Won the new year Facebook competition for two courses and prosecco and chose the chateaubriand and the cheesecake for dessert. The food was outstanding, the member of staff that served us (Daniel) was so friendly and professional and nothing was too much trouble. It looks amazing since the refurb and I would definitely return - thank you!
What a great family pub! Excellent Sunday lunch, followed by a delicious brunch the next day. Staff are more than happy to go out of the way for you and for those that complain the staff may be a bit slow i can only imagine it’s because they’re taking their time to get it right for the customer! Relax and enjoy the fantastic decor! All overseen by the wonderful Manager Brendan! We’ll certainly be regular customers.
Went for food this Thursday with my boyfriend. Food was excellent. We decided to stay for the quiz and the quizmaster did an excellent job. Will definitely revisit!
We went on the restaurant's opening night and had a really good night. The meal prices are comparable with other quality pub restaurants in the area - yes you will get cheaper at some but for the service and quality it was very good. Good to see them making a concerted effort to keep the standards up too. I am sure that once they settle in we will have a pub that will be a real asset to the village and surrounding area.
We came in last Sunday for Sunday Sessions, AMAZING! There were 9 of us and I am gluten free. We did not want to order straight away so ordered sides to share as we were enjoying the entertainment. When we did order mains they were amazing! Staff great, atmosphere great, entertainment stunning. Cannot recommend highly enough, we will be defiantly back
Visited for the first time since the refurb on Easter Monday. We had a lovely meal we both ordered the rib eye steaks, they were cooked perfectly and the food came within about 10 mins. The service was great and the place looked fabulous. I do miss some of the old cosy areas and it does feel more like a restaurant now than a pub but overall we couldn't really fault it. We will definately eat there again!
Lovely meal tonight .steak was amazing .service was great .. thanks to brandon and the staff ..top marks to the chef !
Just been for lunch with two friends. Had the 2 for £10 (hummus starter and chilli main) absolutely delicious
Brilliant and great value for money went Sunday for Brunch food was amazing and the pint of shipyard. Will definitely be makeing this a weekend regular fixture
Attended the 1st Comedy Night at the C&B, brilliant. Great food, service and many laughs. So good we booked for the next event in June. Go grab your tickets!!
Absolutely love the food here since its been refurbished and taken over. We love the atmosphere in there too. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, especially Anna, who seems to have been working each time we have been in. My favourite on the menu is definitely the Sticky Toffee pudding. Would certainly recommend the Cock & Bottle to everyone now.
Only a selected menu but the food was fabulous staff very helpful and it was our first time since the refurb love the surroundings
Lovely decor, Jade who served us was lovely and really tried hard on what was her first evening waiting on. Steaks were good - cooked very well. Seemed expensive at full price but were at least 10oz so good value. Drinks very reasonable - prossecco 3.95, large shiraz 5.95. Only downside was the bar was very noisy - the vaulted ceilings really echo and the bar drinkers are very close to some dining tables.
An excellent first night and we will definitely be back.
Visited the cock and bottle today for lunch after hearing/reading excellent reviews
I had the fish and chips and my daughter the fish pie I've got to say the fish pie was beautiful however, I had a very tasteless fish that was over cooked and expensive at £12-50 for what was probably frozen fish - I would have been better staying at home putting a birds eye fish in the oven
I didn't complain just paid the bill and left
Staff waiting on were lovely - very friendly
We have been Twice now 1st time when just opened and again this weekend we had to wait a very long time for the food first time we came and the food was not good starters were cold and my husband’s main course was really bad and then this weekend we had to wait over an hour for our food what wasn’t great when we had a three-year-old with us and then when the food came my chickenburger was so hard I could only just about eat it.
Real shame. Of course the place looks great, the food is relatively good, but both are irrelevant when there is a 15 minute wait for drinks to arrive and a 45 minute wait for food! Food had obviously been left before being served as it wasn’t hot (however mine personally tasted great). Can fully understand a delay on a busy evening, but we were one of only a handful of tables in the restaurant. Could partly accept waiting too if anybody had come over to explain but unfortunately staff were happy stood chatting at the bar. After finishing our food, nobody cleared our plates and therefore we were never offered any desserts etc. After standing at the till whilst 2 other staff members ignored us, we were eventually able to pay. I was asked how it was and after explaining my disappointment, all I was told was “sorry”. Potentially a great place but no management and uninterested staff. Gutted as it’s nice to have a place so smart on my doorstep but won’t bother again.
Looks nice but that comes at a great cost to the customers! £14.50 for
1 pint of fosters
1 pint of ipa
1 fancy milkshake
That's my first & last time in there!
Disappointing night. Yes the food was nice but the service was dreadful. We waited 40 mins fir our main course, two mins more and we were leaving. They seemed to be more attentive to the crowds at the bar., than those having a meal. We won't be back.
Called in for a quick drink to see what it was like for a family meal....took ages to get served and when the lass serving shouted for another bar person she was ignored and only ordered 2 soft drinks (glasses not pints) was charged £5 which is expensive for a coke and a lemonade...it's a shame because we live close but won't become regulars
