We had an amazing time at the Royal Clifton last night celebrating our parents 65th Wedding Anniversary. The team we’re amazing especially Tom, every one loved the food and for those who stayed we all had a brilliant night and superb breakfast. Nothing has been too much trouble for Ruth and the events team. Thank you all
It got off to a fabulous start as we were given a refurbished suite which was absolutely beautiful with a great view, though would have been even better with clean windows. We decided to have evening dinner in the restaurant & were not dissapointed. Truly amazing value for money, it was our romping up the bar bill that was the expense. Breakfast was really good too with plenty of choice. We found all the staff warm & friendly, with a special menu to Steph who allowed us to check in early. Only grumpy face we saw was this morning & he was delivering clean towels to housekeeping & to be fair, in that heat doing that, who wouldn't be grumpy. We really have had a great time
Had a lovely 2 night stay & the staff were so friendly especially in the restaurant & met a special young lady who made our last nights stay a good one Zenna than you so much & keep up the good work
Booked Sunday lunch for the family today, and as always we were well looked after by the team. Food was lovely and they couldn’t do enough for us.
Yes there are areas around the hotel that are tired but in my view as long as your team are happy, helpful and professional then it doesn’t matter, those Maintenence issues can get sorted but it takes more to have a united team who care.
Been here with my husband about 6 times now and back for Valentine's day with the in-laws (there first time ) we absolutely love the hotel rooms are spotless clean comfy .staff are smiley friendly. The spa is very good love the sauna can't wait to come back also try the food it's stunning
You have to pay for parking now...and our room 247 was a bit tatty the pillows were a bit flat and no extra ones ...the kettle leaked steam onto the handle when you poured it..stainless steel type. ..but the staff and food very good...
We were there for a murder mystery evening. A brilluant event. Food ok and served hot. Staff realky friendly. Place could do with an update. Room clean but really old fashioned. Lot of noise from selfish guests at 1.15 in the morning but not the fault of hotel. Breakfast plentiful and a good selection. Maybe parking should be free!
Top place to stay. Staff very pleasant and helpful food at dinner was brill good choice and came hot. Hotel does need a facelift which they are doing as quick as they can do. Didnt begrudge the £5 parking charge as if you parked outside hotel it would still cost you this all in all brill stay and will definately return
I liked it and staff were very helpful and friendly and the food and drinks were very nice..Only problem was it was impossible to get any hot water either from the tap in the wash basin or the bath tap or shower..Did inform staff at reception but was told that it was the fact that all of the rooms in the hotel were booked it may have been caused by over demand..But I suggest this was not the reason..
Enjoyed our stay, i think the hotel is in the midst of upgrading , very helpful staff moved our room with a view of a brick wall to a really nice room on third floor , nice evening meal & breakfast, shame not free parking though , would stay again as i love the older hotels that have character
Booked a spa day with afternoon tea for my hubby and I had a fantastic day food was very good with great service.Megan in the spa was very helpful couldn't do enough for you and the treatments were amazing ! Thank you for a memorable day my hubby and I are looking forward to returning in the near future
We went for spa day but when we got there they could not provide treatments for 5 of us out of 10 as people hadnt turned in for work. However sue on spa reception was fantastic and apologised. Duty manager was lovely too. We felt the hotel lacked organisation and lack of staff. The receptionist at the hotel was quite abrupt and unhelpful. She never smiled and no great customer service. Sue however would be ideal there as she was happy n obliging at all times. It did not put us off goin back to the hotel as the rooms were fab. Just need to get their act together.
Stayed on 25/6/18
Chair lift for wheelchairs not working and it was the same 2 years ago said someone coming to fix it (when??) so had to change room, lift too small only just fits a wheelchair... staff in dinning room at breakfast need to be more aware of guests waiting to be seated, we felt they just could not be bothered. Could do with more rooms to have wetrooms instead of fancy baths and £5 to park ???? The 5 star for me is location only.
My wife and l have been to several B.W. Hotels, and this wasn't a patch on the others.
A very, very tired hotel, lucky we only stayed two nights, the breakfast buffet was cold , but dinner was good and the staff as always were very good, l don't think l would go back until they have a major refurb.
Good location but the hotel is in need of major refurb. Looks like they have started as our room was really clean and well presented
Breakfast was not good, fake beans, sausages that were more cereal than meat and watered down orange juice. The plate of fried eggs even had two black and blue ones on it. Yuk
Shabby and run down, not worth the £100 a night they are charging, also they charge for parking which is a disgrace i think, staff friendly which is the only positive, will not be returning.
Refurbished? Seems like a coat of paint and a new carpet. I was expecting a USB phone charger in the the 'Refurbished' room, no such luck. £9.50 for a sandwich made from awful produce, I really should have sent it back. Breakfast well below average for class of hotel and the staff appeared to be 'unhappy in their work'. £5 parking for guests! The food at the evening buffet was not good in choice or quality. Official Star rating is based on facilities and not service so on service I cannot recommend this hotel above 2*.
Absolutely appalled following my attendance here last week to photograph a clients wedding. Not a single element of the day was organised from start to finish but the highlight for me was me asking for the events manager to announce the speeches. Took them 10 minutes to find a microphone then the 'food supervisor' handed the microphone to the groom!! Word of advice - give your staff some training, they are in serious need of it. There were an exceptional few members of staff who were running around like headless chickens with clearly too much to do hence the 2 star rating and not 1 star. Such a shame as this hotel has some great potential. Finally, employ a gardener, the gardens are not up to scratch. Not a single flower or colourful plant spotted in the middle of summer.
poor management, poor customer service, appalling mistakes made for my sisters wedding day, ridiculous add on prices .... just don't bother pricing rooms in this hotel, it really isn't worth anybody's hard earned cash.
