Cat Cafe Manchester Description

Cat Café is a new and exciting business chain which opened in Manchester in 2016.

Cat Café is a friendly and relaxed environment where customers can play and interact with cats over a cup of coffee or pot of tea. Patrons pay an entrance fee which allows them to spend time with the cats whilst enjoying unlimited drinks.

It is cosy and comfortable, a home away from home. The perfect escape for busy office workers and tired shoppers.

14 cats live at the café, all of which have been together since kittens. They have been specifically selected for their individual breeds and personalities, allowing customers the chance to interact with cats they wouldn't get to meet on a day to day basis.

Bookings are charged at £12 per hour per person, with all drinks included. Walk in guests are charged at £1 for every 5 minutes per person, again with all drinks included. You are more than welcome to come as a walk in, however please be aware there can occasionally be wait times if we are extremely busy.

We do ask that any children visiting us are aged 10 or over. For more information on our special kids sessions please visit our website at http://catcafe. co. uk /cat-cafe-events /.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

😸 Cat of the Week! 😻
Midnight is eleven years old and was originally returned to Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary because his owner sadly passed away. He is a very loving cat who loves attention and having a fuss. We think he would suit a quiet home because he can be a little shy. He was rehomed recently and returned because he was unfortunately being messy in the home and not using his litter tray, his owner felt he wasn’t the right person to help him overcome this. We are looking... for someone who is willing to adopt him despite of his habits, he was always very clean at Bleakholt. He may want access to the outdoors and would need to be the only pet. He has now been with Bleakholt for over six months and is desperate to find a quiet loving home.
If you'd like to meet Midnight, call into Bleakholt's cattery any day between 10-4. If you're interested in adopting any other cats - or pets in general - please take a look at their website: www.bleakholt.org

Cat (Or Cats) of the Week!
This is Sophie and Suzie. They came to Bleakholt through no fault of their own, and would love to find a home together as they have always been together. They are thirteen years old and absolute sweethearts. Sophie is a little shy at first, while Suzie is a little more confident. They'd suit a quiet home with no children or other pets.
If you'd like to meet Sophie and Suzie, call into Bleakholt's cattery any day between 10-4. If you're interested in adopting any other cats - or pets in general - please take a look at their website: www.bleakholt.org

Cat of the week Gilderoy came to Bleakholt after being found as an injured stray. He sadly keeps being overlooked and has now been with us for six months. We think he is around 7 years old. We know very little about his history but he is a happy cat with a loving and laid back personality. He will also do anything for a Dreamie! If you think you can offer Gilderoy a loving home, please pop in to the sanctuary any day between 10-4. If you would like to look at any of our other cats that are looking for homes please look on our website, www.bleakholt.org

Cat of the week Tilly is still looking for her forever home. Her siblings have all found homes yet Tilly has had little interest. She came to Bleakholt at four weeks old with very bad cat flu. She has made a fantastic recovery but does have some minor damage to her right eye from this. Tilly is very playful and has grown up in a foster home so is very well handled. She loves to cuddle up on the sofa with you or have a mad run around. Tilly is looking for either a home as the ...only cat or with a cat that has previously been exposed to cat flu. She can live with a dog if they are used to cats. She is still in a foster home so if you would like to meet her please call the sanctuary on 01706 822577 or email karen.weed@bleakholt.org. It really is her turn to find her forever family as she has so much to offer If you would like to look at any of our other cats that are looking for homes please look on our website, www.bleakholt.org

This is the most relaxing, friendly, amazing place in Manchester. The whole atmosphere is so welcoming and calming. The cats are absolutely stunning and I love just watching them getting up to their little antics. I love that not too many people are allowed in as it means it’s always a nice atmosphere. The staff are so friendly and clearly care an awful lot about the cats. The cats are very well looked after and the whole place is spotless. It’s clear cat welfare is their top priority with happy visitors a close second and I feel this is one place that’s really got that balance right.

User

The place was serene, spotless, odourless and a joy to be in, for both cat and human.

When using animals in business I think there is a real danger of the animals needs being neglected in place of profit... and it's very easy to tell. definitely not in this place though!!!

This is evident in how well the place is kept tidy, the cats all looked so healthy and happy with flawless coats and lots of energy and they have private rooms they can go in if they grow tired of their human company.

They all interacted with each other and the visitors in such a stress free manner.

The rules put in place protect the cats welfare and all the staff are clearly animal lovers and put all the animals need first, before the businesses needs, and before the customers needs (not that this reduced the experience in any way).

I've genuinely never seen such a space where so many animals can co-exist so well in harmony! The owners and staff have really worked hard making this concept a success; which is evident in how they have brought the best out in their moggies!

Would 100% recommend to anyone who is an animal enthusiast, or even just a bit stressed and needs to kick back and relax with a bit of feline therapy and coffee.

5*'s!

My second visit to the cat cafe yesterday and it's always lovely.

Staff are friendly, drinks nice and the cake is gorgeous.

My only disappointment yesterday was that most of the cats were actually in the back and not in the main cafe meaning I couldn't really fuss any of them, however, that's always the risk you take with cats!

Hasn't put me off, I'll be back again.

User

My husband treated me to a visit here today, we both absolutely loved it. The staff are super chilled and friendly, we were made to feel right at home straight away. The cakes are beautiful and it’s great that we had a selection of unlimited drinks to choose from. Most of the kitties were sleeping unfortunately but that’s the luck of the draw! We did manage to get one or two cuddles though! Will definitely be returning in the future!

User

Me and my friends came for an hour the other day, we absolutely loved it. The cats were lovely and the staff were very helpful. I managed to get a few pictures of the kitties that were awake and had a little play with them. The coffees were amazing and the whole environment was great. Worth the £12. Will definitely be coming again

User

Lovely, relaxing and a very well run place. The staff are lovely and the cats are clearly extremely well cared for and were all very content. I liked the fact that the staff were strict as to how many people they permitted in at any one time.

User

It was my first time in the cat cafe. It was a fab lush experience. Was very calm and relaxed and was so great to see cats and being able to interact with them. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. Great place any time of day to have coffee quite relaxed environment with the added luxury of a pat and cuddle with play or 2. I really would love to come bk again and would defiantly recommend to my friends. Thanks was awesome.

User

I visited the cat cafe on Saturday with my mum and brother and loved it. Especially when lovely, adorable Snowy sat and settled on my knee, although she wasn’t pleased that we had to go and let out a meow when the staff lady picked her up.

User

I had a wonderful time last night at the Charity Bingo for Bleakholt event at the Cat Cafe Manchester. The cats are adorable and the atmosphere is so relaxed. The staff are wonderful and it is very clear how much they think of the cats in their care. I want to say a big thank you to the Cat Cafe for supporting Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary the way they do. I will certainly be going back and we'll look forward to taking friends there.

User

I got this as a surprise for my boyfriend and it was wonderful! The staff are lovely and chilled out, it’s nice and calming with lots of places to sit and chill out and of course the cats are amazing. They are beautiful and just wonder about, snoozing in various places and don’t mind being petted. If you like cats you will love this place!

User

Great atmosphere & friendly staff. Relaxing place to have a drink and cake. Cats are obviously well looked after. Will definitely be going back.

User

Cannot reccomend this place enough. We turned up as walk ins and were told that there was about a half an hour wait for a walk in space, they took my number and text me 20 minutes later to tell me there was space. We were sent straight in, a free locker for shoes and then went through. It was a lovely environment, I understand that people are disappointed that sometimes the cats are interested but i think that even then it is so chilled and worth the money. The atmosphere is so lovely, the sofas are comfy, the people that work there know the cats and actually the fact that the cats are allowed to avoid the humans makes it a very animal friendly place. They have branded drinks and some lovely options so it’s not like you pay by time and then feel like its not worth it because you have to drink rola cola. I genuinely cannot reccomend this place enough. Thank you for a lovely day.

User

Can't reccomed this place enough. Came to surprise my mother in law for her birthday and had an absolutely great time. Friendly staff, the cats were active and lovely. Added an extra birthday surprise and the staff were great had a table reserved and balloon and card for her. Lovely atmosphere can't wait to come again

User

Was here yesterday and we all had a great time. The cafe was clean and relaxing. We had fun. I would have given you five stars, had it not been for the cost. I found it to be very expensive. It should be somewhere that people can visit often, but because of the cost, that wouldn't be affordable. Regardless, the cats were lovely and the staff were very helpful. I'm sure we'll be back :) Havva

User

This was our second visit....birthday treat for my adult daughter.....we had cake, balloon and drinks , staff were organised and friendly. Unfortunately not many cats were around when we visited on ybis occasion but the ones that were did mingle and one played quite a lot. Enjoyed the visit and will probably visit again when we are in Manchester.

User

Went here today with my daughter and have to say, after both of us wanting to go here for months, was a bit disappointed. There were only around six cats in the room, three of which were asleep the whole time (totally understand cats sleep a lot, having been a cat owner all my life) and the other three just did not want any contact and were probably totally fed up with humans. After having experienced it, I now think it's a flawed concept.

User

Really lovely place, calm, and relaxing. Would of given 5* but one of the cats (Stanley) looked really sick and underweight, I understand his breed is usually skinny but not as skinny as Stanley, when I strocked him I could feel his spine and see his hip bones, he seemed very frail.

We left our house at 7am to get to the kids club for 8am in Manchester as stated on my original email. As it passed 8am I rang the doorbell to be told that there was no Kids Club that morning as the dates had been changed. The lady went off to call the manager leaving me with a heartbroken 8yr old and her big sister. My 8yr old is apparently too young to go to the normal session throughout the day and her big surprise has been ruined by not one piece of communication to me that the date had been cancelled and rearranged. I am now in the middle of Manchester 35 miles away from home consoling two devasted daughters who have had the first day of the summer holidays ruined due to a simple administration email not been sent to save us the journey and upset. Devastated doesn't come close. I hope my daughters tears are imprinted on your minds.

My mum booked for me to go for my 'special' birthday. On booking we were told we could only go at 10am, not ideal. We got there about 9.45 and were told we couldn't go in to even sit down in the entrance and had the door literally shut in our faces, if my mum hadn't pre-paid we would have walked away. It was a cold day so we had to stand around outside til they let us in. My mum's a senior citizen and I'm recovering from brain surgery, so standing there in the cold affected both of us. I'm a very experienced persian cat owner, I also run a massive persian cat group on facebook with almost 10k members world wide, so I was looking forward to meeting the cats and giving them loves, cuddles and having them on my knee, but when we got there we saw the rules - if they're asleep don't touch them, well cats sleep 95% of their lives, but ok, the next rule - do not pick them up - this one left me fuming, why was I even there if I couldn't show those cats affection and love? I felt like I had my hands cut off. We went in, and what I saw were cats who barely played, didn't take any notice of anyone there, each time more than a couple of people went near them, they backed away feeling overwhelmed. What I saw were cats who, in essence, are being exploited. They're not in a home environment, they're with a constant stream of strangers who aren't allowed to show them love but try to hound them anyway, they're basically stuck in a 'shop window, on parade' permanently. It's a really bad set up and idea in all honesty. Will I recommend it? No, it's nothing more than a very expensive cup of coffee surrounded by cats who have become immune to visitors and are totally unresponsive. They're in an environment that is too much for them, inexperienced people/children don't know when a cat's had enough, I understand their actions and back off instantly. I am someone who cats warm to very quickly, so to not get any connection with any of them, was unusual. I really hope the cats have someone with them overnight and they aren't left stuck in there on their own. The cats themselves though are well looked after and their coats were all amazing.
