The team members here at Berry Lane Medical Centre have been taking part in ADLENT which is an initiative to collect food for the food bank during the period of Lent. Instead of buying ourselves treats, we have been purchasing food, toiletries, baby food and other household essentials - this is what we have collected in the past few weeks. We will be donating all of these items to the Longridge food bank. We all hope that you have a lovely Easter.

Please note that the service that we operate on a Saturday morning is not the same service that we are able to provide Monday - Friday. There is not an emergency surgery on a Saturday, we have a limited number of appointments available and once these have been booked, patients will be advised to contact 111 for medical advice. There is no home visiting service on this day either, any requests for home visits at the weekend should be made to 111. Thanks

MenACWY Vaccine Are your eligible? Were you born on or after 1st September 1996 and have not yet had your 25th birthday? If so, did you have your MenACWY vaccination at school? (you may need to ask your mum or us?) If you have not had your MenACWY vaccination, please contact the surgery to make an appointment or to discuss with the nurse.
... MenW is rising rapidly. Cases have been nearly doubling each year, so MenACWY vaccine was introduced in 2015. MenW is a particulary virulent strain. It causes severe disease in healthy young people and is harder to spot and more likely to kill than other strains. Vaccination with MenACWY also protects you against other strains. You'll also be protected against MenA, MenC and MenY meningitis and septicaemia. Getting vaccinated will help stop the spread of MenW. This means that other people are less likely to get MenW, including your friends and family. Teenagers and young adults have a higher risk than other age groups.
