ever good food . but a long wait between courses.

decided last minute to treat ourselves to sunday tea out,what a treat,excellent food,roast beef dinner perfect,meat & veg cooked to perfection,hubby had the halibut and thoroughly enjoyed it,first time at Bob's for us but definately not the last.

We found this place by chance - a warm welcome, good atmosphere, good food :)

We ate off the mid-week special menu.....Lovely food, brilliant service and reasonably priced. Would recommend!

Visited Bobs Smithy last Sunday . Food was served outside to us yet arrived promptly and piping hot .Eight happy customers by far the best pub lunch I've had in ages .

Tomorrow will be the third time in a week for lunch. Food and service excellent and they even let our pooch in and he loves it. Have to say has been very busy so book if you can.

The food was excellent as was the hospitality, we were looked after as soon as we walked in the door. 😁

Staff are excellent and the food is even better. We will be back !!

Smashing pub. Me and my friend came across it today. Wile on our way home from Bolton. The weather was fantastic so we poped in. Food was great ale was great. The view was fantastic from the beer garden. Lovely pub to be in on a warm day. Definitely going to go back.

Had a fantastic time celebrating New Year at the Bob's Smithy Inn last night. The food was absolutely fantastic and as always we were very well looked after!

Great place to eat and enjoy good beer. Friendly and efficient staff. Can easily cater for parties and even hikers.

Drove past many a time but never been in and so glad we did last night. Food was gorgeous staff were really nice and friendly. We wanted somewhere that wasn't the usual ding ding fried stuff like the chains we wanted proper food and this certainly didn't disappoint. Our food choices ranged from cheese and onion pie to fish dish to steak to chicken and all was well received even from the children. We will be back.

Amazing place. The food is always really tasty and the staff are lovely and attentive. Great black pudding starter on the menu and the Sunday roast beef is fabulous. We come here often as it's so nice and friendly. Highly recommended!

30 visitors for the Men of Christ Church Annual Dinner, the 2nd occasion that we as a group have used the venue. The food was excellent, we had all chosen in advance from the midweek specials menu, and the service good including drinks orders being taken at the table. It seemed nothing was too much trouble for the staff. A very enjoyable evening.

2nd time we have been. Went tonight for my birthday with the family in the restaurant and have to say the food was amazing. Had Sunday lunch and the beef melted in your mouth, fresh veg, yorkshire pudding and lots of gravy. Attentive staff, will definitely be back soon. Love this place

Nice pint of Flat Cap (a local bitter) and not too pricey. Nice atmosphere and cosy feel to the place. Didn't really agree with the rule allowing dogs in but that's just me. 8/10.

Called in on Sunday last minute decision glad we did food was lovely so were the bartenders my only criticism was the landlady who seemed to be reprimanding her lovely staff in ear shot of us in fact was quite embarassing .

Called in for a quick drink, but have eaten here before and the food has always been excellent. The reason I am leaving a review is whilst there yesterday two couples were there eating and had there pet dogs with them. The pub was very busy as usual and as dogs do, they became a little restless. They were yapping a little but nothing loud. The landlady approached the customers and asked them to control there dogs as it was offending other customers. The landlady approach to the customer offended me to be honest as I felt it was unnecessary and abrupt. Why allow pet dogs into a pub in the first place?

We have visited this pub quite a lot as its local to us but wanted to go and visit following the recent refurb. We ordered 2 drinks at the bar but didn't have any cash so wanted to pay on card only to be told they had a £10 minimum spend on card! It used to be £5 limit before the refurb so what's changed? We told the barmaid we didn't have cash and only wanted the one drink so she went to speak with the manageress, they pondered a moment and then she returned to say we can serve you on your card but that's an extra 50p surcharge...really? We told them to leave the drinks and walked out, one was already poured so that got wasted! I'm not even sure that this is legal but certainly no other bars/ restaurants in the area add surcharges for paying by card i.e the Reatreat, Blundell arms? Decided to give it another go so popped in on a Saturday afternoon for a bite to eat, tables were set in the bar and a couple of tables had people eating so asked where we could sit, the waitress asked one of the guys behind the bar who promptly told us "we stopped serving at 4pm" firstly who stops serving food right before a popular time to eat but it was literally 2 minutes after 4pm?sorry Bobs smithy but this is not good customer service and you are pushing custom away, very poor attitude.

We came yesterday for Sunday diner. The service was great drinks were coming quick and a good quality of wine and beer.

The diner was over all disappointment. Pate was suppose to be served with artisan bread and home made chutney..The bread was tiger loaf from asda and pate was definitely bought in ..home made chutney was more of a like cooked red onion with no flavour. Black pudding starter was just very basic warmed up black pudding with some cream and mustard. BEEF was cooked very well but the sides let it down...beans, cabbage and broccoli not cooked enough and just a funny portion of sweet pure like a tea spoon lol ...gravy was missing a seasoning..

The restaurant has very nice and warm atmosfere but wait for food is to long and not worthy...

We will be coming back for drinks on walks with our dog but no more for Sunday diner x

Nice pub and friendly staff ,food wasn't to my liking had Rib eye pork wasn't what I expected taste was a little offal and a bit under cooked for me .menu choice isn't much either but people are different.
