About Cvets Veterinary

We focus on care, not because it's our job, but because it's our passion, with a comprehensive range of small animal services. Our Bebington branch is on 46 Town Lane, open Mon to Fri, 9: 00am-6: 30pm.

Cvets Veterinary Description

Care is what we do. It's our profession, but it's also our passion - for animals and their welfare, and for the happiness of our clients too.

It's something we're proud, and we were delighted to see that some words are regularly used in our reviews: thoughtful, friendly, supportive, sensitive. Caring.

We offer a comprehensive list of small animal services, including vaccinations, neutering, microchipping, parasite control, behaviour consultations and exotics, and have on-site digital x-ray, ultrasound and an in-house lab.

Our Bebington branch is open Monday to Friday for consultations, operations and nursing clinics. Get in touch to find out more!

Ticks
Having trouble with ticks? Ticks are blood-sucking parasites that live in long grass and overgrowth. They attach to passing mammals, feed for a few days, then drop off to ‘moult’ into a bigger parasite. They can carry diseases such as Lyme disease and babesiosis in their saliva. To prevent the transfer of these diseases to our pets (or us!) we need to ensure pets are treated with appropriate parasite control. Have a chat to our team if you’re worried about ticks and we can recommend preventative treatments.

BBQ Safety
Are you thinking of holding the first barbeque of the year? Don’t forget to keep your pets safe. Make sure there’s no way for them to knock over the barbeque or get hot coals dropped on them, and don’t allow them to eat any leftovers, even from the bin! All too often we see corn on the cob getting stuck in dog’s digestive systems, not to mention the damage a kebab stick can inflict! Have a safe and happy barbeque season, and if your pet does sniff out something they shouldn’t, please call us!

Have you heard of Xylitol?
Xylitol is an increasingly popular sugar substitute. It can be found in many sugar free foods such as chewing gum, peanut butter, sweets and puddings. It can also be found in household items such as toothpaste and mouthwash. Xylitol is fine for people but even small doses can be fatal for dogs.
If your pet has consumed xylitol you should called your vets ASAP

As it's nearly the end of this year, I wanted to tell you about one of my favourite patients from 2018! Nala is the most adorable little dog you could meet. She had an accident a few months ago and suffered a fracture of the humeral condyle ( a fractured elbow). I performed a long operation to repair this with a screw and two metal wires. Nala was such a good patient throughout and never once resented her visits to the practice. We are all very happy to say Nala has made a full recovery and is enjoying life as she knows best and is looking forward to her first Christmas. Nick Whieldon.

A shocking figure: 12.7 million tonnes of plastic is ending up in the sea every year, entangling and choking sea turtles, birds and even killing whales by blocking their digestive tracts. We all need to play our part, so we will no longer hand out plastic carrier bags. We will try to keep our old cardboard boxes for any clients who need one, but please remember your reusable carrier bags!
