If we can't grow it ourselves, we buy food from the coop due to their fab ethics and fair treatment of the famers who they buy from - which makes it extra special for us to be chosen as the receiver of the Coop local community fund! For the next 12 months whenever you buy from Haslingden Co-op Food 1% of your spend will go towards supporting our farm charity which aims to give more local people (particularly disadvantaged young people) access to the countryside to learn about food and farming, encouraging the next generation of potential future farmers to care for the countryside that grows our food and the wildlife that lives here. Organic, outdoor reared, grass fed Hebridean lamb, Cheviot lamb and Goat meat all reared by us on our farm will be available to buy from us in 2 weeks. Today was to be our last session of the summer but mother nature has sent us a hay making weather window and we have to use it so won't be able to host you all this morning as we will be out in the fields! No charge for babes in arms. 10am - 11.30am with a chance to play in the farmyard with friends and eat snacks you've brought after you've done the farm Jobs вШЇпЄП Feed the hens, collect the eggs, feed the goats and meet the sheep and our friendly sheepdogs too! This week we wave goodbye to the last of our farm school students and teachers until the new term in September. What a lot our students have learned over the last year! From the number of different species of Ladybird in the uk to how to trim goats hooves to caring for plants, wildlife and farm animals. Our students have explored career options within the agricultural sector and experienced the physical and mental well being benefits of regular time spent in the great outdoor...s. It is a privilege to host such a variety of young people from all walks of life here on the farm. From children's homes, secure units, public and private schools and private groups. Lewis Hazelwood-Horner, one of the youngest members of the Royal Society of British Artists whose work has been exhibited in several renowned institutions (including having his work displayed along side Picasso and Kandinsky's work in Florence, Italy) has been staying in our Shepherds Hut for a few days.
