"I think one of the main problems with brunch is that it is pretty heavy on the bread products. It’s all ‘toasted sourdough by (please insert you preferred artisanal bread-maker here) topped with…’ and it all gets a bit much. If you are avoiding bread for diet or health reasons, it kind of takes the fun out of the whole brunching experience when you must settle for some gruel or something equally as shit. So, when I tried the Fried Egg Tostadas at Common, I was pleasantly surprised and left without the fear that anyone would offer me a seat on the tram home because of my overly-bloated stomach."

This place has improved so much since I last ventured in a few years ago. But I do miss the Jon Burgerman artwork.

Child friendly (although no child menu) and dog friendly. The dog was offered water immediately on both of our visits.

We got the Common burger and chips which were lovely. Nice atmosphere and more spacious than I recall.

Ok - this is a genuine review from a customer who was attending a course across the street at MadLab, on Saturday 20th Jan 2018. At lunchtime I went in to get two Americano coffees to take out, which happened really quickly, but when I left, outside the door, I dropped one of the coffees...I didn't have time to get another one, so just went back to the workshop at Mad Lab. Three minutes later, the bar guy from Commmon who had served me came into our meeting room with a fresh Americano for me...he had seen what happened...You just can't get better than that! Please please thank the guy from me - it made my weekend, and of course the whole room was deeply impressed. Hats off, bar guy, hats off to you!

User

Always a good selection of excellent beer and consistently tasty grub. Changing artwork is great and tunes are usually spot on. Regularly first choice if we're in that part of town.

User

We called for a drink and really like the place there was a good atmosphere and stayed for a few more.the menu looked very good and we will be going back to try the food

Me and my friend went to Common the other day whilst staying over in Manchester. The food was lovely and the staff was friendly. The only thing I'd say was whilst ordering at the bar it was quite a while till I got served. I think it would maybe be a good idea if you changed the way people ordered to table service, I think you're missing a bit of a trick with it being a way to interact more with customers, plus I wanted to leave a tip but you wouldn't generally tip when paying for your meal up front as you don't really know if what your ordering is going to be good.

User

Lovely vegan food and nice relaxed atmosphere!

User

Had common burger it was the most juicy burger and spicy fries. It was delicious and tasty

User

Not enough beans, no black pudding, bacon was way too salty couldn’t finish it. Definitely not best breakfast in the north sorry!

User

5 of us ordered breakfast and none of us were really fussed. You know it isn't good when we all said we would have rather gone to a spoons. The coffee was the worst coffee I have ever had in my life, it was like mud.

User

Terrible, terrible service. I can pardon the slow service as it was 11am (although why it takes 15 minutes for a coffee I’m not sure) on a Sunday morning but the whole vibe is awful. At first glance you’d think it was full of generally welcoming people but nope, the staff looked at my friend like they were a bad smell just because we didn’t ‘fit in’ to what I can only assume is their target customer demographic.

A 2nd star is added on because I did notice they were dog-friendly and also because I laughed so hard my coffee actually came out my nose when a young customer demanded her tea be taken back and returned in a teapot. Good, yet fleeting, entertainment.

User

Non existent service and little choice on menu compared to some independent greasy spoons.

I'm sure there are friendly cafes in Manchester. This isn't one of them.

User

Loved the look and feel of the place so thought would try it...sadly I will not been returning...there was no real queue for food at the bar..my friend ordered hers first while I saved seats and came back to say 30min wait but she had ordered...I then went to place my order like 2 mins later to be told there was an hour wait! I explained my friend had already ordered and was told 30mins...I obviously had no choice and hoped for the best.....the coffee was the smallest cup I have ever been served a cappuccino in! We got our food ages apart...by time food came had drank our coffee.....I had the falafel burger which was very dry ...served up quite plainly on a plate with fries...presentation clearly rushed....coffee was also very strong and bitter...it took 1.5 hrs out of our day just to have lunch...such a shame....way to busy to deal with the orders...need to make it clear when entering what the situation with food ordering is....I didn't even get a cake...they looked good too!

User

Is it a restaurant or a fast food joint? No table service so you walk in, sit down, and eventually work out you order at bar. Staff at bar are busy so you wait while they do coffees etc. Then extremely slow to deliver burgers etc. Yes you can get cheap deals with registering on website, but zero points for atmosphere.

User

I ordered a vegan burger and chips. Granted, I was given a free coffee as it was a mistake, but the burger...I really didn't want to complain as I have anxiety about things like that, what with having 15 years experience in hospitality, but it was genuinely not very nice at all. It was as if it was just deep fried, it crumbled to the point I had to try and eat it with a fork. It was so greasy, pockets of grease would pop in my mouth. It was really unappealing but I was hungry and had just spent practically a tenner on a burger and chips. Whatever was in the burger (I think it was beans) was obviously fried, or baked more than once as there were edges to the burger that I nearly chipped a tooth on! I was so disappointed. I just want you to know that it really wasn't a good burger and if it could be reviewed I'm sure it would be an amazing burger! My dog enjoyed sunbathing though.

User

Had the ribs was a plate of bones and Grissel

Was 15 mins early for lunch menu , barman was really inflexible but got lunch menu in the end after a lot of pursesion but was made to feel bad

Location is great especially on a sunny day

I'd go back but only for a beer , there's better places to eat in this area

User

Service so slow asked were my breakfast was after 25 mins the girl never came back to advise me . If you’re it a hurry give it a miss . And rude staff

User

Regarding Vegan food!

It’s extremely over hyped bog standard, corner cut, cheap (as in not the good cheap), kebab shop, Vegan food, it’s on a par with V-Rev, how terrible the burgers are.......

Is there any decent Vegan food in Manchester??

User

I have been visiting Common literary since opening. I have seen the place packed to the rafters with service if not a little slow always OK.

Today visited with my daughter and partner. The place was busy and buzzing so we decided to wait for a table to come free (another two parties had the same idea)

We found a table (party behind tried to jump queue as no member of staff coordinating) and placed order at the bar. Noticed people who sat after us receiving their food. When our food (2 vegan breakfast and burger and chips) had not arrived after fifty minute, asked at the bar if they had forgotten our order. Was told rather abruptly yours is next coming out if the kitchen. It was very obvious when looking in the open kitchen the order had not been started.

Eventually after an hour the almost cold poorly presented food was delivered. The waiter kindly offered a free drink. No one came to check if food was ok (would have thought this was quite important, due to wait) we tried to grab someone’s attention to no avail.

Due to the whole experience etc just leave and let you know about the very disappointing in every aspect our sub standard lunch.

Top 50 breakfasts doubt it anymore.

In a nutshell crap food rubbish service and no leadership or coordination of operations.

Kindly let me have your thoughts

Burned food that took too long to arrive
