Zayd lbn Arqam رضي الله عنه reports that the Sahabah رضي الله عنهم once asked, “O Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم , What is Qurbani/Udhiyyah ?” He replied, “It is the Sunnah of your father lbraheem عليه السلام .”
They again asked, “What benefit do we derive from it?” He answered, “A reward for every hair (of the sacrificed animal).”
“And (what reward is there for animals with) wool, O’ Rasulullah ?” they asked. “A reward”, he said, “for every fibre of the wool.” *(Ibn Majah)*

The Beloved Prophet ﷺ said:
"There is nothing dearer to Allah during the days of Qurbani than the sacrificing of Animals. The sacrificed animal will come on the day of judgement with its horns, hair and hooves (to be weighed). The sacrifice is accepted by Allah before the blood reaches the ground. Therefore sacrifice with an open and happy heart." [Tirmidhi & ibn e Majah]
... Time of Qurbani is from dawn of 10th Dhul hijja (best to do after Eid ul Adha Salaah) to 12th Dhul hijja (3 days and 2 nights).
Qurbani is Wajib (compulsory) on any Muslim who is sane, pubescent, wealthy and resident (not travelling).
** Wealthy = having more than the amount needed to look after ones basic needs.

10 Nights Equivalent to Layla tul Qadr!!
Sayiduna Abu Hurairah narrates:
The Beloved Prophet ﷺ said:
... "There are no days more beloved to Allah that He be worshipped in them than the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah; fasting every day of them is the equivalent of fasting a year, and standing every night of them (in prayer) is the equivalent of standing on the Night of Qadr." [Tirmidhi]

Firework message
Asalaam o Alaikum from Oldham Mosques Council. Please read and more importantly please ACT upon it!!.
There have been many complaints to the Council and Police of people being disturbed by fireworks being set off during the day and night over the summer period.
... We are aware that some people have been setting off fireworks to celebrate family weddings, and whilst we understand that people are excited and want to mark such a happy event, it should not be done without consideration for other people.
Whilst some people have something joyous to celebrate, this may not be the case for other residents in the local area. Loud noises (especially late at night) can be very upsetting and disturb the peace.
We would ask people to have consideration for their neighbours and the wider community, many of whom are young children, older people, and households with pets. Please reflect on this and exercise your judgement to celebrate in an appropriate and considerate manner.
Previously, a young female was injured and nearly lost her eyesight as a result of fireworks being set off and thrown inappropriately.
The law states that it is an offence for any person under the age of 18 years to possess a firework in a public place and for anyone to set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am except for: • Bonfire Night, when the cut off is midnight; • New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, when the cut off is 1am; • You can be fined up to £5,000 and imprisoned for up to 6 months for selling or using fireworks illegally. You could also get an on-the-spot fine of £90; • It is also an offence to set off fireworks between 7:00am – 11:00am if they are causing a nuisance to other residents. What can I do to avoid causing a risk of nuisance to my neighbours? • Tell your neighbours • Use appropriate fireworks - when buying fireworks, try to avoid noisy ones in sensitive locations. • Make sure pets and other animals are safely away from fireworks. • If you are using fireworks for a celebration, a Friday or Saturday is preferable and make sure they are over by 11:00pm. • Avoid letting off fireworks in unsuitable weather • Let off your fireworks in an open garden area - noise bounces off buildings and smoke and pollution can build up in enclosed spaces. • After your display, clear up firework fallout and dispose of it safely.
