In the news today the Government is considering a ban on shops like mine selling energy drinks to anyone under 16. I have voluntarily had a ban like this in my shop for some time now and will continue not to knowingly sell an energy drink to under 16s.
We are open today until 12:30 for papers etc.
Any retailers in Kendal be careful. We have had a European guy in the shop today trying to pass a forged Β£20 note for a pack of cigarettes. He had also been to Lloyds pharmacy trying the same thing!
Finally after a very frustrating few weeks Payzone have got their act together and replaced all our machinery so we can now accept payment by credit and debit card again. To all our customers I am so sorry if you were inconvenienced by this but rest assured all is working properly now. The better news is that we can also accept contactless
Just received this from 4th Kendal Scouts.
Due to a number of factors. We regretfully announce that 4th Kendal Scouts will no longer be running the Scout Christmas Post.
We would like to thank all those who have supported and volunteered to help this run for many years. Along with the kind support of local businesses.
... We will still be selling our Christmas Puddings which can be obtained by calling 07970 101 535.

Letter published in the Westmorland Gazette today regarding Wildman Street! Having a birds eye view from the shop I wanted to give my opinion. Here is the link if you want to take a look
Still so very true. Only 5% spent in your supermarket goes back into the local economy!! It really does make a difference to support your Independent retailers xx
If a Mrs P A O'flaherty is on Facebook and was in Burrells late this afternoon, I didn't give you back your bank card. I'm so sorry I'll hold it at the shop or I can drop it off for you if you like.
Well finally we've got there! The all new Burrells Newsagents will once again be open for business at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. To celebrate Tim Farron has kindly agreed to come along and officially open the shop at 11:15 a.m. so looking forward to seeing my customers, old and new, again.
