Tips for a healthier shopping basket
Fruit and Veg: It’s simple, just buy more fruit and veg, more salad and try a new dish each week. Think of eat as a buying fruit and veg that represent the rainbow colours. Stock up on frozen veg – they are available all year, they are nutritious and they’re great value. Get lots of herbs and spices into your cupboards – it’s an easy, healthy way to add flavour to your food and can help to lower your salt intake. Why not try to grow your ...own next year?
Carbohydrates: Try and swap the regular rice, flours, pastas and noodles for wholewheat and wholemeal varieties. Exchange regular bread for wholemeal varieties or even make your own.
Protein: Focus on quality not quantity! Be open-minded about the fish you choose to eat – be adventurous and ask your fishmonger. Try and choose free-range or organic eggs whenever you can for more protein. Always have a stash of nuts and seeds so you can add a delicious crunch and protein boost to your meals.
Fat: Try to avoid margarine and use proper butter instead, but always in moderation.
Dairy: Try and avoid sweetened yoghurt and try organic natural or Green yoghurts. Trade up to organic when it comes to milk, yoghurt and butter – a healthy investment.
Breakfast: Porridge is a nutritional wonder, so make your own mixes. It’s a super way to get nuts, seeds and dried fruit into your diet for added benefit.
Don’t forget: Resist the buy-one-get-one-free and similar offers.

There is no one golden bullet.......
The secret to a long, healthy, happy and productive life comes as a package - family, friends, community, reducing stress levels, growing, eating and cooking good food and sharing that food with the people around you whenever you can, sleeping enough and being nice to people.
What I am trying to say is that life is about joining all the little dots together to give yourself the best chance. Embrace it!

‘The management of your health is a journey and not a destination – essentially this means embrace life as it unfolds, treating it with appreciation, kindness, and forgiveness rather than be solely focussed on a specific goal. Reality is that we tend to lose ourselves in the pursuit of goals, never live in the present, never appreciate what we have – and once we reach the destination/goal, we are still not happy with what we have, and we always want more.’ #health #lifestyle #balanceddiet #journeynotdestination #nutritionjourney #appreciation #kindness #forgiveness #unfoldinghealth #liveinthemoment

Having thought about it for some time, I finally decided that I needed a specific nutrition plan so signed up with Caitlin.

As somebody who has always trained regularly with a personal trainer, the diet and nutrition side has always been left to online research which can at times be very misleading and then leads to frustration when results are not achieved within a certain timescale.

I am happy to say that signing up with Caitlin was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

My nutrition plan was completely customised to myself, taking into account not only my likes and dislikes but also how to accommodate my plan around my busy schedule.

Combined with a choice of tasty and easy to prepare meals, this then made the entire plan easy to stick to. It is also worth mentioning that I never felt hungry and also had more energy.

At the time of writing this, I have lost over 3kg in 4 weeks and can start to see the kind of results that I have struggled to achieve in the last 2 years!

If this is something that you are debating but not sure if it is for you, I would urge you to sign up now. My only regret is that I did not do it sooner.
