM that will be held 6.15-7.15pm the same evening, also at the Anglers, and again everyone is welcome (though non-members and pets cannot vote).
... While you can come to the AGM free of charge sadly you have to pay for your own meal! But it would be lovely to see lots of you there :)
Please let us know by replying to the email you will have received if you will be coming to either the AGM, or the meal, or both, by the end of this week Sunday 3 November.
The AGM agenda will be: 1. Apologies 2. Minutes of 2018 AGM 3. Chairman's Report 4. Financial Summary 5. Membership Summary 6. Teams Report 7. Juniors Report 8. Social tennis Report 9. Election of Officers 10. Election of Captains 11. Any other business
Look forward to seeing many of you there. Please ask if you have any questions!

When the weather allows there’s still lots happening at the club…
This week we’ve had a few midweek social mixed doubles, well-attended Friday junior coaching and two wins for our mixed teams 🎾🎾😀😀 (on Wednesday in the floodlit league run by Grove, and today at home in our first Saturday winter mixed league).
Not looking so good for Sunday morning social tennis today 🌧🌧 but hope to see you down at the club soon, one way or the other!

Making local headlines again, but it's the juniors this time!

ADULT COACHING Fridays 6, 13, 20 September
There will be three rusty rackets sessions on Fridays 6-7.30pm: 6, 13 and 20 September. These sessions are organised by our regular club coach, Pete Ledbetter, and his team. They are designed for social members wanting to improve their tennis and for those who are either fairly new to the game or simply on a come-back trail after a gap.
The cost is £7 per player per session, and we need a minimum of 5 players signed up for each sessi...on to run. As a result, we will ask those interested to indicate their interest a week in advance of each session. We’ll send a reminder week by week to do this.
If you already know you would like to attend, please let Paul know: paulrdickinson1@outlook.com
