Cosmos Science Centre Description
Cosmos Mobile Science & Technology Centre - tackling poverty through science education for social and economic development
The Cosmos Mobile Science & Technology Centre is a mobile facility which aims to tackle poverty in the worlds most deprived communities. Our aim is to bring the centre directly to children and communities who have little or no access to schooling to enable them to receive an education and acquire key skills to benefit their lives, be it to gain basic skills to enter employment, learn how to use a computer or gain support to start their own enterprise.
Cosmos Mobile Science & Technology Centre is run by volunteers and managed through iUniverse Education, a not-for-proft NGO based in the UK specialising in lifelong education and training. At iUniverse we believe that by making education open to all breaks the the link between poverty and access to education which is vital to tackling the many challenges that our society faces today.

Astronomers Spot Eye of Sauron
Have we stepped into the mythical world of Middle Earth? A new advanced imaging tool has captured a deep-space shot that looks uncannily similar to the Eye of Sauron from The Lord of the Rings. But have no fear, the all-seeing eye is just the star HR 4796A, and its fiery ring is merely dust and debris. About 270 light-years away from Earth, the star is one of the first images captured by SPHERE, or the Spectro-Polarimetric High-contrast Exoplanet REsearch instrument, in Chile.
