On the countdown to the Easter weekend and our Beechwood bunnies and chicks are proving popular! Thank you to all our "knitters and natterers" and to ONP Solicitors for the wonderful donation of crème eggs.

You can't keep a good woman still ... and that's certainly true of Hilary, who works as part of the team in our Macmillan Information Support hub here at Beechwood. Many congratulations, Hils. You have made us proud once again. #teambeechwood

Due to an incident directly outside our Heald Green shop in the early hours of this morning, the shop is currently closed to protect the safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, which is entirely outside our control. Rest assured we will still be awesome when we re-open!

Page followers will remember us telling you all about 'our' wonderful Margaret, bravely taking on running a 10k each month to fundraise for charities close to her heart, of which we are proud that Beechwood is one. Here's a lovely photo of Margaret looking as fresh as a daisy following her run at Arley Hall. Congratulations Margaret!

We are getting in the Easter mood here at Beechwood and the chicks and bunnies so wonderfully crafted by our nifty knitters are flying out the door (not literally - particularly in the case of the bunnies!). If you have been busy with the knitting needles on our behalf, please could you drop your finished works of art into the centre? We'd like to give a special shout out to Sainsbury's Bramhall for their very kind donation of Cadbury's creme eggs at the weekend. Cheers folks!

It may be April Fool's Day but we're not kidding you - the Beechwood fundraising wagon never stops rolling and this Sunday, 7th April, our lovely friends at SKEight Coffee Shop are holding a fundraiser day with coffee, cake, raffles and some wonderful stalls. Bob down to Station Road in Cheadle Hulme and spoil yourself - all money donated and made through the day comes straight to Beechwood.

User

As we celebrate Mothering Sunday, those who are not able to share this special day with their Mums are particularly in our thoughts.

User

Don't forget that the clocks "spring" forward tomorrow guys and gals so a quick tour of the homestead doing the necessary before the head hits the pillow tonight will ensure you don't get caught out. Let us know which one you forget ...!

There just aren’t enough superlatives to describe what a truly wonderful afternoon we shared with our friends at our “Afternoon in Paris” Ladies Lunch on Friday last at The Hilton. There were tears, there was laughter but, above all, there was fun – and an awful lot of it as you will see from these photographs. A massive shout out goes to our amazingly courageous and stunningly gorgeous survivor models (didn’t they scrub up well?), to Dave Ernill for so bravely sharing hi...s family’s story with us, to our extremely talented entertainers, to Saving Grace Events and to everyone who made contributions both large and small to make the day the huge success that it was. People who met as strangers when the event started were firm friends by the time they reached Cloud 23 Bar at the end of the afternoon – that’s the magic of Beechwood. As one guest was kind enough to email in and tell us… “We had such an amazing time! Honestly, from start to finish it was just a perfect event”. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you and see you all next year!

Thank you Beechwood. I am a 13 year breast cancer surviver!!

After dealing with the shock of my Cancer diagnosis in 2003, I wanted to find a way how best I could help myself in the recovery process.

As many people know, it's scary facing treatment. 6 month's chemo. 21 day's radiotherapy. My 2 children were 17 and 15. Still at school and college. Every parent knows, it's a difficult time. The pressure was on to keep thing's as normal as I could.

With the help of the best wig I could afford, and The Beechwood, i got through. I live near the Beechwood and knew it was a cancer centre, but I didn't know what they offered.

I managed to get on a 12 week course and waited to start. From my first visit, I knew this was the place I could be myself. I could show fear and anger, and discovered complimentary therapies. It was a life saver for me.

Doctor's at Christie's couldn't believe how fast I was healing. I explained I was having Reiki as a complimentary therapy. There was a lot of raised eyebrows. I got radiation burns, but with the help of Reiki and Aloe Vera, I made a speedy recovery.

I went on to train as a reiki therapist - 3 years and returned to the Beechwood as a Volunteer Therapist.

I really don't think I would be here today without their help.

Thank you Beechwood!!

My mother-in-law attended when she'd finished her radio therapy, it was a real blessing for her. She was 82 then and although not well at the moment is normally well and will be 86 in June. We have bought vouchers for her to have therapies since then, she just loves it. Thank you Beechwood. Xx

I had bereavement counselling here after my dad passed away.

It was 6 weeks from his diagnosis till he passed so coming here felt like a safe Haven.

Private,calm an quiet.

Beachwood helped me stay grounded through my grief.

I can’t put into words how great full I am and I I can go back whenever I need to.

User

I can't recommend Beechwood highly enough, the staff, volunteers and other patients are truly amazing people.

If you or any family or friends are unfortunate enough to need to use Beechwood, do not give it a second thought.

It becomes your oasis, where you look forward to going to each week.

The best phrase I can think of is that Beechwood takes the misery out of cancer.

A special special place.

User

From the second you walk into reception there is just a feeling of calm. Beechwood have been absolutely brilliant these past 12 months, and have helped me enormously (and still are doing!) to get through the most difficult set of circumstances ever.

Until you need that support, you don't realise how important Beechwood is to so many people. I really don't know where I'd be if I hadn't found Beechwood - my haven for a couple of hours where the staff/volunteers etc always go above and beyond. Thank you! X

User
