Cheskin House Description
A warm welcome and making each guest feel very comfortable and special is the first priority at Cheskin House. In addition to two luxurious bedrooms, there is an elegant lounge, conservatory and dining room to enjoy. Food and wine are two of my passions, and you will find local, seaonal cooking awaits you, and an extensive wine selection.
Following a successful 28 year international career working in 26 countries, I have completed my project to refurbish Cheskin House. A project which encompasses my key passions in life – people, food, wine, gardens, interior design, art and antiques.
Cheskin House is a 270 year old farmhouse located in the Upper Eden. In the last few months this has undergone much refurbishment and has been tastefully furnished.
Cumbria is one of England’s most beautiful counties and a lovely destination for a relaxing break at any time of year. The clean air and dramatic landscapes will refresh, inspire and rejuvenate anyone who visits. Eden is a district of undulating meadows, beautiful villages and historic market towns surrounded by awe inspiring uplands – the North Pennines to the East, the Lakeland mountains to the West and to the South, the Howgill Fells and Mallestang, an isolated corner of old Westmoreland where the majestic River Eden has its source.
Eden’s charm lies in its illusion of remoteness. Although so easily accessible from the M6 motorway, A66 and major rail routes, half a million acres of some of the most breathtaking landscapes in England lie in this little known stretch of Cumbria.

From the moment we arrived to the point we left we were looked after with su...ch attention to detail. Nothing was too much trouble and Edwina was always on hand to ensure we had what we needed.
“The room was fantastic in every way. Beautifully furnished and with the most comfortable K/S bed I have ever slept upon. Bed linen was crisp and gorgeous and we relished in the delight of our surroundings.
“Breakfast is frankly one of life's 'must do's'. Produce locally sourced and of exceptional quality cooked to perfection. The choices of breads, fruits, preserves and yoghurt extended the experience beyond any breakfast I have had anywhere.
“This is a great place to indulge yourself in the experience of Edwin's extraordinarily eclectic home.”

Poached apricots in vanilla syrup, creamed rhubarb and poached figs with orange, cardamom, bay leaf and pistachios added to the breakfast menu this morning.

Tasmanian food uses the freshest of local produce and then is beautifully cooked. Superb dinner at the Bay restaurant, Freycinet Lodge, Coles Bay, Tasmania. Accompanied by lovely Tasmanian wines especially the Josef Chromy sparkling wine and the Sauvignon Blanc.

A wonderful vineyard tour from Launceston, Tasmania. Learning about Tasmanian wines especially the Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Hope to stock some in my wine studio at Cheskin House.
An amazing visit to Cradle Mountain, Tasmania. Dinner in the Highland restaurant. Superb food and wines. Started with a sesame and pear beef tartare. Main course was delicious Tasmanian lamb.
