'Breaking News'
Today bluebell lodge has a couple of 'eggciting' new starters at the Nursery. Two of our eggs have now hatched. One was a nice surprise for the children and staff when they arrived this morning, and the other arrived earlier today. The children and staff have enjoyed meeting our new additions. The chicks will be in their new home tomorrow so please feel free to pop in to say hello to them when you drop of or collect your children. Please talk to your children about our new chicks, and try to come up with some names for them. Please comment your suggestions below.

The Preschool Children have had lots of fun getting creative to make this years Easter cards, we enjoyed mixing paint colours together and speaking about the colour change and the new colours that we had made. We then used wooden eggs and rolled them down the slide to create marks on our paper which we then cut into egg shapes to resemble our Easter Eggs to place on card.

Today the children in Nursery met 'Luna' to dog. The children enjoyed playing with her in the nursery garden. They enjoyed running around after her, stroking her and letting her chase them. Some of the children also enjoyed taking Luna for a walk to the local park.

The children in the preschool unit have been looking at growth and lifecycles! We have tadpoles, chicken eggs and caterpillars around the nursery which we can observe as they grow! This has been a fantastic talking point for the children and has really captivated their thinking skills, they have discussed things like, how we can ensure they are looked after? what they eat? Today we investigated and learned that tadpoles eat leaves off trees! so the children went out into the... garden and collected these so the tadpoles could have a yummy snack!
Some of the things which the children said during the activity: "Look, there is fish in there" "They will turn into tadpoles" "My mummy wants a frog!" "The water is smelly" "They will grow really big"
Why don't you have a look at what you can see developing and growing in your home environment!! Additionally, you could discuss with your children the lifecycles of animals and that baby animals and different names to adult ones!! We would love to hear all about this at nursery.

Due to expansion Learning Curve Nursery Group are looking for a Level 3 qualified Early Years Educator
Qualities we look for:
We are looking for especially talented individuals who have the ability to make every child feel special with a warm smiling face or a loving hug. You must know how to deal with heart destroying moments for a toddler i.e. being given a yellow cup when you really wanted a blue one, with sensitivity and real empathy.
... You will preferably be a fun outgoing character, with the ability to change a sad face to a happy one with sensitive words or your entertaining sense of humour. It is essential that you do not feel embarrassed about making a fool of yourself, especially if it makes children smile.
You must have the ability to multi-task, for example you must be able to conduct a floating and sinking science experiment in the water tray, whilst also being the special guest at a birthday party with numerous cakes being brought to you, along with numerous renditions of “happy birthday to you…” by children in the play dough area. The ability to sing in tune is not necessary; however the ability to sing out of tune in front of a crowd is essential. It is desirable that you have the ability to squeeze a finger gently, hold a hand, touch a shoulder or give a cuddle by instinct to reassure a shy or upset child.
You must be able to read stories so many times that you no longer need the book but each time you read it you should react as if it’s the very first time. Above all these listed qualities that we ask, you must be able to do these tomorrow in a different order, with a real possibility of something not mentioned being included.
This could be the most rewarding job you are ever employed to do and you must be able to go home with a sense of pride when you have taught a child a new skill or supported families through difficult transitions. Be prepared to feel loved, special and important to many babies, children and their families. If all of this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.

This week the children from Preschool were in the garden planting potatoes in our new vegetable patch. The potatoes have been out on the decking for a week or two to allow them to sprout and are now planted ready to grow. Please let us know what else you think we should grow?

Today some of the children from Nursery went out into the local area to spread some love and positivity to our friends and neighbours. One act of kindness can change the world, and hopefully we have change the world a little today. We have already received positive messages back from the local community so hopefully we have put a smile on the faces of some people set them up for a positive weekend.

Some of the children from Preschool and Lower Preschool visited Thornlea Care Home to engage in activities with some of the residents. The elderly residents and children do various activities together, such as playing cards, colouring, reading stories and making up stories with puppets. As you can see from the photos, everyone had a great time.
