Hello IŌĆÖm Steve and IŌĆÖm a Pt at David lloyd Chorley and I would like to talk to you about anxiety , stress and depression and how exercise in any form can help in all of these situations . Having suffered myself from it for many years which started from the loss of my mother. IŌĆÖve always been into fitness and being in shape even at my lowest where I didnŌĆÖt want to leave the house or go out ,I always felt safe in the gym environment so much so I made a lot of friends and made ...my career out of it now. IŌĆÖm always in the club if anyone has gone through situations like I have and would just like to talk give me a shout , I drink flat whites with a straw ¤śē¤śé. Here are other benefits what going to the gym will do for you . Mental health benefits Reduced anxiety and happier moods. When you exercise, your brain chemistry changes through the release of endorphins (sometimes called ŌĆśfeel goodŌĆÖ hormones), which can calm anxiety and lift your mood. Reduced feelings of stress. You may experience reductions in feelings of stress and tension as your body is better able to control cortisol levels. Clearer thinking. Some people find that exercise helps to break up racing thoughts. As your body tires so does your mind, leaving you calmer and better able to think clearly. A greater sense of calm. Simply taking time out to exercise can give you space to think things over and help your mind feel calmer. Increased self-esteem. When you start to see your fitness levels increase and your body improve, it can give your self-esteem a big boost. The sense of achievement you get from learning new skills and achieving your goals can also help you feel better about yourself and lift your mood. Improved self-esteem also has a protective effect that increases life satisfaction and can make you more resilient to feeling stressed. Reduced risk of depression. If you're more active thereŌĆÖs good evidence to suggest that at most ages, for both men and women, there's a trend towards lower rates of depression. In fact one study has found that by increasing your activity levels from doing nothing to exercising at least three times a week, you can reduce your risk of depression by almost 20%.

Ōśü Lying Rows Ōśü ŌĆó Ōśü One of my favourite horizontal pulling movements is the lying row Ōܽ ŌĆó Ōśü Pound for pound nothing really beats the seal row in terms of specific upper back isolation and strength development, however not all gyms have the required equipment and even if they do it can be abit of a faff to set up Ōܽ... ŌĆó Ōśü Therefore I like to use the lying row as an alternative, as we get similar isolation of the upper back and minimise momentum that can generated through the legs on movements such as bent over rows Ōܽ ŌĆó Ōśü The exercise has a great carry over for both performance and hypertrophy elements, for both individuals who require large amounts of upper back pulling power/endurance but also physique based individuals can really benefit from the isolation and save there lower backs performing bent over horizontal row variationsŌܽ

We have been members here for a while and we all love it. We especially enjoy the family synergy sessions which seem to be unique to this club and a great idea. The Monday sessions are definitely the best, Steve, the instructor, is a hard taskmaster but makes the sessions fun for both the adults and the kids.

User

It is a fantastic place. Very well equipped for families and adults only. Staff friendly and very helpful

I recently returned to the gym after injury and surgery. Building myself up by doing yoga and bodybalance. After explaining my surgery and recovery the instructors, especially Dan adapted some moves in the class for me and after class showed me a couple of strengthening moves to do at home very impressed. Loving it!!

I canŌĆÖt recommend Ben Carlise more highly as a personal trainer. He has been our daughters personal trainer for the past 10 weeks to help her through a stressful period of exams. During this time Ben has been professional, friendly, extremely hard working. He worked her socks off but at the same time she had a blast. A credit to David Lloyd. Thank you Ben

Can I do a big shout out to Jill, Ben, and Eliseo for going all out to help find my lost phone today - but especially to Lauren on Reception who went above and beyond and tracked it down, using Find-my-iPhone, from a place I don't think it would ever have been found (at least until it rained again!). *Thank you all!* At this particular time, it was really important to find it. As always, there's service and then there's DLChorley service.

I've been a member at DLChorley since it first opened and have always found all the staff to be incredibly committed, professional and really friendly, over all those years. I love the new fit-out and have been really impressed how it was undertaken with so little disruption.

User

As a longstanding member of this club I've been quite impressed with how the refurb has progressed. It's been handled really well in my opinion and disruptions have been kept the the necessary minimum. Those people who are complaining about the building work are likely the same people complaining before the work about the need for a refurb... You can't have it both ways. Well done to all DL staff.

User

It's good, but could be far better if they sorted lots of minor, yet important, issues out. For instance, the audio links on the Life fitness bikes facing the TVs are a joke! They hardly ever work - meaning you cant watch TV with sound! Also, quite often they show the same programme on 2 TVs at once. Currently there is a really bad picture on one of the screens - but nobody seems to care enough to get it sorted. The flooring in the gents changing rooms near the shower area entrance is also dangerous currently. The cleaning staff there are excellent though. The gym staff, whilst pleasant, seem to lack the personality needed to connect with members. Its all very flat in there. Loads of room for improvement. All these issues are management driven ones.

When things are working and running properly I honestly couldn't fault David Lloyd Chorley. However when a mistake happens or something doesn't work as it's supposed to then that's where things start to fall down. Shortly after I joined the club I referred two people to the club under the refer a friend scheme which promised a ┬Ż25 amazon voucher per referral. I received one voucher for one of the referrals but not the other.

After several attempts to chase this and find out whats going on. I just got told each time that this promotion is ran be a third party and someone will have to get back to me. I made 6 attempts to chase this up and only once someone got back to me (and they got back to me to tel me that someone will get back to me!)

I have now simply given up. At the end of the day it's only ┬Ż25 however the experience itself it really disappointing and has left of a bad taste. I can't fault the gym and it's facilities but when you make a promise it should be kept or at least I would expect someone to take ownership of the issue and resolve it.

This wasn't done and as result I won't be referring a friend again and when it comes to renewing my membership i'll be looking at alternative gyms.

This club used to be one of the best DL around, recent cheap introduction offers and allowing none members to use certain facilities has meant major issues with Parking, gym being too busy and it looking more like a childrenŌĆÖs play ground (it is ok you can park on Premier Inn and walk up the road in the snow) I have been a DL member for 8 years and now wondering why I pay extra? You will

Lose your core membership if you continue to pack the club with as many people you can on short term deals!!
