Great News and Further Roll Back of the Hostile Environment
Police Chiefs lead the way in ending a practice that meant that Migrants would rather suffer in silence than report abuse and assaults and much worse. The fear was that they would be reported to the Home Office.
It is only right that for the sake of a Just Society Police are seen as protectors and servants of the Public rather than the enforcement Arm of the Home Office.
... There are instances where Women have suffered horrendous abuse and even rape but would not report this for fear of being deported. We have seen cases of Modern Day Slavery where people are being abused by unscrupulous and immoral employers but cannot report this to the police.
The Hostile Environment must end. A Fair Immigration System requires a Just Legal System. Sajid Javid the Home Secretary deserves credit for dismantling the Apparatus of the Hostile Environment, but it needs to continue and to be comprehensive.
