Brexit SME Focus: As an SME, it's fair to say SMEs form the backbone of our economy. More numerous and more varied than you can imagine, but we also face the challenges larger companies do across the country, but without the benefits of scale.
My question is… What are the effects of Brexit for SME decision makers – and how will their variety be reflected in their operations over the next 12 months? #Brexit #SMEs #Election2019 #FuturePlanning #HereForYou #AccountingMadeSimple

Brexit SME Focus: We still haven't left and now have an election to look forward too. Whether you're for or against Brexit? One thing for sure is that Brexit uncertainty still lingers in the air like a dense fog rolling across the UK.
As an SME, small to large businesses don’t know exactly what’s to come and do the experts know? Like me, I'm sure you also feel, there are so many questions still left unanswered? #SMEs #Brexit #Election2019

I recently spoke at a mental wellbeing event and to follow up, I found this article on that very subject and believe that not only accountants but all sectors need to read and build it into a staff proposition for securing and retaining staff. http://htl.li/Xcvm30pNNRl #MentalHealth #Employee #Wellbeing

Time Management Focus: From our learnings on time management, here are our suggested tips;
1. Set goals. 2. Prioritise tasks. 3. Learn to say 'no'. ... 4. Plan ahead. 5. Remove any distractions. 6. Learn to delegate and do it more often. 7. Track your time. 8. Make sure you have 'Me Time'.
These tips have certainly helped us all be more productive whilst reducing our stress levels.
Team member Amy said… "I found this daunting at first because I felt I didn't have the mindset and time. But once we all came together, doing some real thinking and getting a better understanding about the topic and tasks, it has developed me to make better decisions which has also helped me make the most of my time in work and my life out of work." #Wellbeing #HereForYou #timemanagement #productivity #mindset #focus #MakingAccountingSimple

A sense of excitement and achievement… one of our nominated charities The Joshua Tree and their new purpose-built support centre is well underway and due for completion in early 2020.
The purpose and goal is to provide a cocooned 'Heart space' open to families and offering a tranquil setting during their experiences of childhood cancer and beyond. Find out for more including a short video http://htl.li/k6SV30pLYEi. #ChildhoodCancer #StandUptoCancer #Cheshire

“There’s not enough hours in the day” – how often have we said or heard that?
We all have so much to do, time can feel like a precious luxury. However, we have the same number of hours in each of our days as Michelangelo did, as Shakespeare did and the same amount as Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos have at this moment.
So how can we be more productive? For time management tips http://htl.li/LUFO30pL6l3 #Blog #TimeManagement #Goals #Employees #Productivity #Wellbeing

Time Management Focus: Self-evaluation is never an easy task but do you see yourself in any of these time management personality types?
1. The Hopper - You love switching tasks, and find having several tasks going at one time exhilarating. 2. The Hyper Focus - You get absorbed by detail and often have trouble stopping one activity to move to something new. 3. Big Picture - You're a big thinker but sometimes ignore details, or may leave the details out of your plans entirely.... 4. Perfectionist Plus - You thrive on detail and an endless pursuit to ‘get things right’. As such, you have very high personal standards. 5. Impulsive - You love to leap but may forget to look first. You enjoy the adrenaline and would rather act spontaneously than follow a pre-set plan. 6. Cliff Hanger - You thrive and work most effectively when under the pressure of a deadline.
So which one are you? #HereForYou #timemanagement #productivity #mindset #focus #MakingAccountingSimple

Each month we get questions from people needing a bit of FREE advice on all sorts tax topics. We a very good one on Capital Gains (CGT)…
Q. Our house has always been owned jointly by myself, my mother and my sister. My sister and I now want to buy our own homes and want to make mum the sole owner of our current home. If we put the house in her sole name will she have to pay CGT on it?
A. Transferring the house into your mother's sole name will not trigger a liability to CGT, but it may have capital gains tax implication for you and your sister. However, since you live in the property, it is quite likely that you would qualify for principal private residence relief and no CGT charge would arise. #HereToYou #FreeAdvice #MakingAccountingSimple

Our Time Management Focus: Another great exercise we set ourselves to better manage our time was to develop our individual effective time management system. We looked at; 1. This is me - who we are and what makes us tick? 2. Control and beyond control - making a list of things that concern us and splitting them in to areas of control and beyond control. 3. Me time (we all need this) - in a way defined as personal space to simply just be and not to do. 4. Reframing the to ...do's - documenting a daily routine from a personal and work level. 5. Grouping the to do's - marking tasks from the list, that are specific to the day. 6. Boundaries - setting rules and limits to protect from being manipulated 7. Putting it all together and making it sustainable.
The activities helped to give us a clear map to manage our time and after a couple of months we are now starting to see the rewards of our efforts. #HereForYou #timemanagement #productivity #mindset #focus #MakingAccountingSimple

Time Management Focus:
Why it's important to get time management right… whether we assign a money value to it or not, time is valuable to us all.
How much of your typical working week do you spend stressed about not having enough time?
... We continually tackle this issue to stay productive, so looking at the bigger picture we got our team involved and asked the question "Why managing our time effectively is important, and what we stand to gain from it?"
We found by reviewing; 1. Time - It is limited no matter how it's sliced up. 2. More with less effort - Taking control of time to improve our ability to focus. 3. Improved decision making, effective time management, relieves the pressure to make informed decisions. 4. Team benefits, less stress and accomplishing more each day. 5. Self discipline, we see this as a valuable skill where everyone has benefited in their work and even homelife. With the bigger picture comes greater success for all! #HereForYou #timemanagement #productivity #mindset #focus #MakingAccountingSimple
