Myself and partner had a rare night out so we decided to have a meal at De Trafford. I can honestly say that the food was fabulous and the staff were really helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back

User

My husband and I, along with our eldest daughter and my mum came for and meal, Friday 27th April for my birthday, and it was brilliant, the food the service everything will come again , very good value

User

Much better atmosphere since being taken over with new management. Bar staff all friendly and attentive. Food was absolutely amazing. Will be back for sure

User

Love this pub, friendly staff, great food and beer, in a proper atmosphere and to boot, Sky Sports!!!! What’s not to like?

User

Had a lovely stay here last night, staff were all lovely especially the two ladies on reception who did everything to help us, despite a large group of guests who insisted on keeping everyone awake with noise at 4am and setting off smoke alarms. Breakfast was delicious, the young girls serving was very polite and chatty. Our room was clean with ample tea, coffee etc. All in all a lovely stay in Alderley Edge we will be back for sure.

User

Great food and friendly atmosphere. We have been coming here every Christmas Eve for 4 years for a family meal.

User

Following the recent renovation the De Trafford has struck an excellent balance of modernity & historic character. Like the decor and ambience. Food menu is extensive and top quality. Staff are great - friendly and efficient without a hipster style sleeve tattoo in sight!

User

Fantastic friendly team . Food was fabulous. Room very cosy and comfortable.

User

Currently enjoying a fabulous festive lunch, great place and excellent service...

User

Pleasant stay clean room and bedding, staff really friendly from the reception to the bar staff ... Although the bathroom was extremely cold ..I can understand as it's a really old building and single glazing In there..never the less didn't put us off just pumped up the heating in the bedroom instead and closed the door ..would stay again ..breakfast was nice too.

User

Excellent food at very reasonable prices for the area. Had the fish platter which was excellent and the gamon steak which was lovely but should have come with my favourite, triple cooked chips......come on guys you're doing a good job but.....frozen chips!!!! just doesn't cut the mustard....give what you promise or you'll disappoint a lot of people.

User

A great pub with no pretentious staff and well looked after pumps producing the best Stella I have had for a long time. Its comfortable and welcoming with a nice ambience.

Whilst the first choices for chosen starter and main were not available, our meal tonight was really delicious. Waiter was friendly and accomodating. Thankfully I had eaten most of it before seeing the tall, skinny lad wearing all black and a cap showing his private parts and gesticulating outside the window. He then entered the restaurant so unsure if he was a member of staff or a guest.

We have recently stayed at this hotel and it has been appalling. We came to celebrate my sisters 21st birthday and have stayed here previously. However this time has been absolutely shocking. We came and checked in and began our celebrations with 11 girls in 5 rooms. My sister had called twice to check that the room we had booked included breakfast and also upon arrival we were told we had breakfast included in the price. One room had three girls in and this had been arranged previously with a member of staff via the phone. We began our celebrations and had a fantastic day out. The next morning we came down to check out after breakfast and we were greeted with a cold hello and accusations began to fly. The lady behind the desk was extremely rude and began by telling us we would have to pay for breakfast (which I would not pay Β£8 for). We tried to dispute this after being told it was included in the price three times, however she told us we would have to call the manager later to discuss this. Disgusting. Next she accused us all of running around at 4am knocking on people's doors which had caused complaints. Every lady we were with had gone to bed before 2. We were very offended and asked them to view cctv before making accusations. Next we were accused of smoking in the room and throwing fag ends out the window. Again this never happened because the ladies who smoked went outside. A fire alarm had gone off in the afternoon and we asked if it was a vape one lady had accidentally used . The staff member said it was not our room however we apologised anyway and said it would not happen again. Lastly we were told three people should not have stayed in a bedroom and it was illegal. Well we'd had enough by this point and had gotten so angry with the attitude of this woman behind the desk. She threatened to call security and began to cry. All in all shocking service and I feel that staff need to be trained better in communication skills. I won't be returning that's for sure and if your staying good luck and don't have the breakfast. P.S the rooms arnt too clean either.

The worst meal I have ever had. Party of 11 for a 40th birthday eating on Sunday at 6pm. Started badly when the waitress informed us that there was "no turkey, no lasagne, no salad, and only sirloin steak". Ordered the butchers block starer to share with my daughter and trio of chicken which the waitress informed us "you will only get a duo as we have no turkey...?"

Butchers block arrived consisting of two small skewers of chorizo + meat of some description + peppers alongside a sausage and pate and bread. The chorizo was so overcooked you could snap it in half, the sausage must have been cooked hours before as the skin was like leather and I could not determine if it was pork, beef, chicken or venison as all taste had been lost. The pate was a square of generic supermarket home brand that you could see had just come out of a plastic wrapper and was not gastropub fayre.

The trio of chicken arrived... Again dry and overcooked. Two chicken breasts both hard and moisturless. A small puff pastry chicken pie with a filling that had dried up. Mashed potatoes so stodgy that I could stick my knife in and it remained upright like the sword in the stone. The whole thing was inedible. Our friends meals were of a similar poor standard... A childs burger so black and hard the 4 year old said "I can't eat this it hurts my mouth". My wife had sea bass and scallops.. burnt rubbery sallops sat on tasteless risotto rice and sea bass so dry it broke away from the skin in fibers rather than flakes like fish that had freezer burn. My daughter's grilled halumi, hard and burnt. My sister's medium rare sirloin was pink but still dry??? Even the garden peas were dry. My only conclusion is the food is cooked hours in advance and sits under heat lamps until served much like food in a motorway service station. Not one of our party enjoyed the food and the only redeeming feature was the manager did not charge us for any of the main meals. There are many great gastropubs in the area, this is not one of them. It is a chain pub serving badly cooked frozen meals..

Avoid!
