About Brocksbushes Farm Shop & Tea Room

Farm Shop, Tea Room and Pick Your Own Fruit Farm

Brocksbushes Farm Shop & Tea Room Description

Brocksbushes has evolved over the last 25 years from an acre of soft fruit with a tiny farm shop which was open for 8 weeks in the year to a thriving rural Retail Centre with an award winning Farm Shop, Tea Room, Pick Your Own and Garden /Gift Centre which is open all year round.

On the farm we have approx 35 acres of soft fruit, and 5 acres of asparagus which enables us to provide fresh fruit and vegetables for picking from the middle of June through till the end of October

The fundamental policy of Brocksbushes is to provide freshness, quality and choice in every department and to give our customers a pleasurable day out whether they are selecting their groceries from our varied and delicious selection in the shop, treating themselves in the Tea Room, picking their fresh fruit and vegetables in the fields, or choosing the plants for their gardens, they all are a part of the ‘Brocksbushes Experience’!

Come and see us and experience Real Quality and Real Food in a Real Rural setting!

User

My favourite farm shop and tearoom. What makes this place lovely (apart from the food) is the staff - always pleasant, always helpful and smiling and the lady in the farm shop is just a treasure. We love sitting outside in the sun with our coffee and scones.

User

Love this place - we go every summer and the kids always have a great time. It’s lovely that they can just run around the fields and the strawberries are so much tastier than the ones you get in the shops.

User

First time here today and looking forward to coming back.Very friendly lady on the fruit picking desk very helpful and informative. The fruit itself was beautiful and paid by weight. We then went to a gorgeous tearoom with a wide display of gorgeous home baked food. The cakes and scones were amazing. The shop itself had fantastic produce and lovely gifts.Very impressed and worth the travel from Blyth

User

Came to the summer fayre with my family. Strawberry picking fantastic came away with two huge punnets to make jam. Service in cafe was fantastic with delicious home made treats. Lovely day as always.

User

Absolutely beautiful place, staff are very welcoming! Strawberries are absolutely scrumptious can’t wait to come back and try the raspberries!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back very very soon!

User

Went with my friend and daughter yesterday , our lunch of corned beef pie , quiche and cheese scone was very nice , but have.had better , we ordered tea for 3 which came in about 10 minutes but waited 20 minutes for the food , by then the tea had cooled so we were given another pot of tea and pot of water, we.would go back but ask for the tea after the food .

User

Lovley farm shop which my husband and I always visit when we go to Hexham but it's just a shame that Dogs aren't allowed in as it means we don't stop for the cafe and have to enter the shop one at a time.

User

Had a lovely few hours looking around and strawberry picking with my son and my dad. Had snack in the tea room which was lovely. Only recommendation I would suggest is more signs to say where each fruits were as took us ages to find raspberries and couldn't find the gooseberries. A little leaflet would of been ideal as wasn't sure what you could put in same basket. Would definetly go again x

User

Fantastic strawberry picking although expensive. Decided not to eat in tearoom as lots of dirty tables.

Wanted to buy a cake from the shop however I was shocked when I picked it up to discover it had been frozen! Did not buy!

User

Very disappointed after visiting yesterday. We had struggled to find somewhere that had strawberries left so after seeing the recent Facebook post about new produce from Saturday 4th we thought there would lots of new fruits. Although the post said limited fruit I think this is a bit of an understatement giving that we picked about 12 strawberries between 3 of us. After giving up on the strawberry picking we went for some lunch and waited 45 minutes for a very bland and tasteless jacket potato and salad. I think they need to work on their advertising skills as we travelled 50 minutes each way as they made out they had produce and clearly after reading previous reviews the cafe is in need of some serious improvement

User

So I came today with my little one and mam everything was great until we decided to get some food in the tea room. We ordered at 20 to 1 and was told it was a 40 minute wait which was fine as they were busy, however it took them over and hour and a half which just isn’t acceptable. It wasn’t as if we ordered a 3 course meal, it was a chicken salad a jacket potato and a kids lunch box, which shouldn’t have took over and hour and half to make! Not one person came over to apologise for the wait and tbh it wasn’t even worth it. The jacket potato was burnt to a crisp and was like mush on the inside. Wouldn’t recommend the tea room which is a shame as the rest is really lovely!

User

Really really disappointed with the kids trip out today. Couldn’t find any decent strawberries worth picking so I let them grab a handful of raspberries....went to pay and had the privilege of paying what amounted to £7.50 My 3 year old and 6 year old had used separate boxes, I offered to combine them at the till but told “don’t worry for those few”. After paying I asked for my box refund but was then told “I didn’t give it you, we’re keeping it as you weren’t very organised when you came to pay” really NOT impressed with that!!!

User

A very rude member of staff who was on the exit to pay for your fruit spoilt our visit. Will not return . As I will not be spoken to in that manner in front of my children . I wasn't told you needed separate baskets . We only had maybe 12 raspberries in as they were for my tortoise yet she weighed my strawberries as raspberries as well . I didn't realise how big the price difference was. Had I had a full basket I would have complained. But place was heaving and hot so didn't really want to wait again in the long que. Management need to get rid of this woman .

User

We were having a lovely day until my younger sister got told off from a very rude member of staff for eating a strawberry although everyone else was, this lady stood with her hands on her hips and was rather intimidating especially from a young child's point of view, to the point where she said she was scared and cried. My younger siblings then talked about it all day, as it's been playing on their minds. Because they ate a strawberry!! If that's the case then why did nobody else get told? Only us! It spoilt the whole day for all of us - therefore we won't be returning.

User

We came here on a sausage making course on Sunday morning 5th August which was fantastic, the staff instructing on the course were also fantastic, however we got there early so we could have breakfast, big mistake!, the food was terrible and after asking for cream for our coffees half of it ended up on my trousers whilst being delivered to our table by a very young member of staff.

User

Visited last week, we were told lunch would be around 20 mins as we ordered, the drinks we ordered arrived within 10 minutes but the food failed to appear 45 minutes later I approached the till area only to be told ours was next on the list. Funny, as the woman that was in the queue behind me was eating her lunch and a couple of other tables that arrived afterwards were also served. Our food finally arrived, the salad we ordered had items missing, and our got drinks had gone cold! Only to have them changed but no new cups so the cold tea sat in the cup. We started to eat, only to find a hair on the plate, at this point a further complaint later we were abruptly asked if we wanted a refund so we could go elsewhere! What after waiting all that time? Not our fault you couldn’t get a basic order out correctly! My advise, this place has rapidly gone down hill, go elsewhere!

User

Staff were very blunt and not welcoming, we have had this twice now and both times on motorbike, was the opposite when I was with the Mrs in the car. Breakfast was pretty rubbish too, egg hard, bacon almost raw, sausage oven cooked and dry as sticks. Coffee was ok though.

User

Never again! Why you might be wondering! Mabe it has something to do with a female staff member shouting over the hedge with her hands on hips, (whilst my young child was eating a strawberry ) that you had to pay before eating! Realy? Thanks for making her cry by the way! So we paid £8.00 for 4 people and 4 baskets (got £4 back from deposit) so realy was it needed? Did the other £4,00 not cover a couple of strawberries? Might add that it was very busy, feilds were full of people all eating! Why then was she not telling everyone? I saw large groups of familys just sitting picking and eating, yet nothing was said to them? Whilst in the que to pay i witnessed a lady walk out with strawberries in a carrier, was she shouted at? No, and yet the same member of staff was in the kiosk when we paid and then proceded to follow us from the kiosk out of the building, hope she heard my little girl ask "can i eat one now?" Will i go back ? No! Would i recommend , no! .
