Perping a semi-engineering brick. Trying to minimise trowel contact thus avoiding smudging on the non absorbent face. Also a good method of producing a full joint.

Another short clip. This time placing a perp joint on a concrete block. It is often easier, less energy draining and more productive to ‘butter’ the previously laid block.

Great link this. Katie and I have been in contact. Hopefully she’ll be coming into TMC campus to speak to learners. Especially young women about entering construction craft roles. I’m thrilled for her and the awards she’s receiving. Best d ✌️ https://www.facebook.com/1392506827668140 /posts/2157389421179873/

Demonstrating trowel technique clips proving popular. So here’s another one. Buttering the perp for a brick on edge. ✌️ Best of and stay safe d

A few requests for a #mortar bed-laying clip from #brick and #construction students. So here’s one nice and slow, trying to emphasise economy of movement. Have a good day stay safe ✌️

Interesting stuff and with a headline grabbing angle. Some way away as yet in all likelihood. However the research into lowering the energy consumption used to produce building materials is one of the main challenges the built-environment faces. https://www.facebook.com/10513336322/post s/10157293531626323/

Richard with past work colleagues Ray and Steven (Budgie) with Tom who completed his tech and practical certificates with us. Ray, Steve and Tom from Bloor Homes came in for the day to meet and discuss bricky life and possibilities with our new intake of first years. Thank you for your time. Warm welcome to our new first years. Exciting times. #westsuffolkcollege

Interviewed a young man who wants to join us in September earlier today. He impressed with his enthusiasm and effort he’d made to get started. If you want to learn our valuable craft contact us now. The demand for competent craftsman is astonishing. Only today a friend from my training days in the 80s has called. Asking me to help him this week on the trowel. Stay safe d

If you’re working outside keep hydrated and apply a UV sunscreen. Hoping to be back online more with news and updates of construction at WSC. Primarily with info regarding Bricklaying.
