The country’s biggest celebration of gardening has started😁😍 Monday 29 April - Sunday 5 May 2019
National Gardening Week is the nation's biggest celebration of gardening and raises awareness of the difference that gardens and gardening can make to the lives of everyone in the UK. It inspires more people, particularly the next generation of gardeners, to experience the joy of growing and visiting beautiful green spaces.
... What's happening this year? We're calling on gardeners up and down the country to share their love of home-grown produce with this year's RHS theme – Edible Britain.
Edible Britain helps to highlight that everyone has space to grow something delicious to eat, whether it’s a single pot of herbs on the windowsill or an allotment overflowing with courgettes and potatoes.

Wonderful evening at Daleside. Beautiful displays. Well done to all the staff who have worked so hard to get it looking so lovely. Started my xmas shopping and going back for more soon. Lovely to see Potty Pete and Potty Pauline they have been very busy too.

User

We visited Father Christmas today after booking in a slot at 11am. Very impressed, the grotto was well decorated and a good size (enough to accommodate 3 adults, 2 children and 2 prams). Father Christmas was absolutely lovely and took his time with the children. The children then got to pick a present from a host of toys. Well done Daleside

User

We enjoy our visits to daleside, it’s a lovely place and great restaurant there with good selection of meals, the lady waiting the tables was lovely and friendly but the one serving, late 50s very blonde, was the most miserable rude person I’ve had the pleasure of being served by in a long time must hate her job, never cracked a smile, definitely in the wrong job!!!

User

We decided to give Santa a second chance and are so glad that we did. I returned following an incredibly disappointing visit at the end of November and the experience was fantastic this time around. We definitely had value for money and I left with smiles all around. The face painter was great, Santa brilliant and did his upmost to interact with both my children, explaining to my daughter his reindeer were finishing his Christmas shopping for him and even sang a song to our baby boy. The suit and beard were 10000 times better than previous visit as was Santa himself. My 3 year old now believes she has met the real Santa and is really looking forward to him bringing her presents.

Thank you for listening to customer feedback and making improvements straight away, we will definitely be back next year!

User

We called in today for lunch and to see Father Christmas and we were not disappointed. The staff in the cafe were lovely and made a real fuss of our boys. Food was tasty too. We made our way to see Father Christmas and my 5 year old was mesmerised and very excited to see him. Father Christmas was brilliant and chatted away with our eldest and also made a fuss of our 6 month old. We didn't feel rushed like is often the case at other places and although there seemed to be a lot of people wanting to see the main man we didn't have to queue....another bonus as the queues can be very stressful!! Ok it's not big and showy but it was perfect for our boys, with a decent gift which I'm sure will be played with over and over again. Thank you Daleside, we will be recommending you

We've also booked for breakfast with Father Christmas and we're really looking forward to that now :-)

User

Took my little boy to go see Father Christmas today, I didn’t realise we had to book but a kind woman on the till let us in! My lb absolutely loved it thank you so much! highly recommend and will be back next year!

User

Stopped off here to have some lunch and look around . Fantastic place. Food was amazing and cakes were out of this world ! Very nice x definitely be returning.

User

Lovely food, staff are very cheerful and happy to help, there are some beautiful products here, you can have a nice walk around looking at everything, and then go and have a nice meal or snack and relax,,

User

Just been to visit Father Christmas at Daleside garden centre. The children had a lovely time we weren’t rushed and got to take as many photos as we liked. No crying from My youngest this time Father Christmas even got a high five. They even got to choose there own gift.

User

We visited today with our 8 month old and my 6 year old niece to visit father Christmas. It was good and he was lovely took the time to talk to my niece even surprised her by telling her to keep her bedroom tidy her face was awesome and tried to get my daughter to like him (her first visit to see father Christmas ever). The gifts selection (included in the ticket price) was also great lots of choice. However the only down side is it's in the outdoor area (undercover) but that means we froze and it could have been better decorated out there for the wait. All in all we weren't disappointed.

User

Very good garden centre, excellent food, not quite as good as the Holland Arms Garden Centre Pentre Berw Anglesey which is definitely 5 stars great food and really helpful staff

User

I was treated to afternoon tea today for my birthday. I do love going to different places to try them out. Sadly I won't return as this afternoon tea didn't make the grade. Firstly, it came on square slates and although I found this 'different' I was willing to try. Food wise it was acceptable apart from the scones which were dry and tasteless. We asked for more tea, the pots were taken away and came back. All we got was water poured on to the already used tea bags. As we sat chatting we noticed a member of staff clearing away dishes and what did we see?? A 3 tier stand that is traditionally used for afternoon!! Why did we get slates? Very disappointed and won't be recommending your afternoon tea!

User

Disappointed with the "Full English Breakfast" served at the restaurant.

Service was speedy and waitresses were pleasant.

However the breakfast was of a very small size ( 1 small sausage, 1 piece overdone bacon, small pot of beans, 1 mushroom, half fried tomato, 1 fried egg, thin slice black pudding, 1 piece of toast )

Best part was the toast and that it came with a pot of tea!

For £6 something you'd expect more of everything to be honest.

Was grumpily served at 11:20am with a sigh and a complaint of "we stop breakfast at 11:30" (it wasn't yet 11:30 so unsure as to the problem...)

Won't be returning for breakfast!

User

3 disappointed children this morning. Booked for breakfast with Santa! I asked last week when I was in having coffee what time it started and was told 10.30. We arrived this morning at 10.20 and things were in full swing.. no where for the kids to sit together breakfast stone cold and no story from santa.. it was all over with by 10.50.. the young Waitress that apologized was really lovely but as for the rest of it a waste of £30 for what should have been a magical morning.

User

Went here yesterday with my husband and two sons and we left hungry. The pork was like leather, the mash potato was like wall paper paste and my sons sausages were burnt and inedible. I had fish cakes with salad which was covered with an over powering mustard dressing which burnt my mouth.

The whole meal cost £36 pounds!!! Will not be going back unfortunately.

User

Well yesterday was my second visit to the topiary restaurant this week, first ime had haddock goujons we had asked for fish and chips not told it was goujons ok my fault for not reading menu, but they were not very nice very watery.

Decided as it is usually very nice to go again yesterday ordered xmas wrap not very nice tortilla hard was very disappointed.

User

It saddens me to give this place this review. After visiting last year and seeing the set up for visiting Father Christmas but with very little children the 2 hour wait just wasn't an option but for this year it was our first choice. I can't tell you how disappointed I was. £24 for my 4 children, we had to queue outside in the freezing cold to see a less than convincing Father Christmas and an elf with a bit of an attitude. There was no magical build up, the kids where frozen after an almost an hour wait. Then to top it up I had to explain to the children why they picked a present from Father Christmas off a shelf, no wrapping and not even given to them by the main man. The experience has really put me off coming to the garden centre again and certainly wouldn't visit the 'grotto' (shed outside with a bit of tinsel on it) again any time soon.

User

I went to the garden centre to have lunch while doing some work I live locally and will NEVER go back again! But despite the dirty dishes and other customers complaining about the slow service one lady said it was a daily occurrence, I decided not to judge too harshly and ordered a jacket potato with beans. As Im allergic, I specifically asked for NO cheese. It came and I was busy eating when buried in the bottom I discovered strands of long creamy white cheese! I took it back and when the manager came to give me a refund she STARTED TELLING ME OFF! She told me I was wrong, it wasnt cheese. When I asked what else could be long, creamy coloured, could be picked up and hold its shape? She told me it was butter. Butter melts at very low temperatures and couldnt have been picked up and remained in a solid strip. Plus butter isnt grated, the pieces in my food were clearly grated.

When I said butter didnt behave in that way, I was told I wasnt listening to her! Shed made it herself and she hadnt touched any cheese all morning. A blatant lie- there were lots of beans and cheese jackets on other tables.

Well, to cut a long story short. I was shouted at, humiliated in front of other customers, argued with, made to feel small and told I was wrong, basically a lair. I was shaking when I got out of there. And to make matters worse, my stomach wasnt wrong...I have been very ill since eating there. Explain why that is? Hmmm, might be the cheese, dya think??? I will NEVER go there again and highly recommend you dont either. Not unless youre prepared to have an argument with the manager to get your money back for a mistake they made. Oh, yes, and to be ill afterwards. Possibly the worst place and worst staff in the whole of Deeside.

Your manager is endangering life with that attitude, what if I had been severely allergic and been hospitalised? Think yourselves lucky I dont take you to court. Dont bother contacting me unless youve dismissed your manager. Thank you.

User

I wanted a sausage butty. But it wasn't breakfast anymore so I spent the best part of £7 buying the brunch baguette which I asked for the bacon to be well done..... it came out with more fat than edible bacon and some fancy a$$ salad on the side on a cheap black plate and was the biggest disappointment ever. Disgusting how they charge so much for budget food. Sausages taste crap too!
