Wishing the best of luck to all of our new students who are receiving their GCSE results tomorrow! We hope all your hard work pays off.
If your results aren’t what you’d hoped or you simply want to talk to someone before your enrol, we will be running an Applicants’ GCSE Results Day Clinic at the College between 2pm – 4pm tomorrow (Thursday 23rd August).

Read some individual stories from just a handful of our incredible Class of 2018 on an emotional rollercoaster of a day!

Wow, what a morning! A MASSIVE congratulations to the Class of 2018 on their record breaking results. Beating last year’s is an unbelievable achievement. And well done to all those who have starred on BBC TV and local radio and press this morning too – it’s an emotional day anyway and you all did extremely well with some added pressure! More stories and photos to follow.

If ever there’s a day to have cake for breakfast! Come and join us for a breakfast (not just cake!) and celebrate all your hard work. And turn on the BBC right now to see some smiling faces that you might recognise!

User

Look out for some familiar faces from the College on BBC Breakfast tomorrow morning! Students have been chatting to the BBC reporters this afternoon in the build up to Results Day and there’ll be live updates from the College throughout the morning’s show.
Thanks to The Yog Hut for helping with the filming location this afternoon (and the lovely snacks!).

Nearly 60 different universities and organisations visited the College as all first year students enjoyed a day dedicated to giving them all the information they need to make informed decisions about their individual futures.

User

The College's School of Art & Design welcomed all visitors to the annual Art & Design Show, which is the culmination of a year's worth of incredible creative work from students across six courses.

It was fantastic to welcome so many Year 10 students from Hillside and Litherland High Schools to the College today so they could experience A Level lessons and get a taste of College life. They were a pleasure to teach and talk to. We look forward to seeing some familiar faces at College events next year!

What a brilliant two days it’s been for our Freshers’ Days. Huge thanks to the hundreds of new students who came to experience College life before September – we really hope you enjoyed it and that you have a great summer. A special thanks too to our team of Student Ambassadors who have done such a fantastic job showing people around and helping everyone settle in. They’re a superb, hard-working, characterful group who are a real credit to the whole College.

User

We’re looking forward to welcoming our new students for their Freshers’ Days on Thursday and Friday. It’s the perfect chance to get the taste of College life before starting in September: trying out their choice of subjects, meeting their teachers and making new friends. Exciting times!

User

Congratulations to Adam, Natalie, Hannah, Jack and Hamza who will lead the College’s team of Student Ambassadors for the next year. They’re here to help new and returning students in all aspects of College life and we know that they’ll do a fantastic job of representing Birkenhead Sixth Form College.

Huge thanks to the dozens and dozens of universities, organisations and businesses that came to Futures Day today. It’s been a such an informative day for the students and they’ve taken a huge amount from it, PLUS we got glorious sunshine for a street food festival lunch outdoors!

User

Adam beat hundreds of applicants to work with the US Embassy and spend over two weeks in Washington DC, Philadelphia, Charlottesville and Durham, sharing ideas about social inclusion and building stronger communities.

My daughter went to the six form college 2014-2016 and studied psychology, law, sociology and business studies. She had a brilliant two years, made new friends, worked hard and did really well academically and is now studying psychology at her first choice university. She decided to leave her previous school and all her friends which I know was a big decision for her- one that really paid off. It was a good transition from school to university and had the feel of a small university campus. As a parent I was always really impressed by the staff and their professionalism and commitment. I would certainly recommend this to other parents and potential students.

Just finished my two years at BSFC and what an incredible to years it's been! I would do it all over again (not for fear of failing) but just to experience the teaching again! The teachers and tutors at the college are second to non and are so attentive and supportive of all students. A really wonderful and relaxed place to study that pushes you to be your best!

I have recently completed my 2 years at BSFC and am now looking to going to university. Although I move onto a new journey I will never forget my time at BSFC thanks to the teachers and tutors that helped make my time so memorable.

I absolutely loved my two years in the college, going there after transferring from another school I didn't think I'd succeed. The teachers and start at the college are nothing if not phenomenal, they helped me restore my confidence in myself and because of that I couldn't recommend it enough. The support available was second to none and through my time as head student there I was able to get good grades and get into uni to follow my dreams. If I could do another couple of years there I would without any hesitation. Special thanks to Becky, Amanda and Steve who in the subjects I struggled most in initially they made my most successful subjects.

I absolutely loved my two years at college. I made so many new friends, got so much support with exams and had teachers that were amazing. The lessons were fun and engaging! There was so much I could get involved with and the work experience I got, with the help of Rowena, really helped with my university applications. It really was a great stepping stone for university and provided me with the best experience. I can't thank the college enough!

From the onset, members of staff really prepare you for the future and you always have a platter of options to select from. Taking up Law was the best decision for me and you can really tell that the teaching staff truly do love what they do. They will always bombard you with a list of opportunities to really put yourself out there, not just to appeal to employers, but also build your character as an individual. Two years down the line and I am working part-time at a law firm that College helped me get a summer placement at. BSFC does not just push you to stay on top of your academics, but in the two years, you are molded into an individual who has a better insight about the future and how the world works. During my academic years at BSFC, my Law teacher, Paula Blakemore recommended studying abroad as part of my degree in university. I took up her advice and am now currently studying in Singapore at one of the top universities in Asia (feels so unreal!), ready to go back home in some months time and transfer my experience here into my studies back home. BSFC is the perfect location to really find yourself and what appeals to you as an individual. You are given an array of opportunities that you cannot simply get elsewhere. Members of staff really push you to achieve your best and the memories I made at BSFC stay with me, from debating at the Youth Parliament to taking part in National Bar Mock trials, to having work shadows and placements at local law firms, to learning Mandarin and so much more! I've been so enriched with opportunities at this college and I can confidently say studying here was ultimately the best decision I could have ever made.

Couldn’t have wanted better for my son. Great college catering exceptionally well for teens and their troubles. Excellent communication with parents and created a grown up environment but keeping boundaries. Couldn’t have asked for more and grateful for getting my son successfully through A levels into uni of his choice.

User

Both my son and daughter attended this college found the college inclusive supportive and both children reached their potential and enjoyed college life
