About Bolton Parkrun

A free weekly timed run in Leverhulme Park

Bolton Parkrun Description

Hello! We are Bolton parkrun, a free weekly timed run which takes place in Leverhulme Park every Saturday morning at 9am.

What is Bolton parkrun?
Bolton parkrun is just one of the many events offered by parkrun, a not for profit organisation that helps to organise free weekly timed 5km runs around the country. parkrun events are run by teams of dedicated volunteers from the local areas, at Bolton the event organisers are Alistair, David and Rowan.

How do I take part?
Taking part in parkrun couldn't be easier. All you need to do is head over to http://www. parkrun.org. uk /register and register yourself. You will then be sent a barcode which you must print out and bring to the run. Once you've registered, all you need to do is turn up at whichever event you want (include any events overseas), whenever you want, with your barcode in hand! We take care of the rest. No numbers to wear, no safety pins, no fuss, no bother. Once registered, you stay registered; even if you registered years ago, and have not run since, you will be on our system.

Do I have to be a good runner to take part?
Absolutely not. Anybody and everybody can take part at a parkrun event! We love to see Olympians at our events (and we've had a few! ), but we are most proud of those runners whose first steps in running were at one of our events. Whatever your shape, size or ability, our event is here for everyone.

When does it start?
The run starts at 9am sharp so it is best to arrive at least 10 minutes before hand. For anybody taking part at Bolton for the first time, we do a first timer brief at 8: 50am to explain the route of the course and clarify what to do with your barcode at the end of the run. We'll also be able to answer any questions you might have, just look for anybody in a high-viz parkrun vest!

Is car parking available?
Yes there is a car park next to the running track which is free to park in. This does get full very quickly though, so please try your best to use alternative methods of transport or share lifts as much as possible. For the sat-nav zombies, the postcode is BL2 6EB - just look out for the fields and running track. The entrance to the car park doubles up as a bus turnaround point, so there is a wide area of tarmac with railings either side.

Are there toilets and refreshments?
Unfortunately the park centre does not open until 9am.

User

Today was my first time at Bolton parkrun, what a fantastic team of volunteers. Everyone was friendly and the course was just lovely. The hill sections were a nice challenge and the support on the home straight was very welcome. Thank you so much, I'm sure I'll be dropping in again in the future.

User

Really nice friendly parkrun. Much busier than I'm used to and a bit hillier too but really well run and loads of helpful volunteers. Thanks from an Old Deer Park Richmond regular

User

Really friendly, well organised and well attended ParkRun. Also great facilities on site, AND tea and coffee available after your run. Loved it. Hope to be back again, once my Saturday work schedules allow.

User

Nice course, great support and organisation, would go again

User

My first Bolton ParkRun. A great route and I love the trip on the running track at the beginning and end. A lot of lovely friendly people and the sun was out so a great morning.

User

Love it xxx I'm a slow running beginner but love it everyone is so friendly and supportive xx

User

I for one love Park Run. It's so well organised, the volunteers are amazing and the inspirational cheers as you go round really help too. Thanks to you all.

User

I am from Thailand ’┐Į I came to England for traveling, I am glad to have joined park run ’┐Į on my 10th time, it is a good event and makes people who love running come to join together (park run was the first time for me to run for a long way after my first 5k ’┐Į now I love running ’┐Į ) I will be going back to Thailand soon I hope I can go to join with park run for one last time before I go back home. #parkrun whenever I comeback to England again I will join you all at park run again for sure ’┐Į

User

Hard work never killed anyone ... but Cruella The Hill!? ’┐Į Loved it!

User

Great place to run . Everyone is very friendly and encouraging you on. Couldn't think of anything better to do on a Saturday morning, and one of these days will nail that hill ’┐Į

User

Great parkrun with a good but challenging course just make sure you leave something in the tank for your second time up Cruella the hill! Pennington Flash is my usual parkrun but I will definitely be coming back to Bolton again at some point in the future. Just make sure you get there early to save getting stressed out trying to find a place to park!

User

Great Parkrun on a challenging course. Well marshalled with a friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be back

User

Friendly, happy park run. The hill can be a killer though on the second lap- but good work out!

User

First park run I've done and it was brilliant. Really well organised, fantastic atmosphere. Everyone is really friendly and all the marshals clap and cheer to encourage you and direct you round the course. Very impressed with the whole thing and I'll be going back and maybe try a few other Park runs in the area. Hope they are all as good as this one!

User

Difficult course but always fun! No wonder I always come back for more ’┐Į

User

Absolutely love the run and the volunteers are fantastic. Really create a great atmosphere. Huge thanks to them all.

User

Hard!!!

A little late starting (allowing for some struggling with parking??)

Great megaphone, track and marshals!! Thank you sooooo much :)

No km markers??

Hard hill(s)!!!

Would love to come back and improve on 26.45!!
