Yesterday one of our members, Commonwealth and European Champion boxer Peter McGrail popped into Club for a workout and brought his gold medals in to show us - Peter trains at our Club and has an incredible future ahead of him! We cannot wait to see what he achieves in his career!

Great to see one of our members and Great British Athlete Tom Bosworth GB Race Walker in Club today - he even brought his Commonwealth Games silver medal in for the Team to see. We joined as a family of 3 about 3 weeks ago. So far we love it. The kids club is brilliant for our 5 year old plus she is also getting tennis lessons on a Monday. We have been to many gyms and although it's a lot more expensive, it's certainly the best. It's family ordinated and a very social place, people are friendly, staff are lovely and very helpful. We love that we get towels and a discount on food and drinks in our membership. I think you just need to be aware of your dates for cancelling your membership should you need too, for us I don't think anywhere else will quite compare, as I love using gym, courts, classes and outdoor pool is amazing

Thank you for a fantastic birthday party this afternoon for our son Thomas. The girls who looked after the children and ran the activities were brilliant and kept all the children happy and engaged. Me and my family joined the club 2 months ago and we all love it we have settled in really well all the facilities are great and all the staff are amazing they have made me and my family welcome and gone the extra mile with the children especially I couldn't fault any of it. I have found nothing but helpful friendly staff and a club of the highest standards and I thank club for making me feel comfortable getting back to training ÔŅĹ

I have toyed with the idea of joining David Lloyd for a while so am in the middle of a 14 day trial and following that I will become a member. The equipment it top notch, changing rooms/showers clean and comfortable , staff friendly and helpful and it’s opening times really fit with my life. Im yet to try the pool area but it also looks fantastic. x

Following a major refurbishment this superb centre built on Liverpool's old airport site, with gym, pools (indoor and outdoor), racquet centre and beauty salon, is drawing in lots of new members. Good cafe with healthy meals. Easy parking. It's next door to the Crowne Plaza Hotel Speke and to Damons Restaurant, and just across Speke Boulevard from the major shopping park (which will soon be getting a cinema). And dead handy for the Airport. Staff are really good, special mention for Emma in the cafe who works tirelessly to keep the members fuelled and smiling.

Have been a member for 15 month and because had a baby didn't really have time to go anymore so decided to cancel my membership. Called up and the lady told me that I need to give 3 month notice , so asked a copy of my contract . No matter what gave her 3 month notice on the phone . Called back 3 month later and they told me that I needed to give written notice so need to give that notice again ? So basically had to pay 6 month extra for nothing . Very unprofessional and not helpful staff .If the member of staff made a mistake the customer shouldn't pay for it or at least should apologize for not letting me know about the written notice .This is not the first time I choose david Lloyd but unfortunately the last , won't recommend to my friends either

Extremely frustrating club. My honest review. Like the facilities and would really like it to be better. Pool has been closed so often. Limit on lifeguards so couldn’t use outdoor pool as only one lifeguard and he was inside. Really poor catering. Having finally complained about burnt cheese on toast being served up with raw veg that was limp and dried out, was told we’d receive a voucher. Never materialised. Swimming teacher never turned up for kids lesson, no notice she’d left and no refund. Swimming coordinator changed three times in 12 months, no continuity. Poor procedures cancelling classes, accepted cancellation one way for swimming but apparently not right for tennis so charged me a further two months. Poor response times, a week to get back to an email. The cafe/restaurant generally understaffed. Just too frustrating to put up with. Like the sports coaches and class staff but the management and administration is poor and not customer focussed in the slightest. Should really be 1* but trying to be fair! I certainly wouldn’t recommend it.

But....can David Lloyd explain why there are so many lights outside and inside the pool which !!make it so bright for 6.30am swimming and evenings also! And why they are never switched on? !! And constantly being told. It is too dark to swim! Why are we paying for an outdoor pool and constantly being told. ‚ÄėWe can‚Äôt see the bottom of the pool‚Äô so we cannot open it! Switch the lights on and have adequate staff from opening to closing times.! Reception staff have a lot to put up when outdoor pool is advertised as open....but you have to put the lights on with these dark mornings!!!!! Please stop quoting Health and Safety! Put the lights on that‚Äôs why they are there!

Yet another price increase...now £95 for one adult and one child! About 30 emails later of 'the pool is not open due to a fault', 'temperature is not right', 'boiler has to be fixed', 'no towels' , I have cancelled my membership! The service has not been the best and cannot believe the amount of problems there has been for a PREMIUM RATE gym! Not only that, they attempted to charge me £10 when I lost mine and my son's card, fortunately, I complained and didn't pay and the process to replace took under 30 seconds so money for nothing really! oh well the £95 will certainly be better in my pocket!

Very disappointing response from DL having served notice of cancellation. Only used the club for 3 months but charged for the full 12 months (ok) but sent cancellation notice in writing as advised in Feb only for them to tell me they haven't received it and want to continue to charge me for another month or two because they didn't write back to advise they'd received notice! Disgusted not only with their response but during the membership time I lost count of the number of times facilities couldn't be used because they were having maintenance work done. Cost per visit was roughly £160 because of membership tie in!!!!! Has this happened to anyone else?

Very disappointed in the brasserie management, group interviews that went well before it was done up and promised contact to know either way and nothing at all... if your not going to let people know the outcome then say so! don't lie and waste people's time by saying you will definitely hear something either way. Can only think Lucky escape at the end of the day. Shame really. One of the better clubs in the area but wouldn't give them my money now. Takes a minute to send an email.

Just joined when I did it was on offer that I didn't have to pay joining fee if joined that night. So I said yes. When went in to get membership card I asked about welcome pack Got told that no didn't get it as didn't pay joining fee. Not told anything about. This is the second time the same sales ladies has not told me full facts. Don't know any point ringing head office as last time just said sorry but did nothing about it

I actually love this gym, but the one star is for the fact they want to charge me £20 (i'm sure it's actually £15?) a day WITH a guest member. I can't get a membership because I'm in the Army and I'm only home a few weeks out of the year. Most gym's offer a military package, freezing memberships for example when people are deployed. I can't justify paying £20 a day while I'm home, you should really look into accommodating forces personnel like many other gyms.

Disgraceful how they unfairly treat customers with contracts. Be VERY careful to read your terms & conditions before you join this gym. If you don't cancel in time in the last month of your initial contract then they then sign you up to a further 3 months which you can't get out of. This is considered 'unfair' practice by the government's Office of Fair Trading which states : “8.1 A clause which states how long a contract has to run is likely to be among its most important 'core' terms. If a lesser term in small print can be used, relying on customer inertia, to extend the contract period beyond what the consumer would normally expect, it is not a core term, and is liable to be considered unfair.". It's also interesting how the membership team are SO friendly when signing you up but then as soon as there's a contract issue they're rude and unhelpful and simply keeping stating "it's in your terms and conditions". The point is that it doesn't matter if it's in your T&Cs if the OFT considers your practices UNFAIR. The Speke club were shockingly bad with us and in the end we complained to head office and were released from contract.

After paying £145 per month for years, I am Absolutely disgusted with David Lloyd Speke for the way I have been disregarded! The renovation has destroyed the gym for me and took away everything I joined for! After explaining I couldn't use the make shift gym on the tennis courts for 6 weeks and I couldn't use the new gym seems as they put my loved floor area in the middle of the gym, with all the equipment facing it, so when you work out everyone is starring at you like you're on stage, as there is no where else to look! Along with many other things.. (I'll be here forever) I have been made to give 5 months cancellation! They don't care what I have to say or how I feel! They ignored my emails and contact for 3 months! They are money orientated only and that is all! Since looking at new gyms in the area, I have found much cheaper gyms have better equipment also and treat their member with a lot more respect!
