Lovely day judging the Working Hunter, Inter Hunt Relay and Ridden Shires! At Newport Show with Rebecca Bush.
Such a great show, a good old fashioned agricultural show, beautifully run with a superb main arena. So nice to be back to my old student stomping ground.
Amazing and emotional to see a flyover as part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (Official) from the last remaining Lancaster Bomber which my grandad was a bomb aimer on in WW2.

In very brief summary..... both Beau and Rosie performed 25.3 (weird) Double Clears in the BE100 today at Cooke Coachbuilders Ltd Stafford Horse Trials ‘The Cooke Coachbuilders Stafford Horse Trials’
Beau completed bang on the optimum time of 5.18 seconds for 2nd place. Rosie went out of the start box with 4.18 on the watch and guess what......?!!!! Came in nearly a minute under the optimum time of yes you guessed it 5.18 to move from 4th to 6116th place.
Just brilliant 🤦🏼‍...♀️
Conclusion..... my new saddles courtesy of amazing sponsor Voltaire Design United Kingdom have not only helped me achieve sub 30 dressage scores, but also allowed me to securely take the handbrake off Cross Country, now just need to retake my maths A level.

At Eland Lodge Equestrian this weekend, two early starts and a swerve by NCPA-Staffs Branch on the Sunday morning to jump Beau round our first HOYS Working Hunter for a good few years, I was a bit rusty but we will have another go!
Saturday saw the gorgeous Waipuna Rose win the 90 after a beautiful dressage test which left her in the lead from the start. This mare really is incredible, last week placing 2nd in the Novice Show Hack at Cheshire and 4th in the Ladies Side Saddl...e, a super versatile mare that I am lucky to ride.
Working pupil Frankie Clements had her first ever BE run on Ralph round the BE90open and did a sterling job for a very respectable 32.5 double clear finishing perfectly inside the optimum time. Lots learnt and a very well planned and executed run. Very proud to have trained Frankie since she had her first pony from me, and to now have a hand in the start of her eventing career.
Although she is still kicking herself for a navigational error XC which left her with a technical Elimination, Deb Hoggart riding our super schoolmaster The Ragpickers Dream showed her determination again, Deb is always in strong company in the Open section and works so hard to achieve her eventing dream, having formed an amazing partnership with Rags - onward and upward.
Hero of the weekend goes to Oscar (Tolantybe Z) this incredible 6yo doing his second Novice, lay 4th after dressage, lowered 2 poles in the SJ and jumped the most incredible steady XC round, he felt absolute class to ride despite his latest growth spurt which has left him a bit gangly and unbalanced with legs like a spider. A very exciting horse for the future.
Next stop DEAN VALLEY EQUESTRIAN CENTRE for the 3 day jumping show and Buckminster Horse Trials.

Too true!

What a week! And it’s not over yet!
Two days at Royal Cheshire Show, 2nd in the Novice Hack for Waipuna Rose, 5th in the local workers for Beau, 4th in the Ladies Side Saddle Horse for Rosie too.
I was also proud to be a part of the winning Cheshire Forest hunt team in the Stables Direct Inter Hunt Relay, winning the Bradley John Memorial Trophy and the Marcus Chambers Memorial Trophy.
... Thanks to working pupil Frankie Clements for stepping in to cover me in the side saddle demo when I ran out of time and ever grateful to Aimee Reeves for holding the fort at home.
Then on to Weston Lawns today for Newcomer second rounds but a couple of poles down round an imposing track.
Off to Aintree tomorrow for more jumping.
