Delamere Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Delamere Forest Camping And Caravaning Club Site Description

Enjoy walking, cycling, Go Ape and concerts from our forest-based site nr Chester.

Cheshire’s largest area of woodland surrounds our Delamere Forest Club campsite. Located in the west of the county near Chester, Delamere Forest covers some 950 hectares providing outdoor lovers with boundless walking and cycling opportunities on its network of paths and trails direct from the campsite. There’s a Go Ape! course too – with zip wires and Tarzan swings - for those with a head for heights.

The mixed deciduous and evergreen trees of the forest surround the campsite. These green surroundings complement the campsite’s many environmentally-friendly features. The excellent on site facilities include a parent and child shower room, laundry and washing area in addition to showers and toilets. The site shop stocks the essentials, further afield RM Wilding and The Hollies farm shops supply a wider range of produce.

In nearby Delamere, Abbeywood Gardens incorporates a two kilometre wildlife walk, while Stonyford Cottage Gardens at Northwich has a woodland walk. Enjoy a boat trip along the River Weaver at the Anderton Boat Lift also near Northwich. The campsite is also handy for Oulton Park motor racing circuit near Tarporley.

To venture further afield, you can catch a train at Delamere station a short walk from the campsite where regular services operate to Manchester and Chester.

We use this site twice a year, summer for the concerts and December so that we can use the train to go Christmas shopping.

We have just returned from our concert weekend and have had a wonderful time. The site is spotless especially the toilet/shower block despite the weather on the Saturday night and the volume of guests. The atmosphere on the site was very friendly, we had some lovely chats with the wardens even though they were very busy with the quick turnaround of guests. There isn't anything negative that I can add to this review in fact I think the site has improved, in the past it sometimes seemed a bit regimental but is now more relaxed without compromising the welfare of the guests.

We have been to Delamere many times it a pretty local site to us..its clean which is all you need. We walk for miles & miles every time we come (4 boys under 5) we have done the gruffalo trail, download the app & today we have done our own scavenger hunt around the forest..it would be an excellent base for Manchester Christmas markets the train station is just next door..see you in the new year

Very helpful staff clean and tidy facilities close to the delamere forrest live arena if attending any of the shows. Very.peaceful site.

Very friendly staff. Quickly shown to our pitch. Very accommodating re having 2 vans side by side even when not showing that availability. Very clean facilities. Well kept pitches & surrounding areas. Easy access to forest.

There is some road noise & the train station is close by but didn't bother us too much. No ball games allowed so great in that respect.

This is our 2nd visit but not our last.

Our first visit in our Motorhome. The site had excellent facilities, welcoming staff, a spacious feel and miles of walks and cycle tracks to explore. Forgot to mention the station right next door, for a day out to Chester or Manchester.

User

Our first time at a"concert" and it was amazing right through to the toilet attendant on disabled nothing was a problem to all the staff I felt like royalty even given a lift in a van from the car park as I have difficulty walking So a big thank you to all who worked the Rick Astley concert

User

Our favourite site. We have been here many times. We have 2 dogs and it is ideal, straight out of the caravan and into the forest. Lovely walk around the lake too. Facilities are excellent and staff are very helpful. Even had a lesson in caravan reversing x

Just returned from a 3 night stay. Great little site. Clean facilities. Easy access to forest walks/cycle path. Fabulous team of wardens. Thank you Karen, Paul, Brenda and Jim. You're doing a great job

User

It's our local favourite. 1 hr from home it's on the edge of Delamere Forest, literally walk off the site into the woods. Miles upon miles of woodland walks including the Gruffalo Trail or for older kids Go Ape. Bike and segway hire less than mile from site. Plus woodland cafe.Railway stn next to site. Pubs 1 mile each way from site. Chester 15 mins away as is Cheshire Oaks retail park. Lots of national trust nearby. Site is immaculate. No kids play area but hey there is a huge forest to educate and tire your kids with. Toilets are extremely clean and free showers and hot. Coded to stop hikers using and ruining them. Small club shop. Freezer pack hire. Chippy van each fri evening. Some road noise, woods on each side of road stops noise from fading and noise of geese etc early hrs and late evening from nearby moss lake but again do a full day plus some wine n beers you soon drop off and dont hear it.

Great site, ideal for walking, nearby dog friendly pubs and so peaceful....a little bit of heaven made special by Karen, Paul, Jim & Brenda the warden team, fab people, eager to help, extremely welcoming and the humour is a real bonus. Excellent job guys.

User

First time camping with my granddaughters, so decided to stay local and booked 3 nights.

Facilities are great, spotlessly clean and tidy and all the staff were amazing and very helpful beyond the call of duty.

Had a great time, didn't realise how much Delamere Forest had to offer. I'm so impressed that I joined the Camping and Caravanning Club and will definitely be booking this site again for a longer stay.

User

Fabulous campsite with great facilities and beautiful walks straight from the site. Only spent one night and had to leave early but the time I spent at the site was lovely. The bonus - lots of baby bunnies running about the place x

User

Excellent facilities, quiet and picturesque with beautiful walks starting from your camper van. Site supervisors we’re MORE than helpful, knowledgeable, chatty, friendly and made the stay even nicer, they are an asset to the Caravan and Camping Club as representatives.

Will DEFFO be going back.

Forest visitor centre in easy walking distance with lovely café serving food and drinks. Railway station nearby for easy access and day trips. Great for families and anyone. Always enjoy being there! Have had a great couple of days

A great campsite backing onto the woods of delamere forest. We loved the campsite and felt loved from the moment we checked in. My children had a great time exploring the woods and even found a rope swing behind the campsite. The staff were welcoming and friendly and facilities clean and functional. Lots to do around the area and would personally recommend Chester Zoo, Ice Cream Farm and the Gruffalo Trail in delamere forest. My eldest (5years old) claims delamere is her favourite camp site ever!

Went here on the first trip after buying a new caravan so everything we had to get used too. Staff are willing to help and advise you if they can, two grandchildren came and the two dogs went into the delamere forest and go ape centre to which was a good day out with half marathon muddy run if you felt really energetic and a gruffalo hunt for younger children.

Weather was good, sunny caravan site clean and tidy with plenty of room between each unit, train station to Manchester or Cheshire just down the road, would come here again for a little longer as time was short on the trip.

This was our second visit. As others have said it's a lovely clean site with friendly and helpful wardens. The forest is great for walks and there is a Go Ape very close. The downside for me is that it is quite a noisy site with the railway close by and a busy road. It also seems to be on the flight path of an airport. It also gets quite busy in the toilets and showers in the morning so you might have to queue for a bit.

User

Our first time in a touring caravan and so we chose a site not too far from home. The wardens are very welcoming and helpful. We had a pitch to the back of the site near the railway and the forest entrance and it was good, water pipe across the road from us. We had a very experienced and helpful neighbour who was on hand to help if we needed it. The dog loves the forest walks.

The facilities are clean and the showers are hot, a little too hot if anything especially after the hot weather we've had. My only negative is no music in the toilets. As I said we're new to touring but have stayed in statics and from what I remember music was played to distract from those windy moments

Lovely site and we will be back .

User

Lovely site. Well kept and friendly staff. Would question lack of flexibility of requesting extra car on our pitch when the site was half empty - not best that we had 2 cars so my husband could commute to work and he had to leave car overnight out of sight when there was so much room around us. And also lots of road (and a little rail) noise so wasn't quietest - bring ear plugs - but great location.
