Went here for mums 70th birthday. Arthur our waiter looked after us, he made an effort with everyone at the table and was a right laugh while being great at his job!

We could take our time and relax. We were waiting on some of our party and we weren’t rushed or made to hurry, it was so welcoming.

The food was lovely, there was something for everyone - great portion sizes - went home stuffed!!!! Will definitely be going back!

Went for tea with my friend fabulous food and good customer service from Ralph with his fabulous personality nothing was too much trouble for him

We where a party of 21 who turned out to be 22. That was no problem! From booking to delivering all the meals the staff could not do enough for us all. The food is very good too! I had Salmon for the main and was lovely. Well done accommodating all our party. We will cert be back next year when you have had the refit and are a beefeater. Christmas meals are not easy to plan but you helped me make it a huge success.

We had a family get together for 18 members of our family. Baby, young children and adults (8.10.2017) They managed to get us all in on the same table without being squashed in. Service and food was excellent, The young girl who served us was attentive without being obtrusive. Getting 18 starters, meals and desserts all out to our table so we all ate together must have been difficult for the kitchen and waiting on staff, but they managed and everyone in our group had a very enjoyable afternoon. Many thanks and hope to see you again

It's so easy for places like this to get it horribly wrong but my experience from today's visit was very enjoyable.... service was excellent (don't remember the lads name but he was in his 20s and had a tattoo behind his ear).... food was cooked very well (i had the sea bass) and it was obvious the chefs care as the presentation was on par with the cooking... it was also a very nice pint (or 3) too... would highly recommend place and also encourage people to give it a try.

I was served by pearl and a young male, I did not have a reservation and attended with my dad and son, service was quick and food was lovely and hot. I forgot to order peppercorn sauce for steak. When I asked for it when meals came this was served quickly to enjoy with meal, excellent service for staff who served me. Wish I had got the males name. I only remember pearl as my son had never heard this name before and commented on it x

Suprised that this was my first ever visit ...dont recall any other occasion... had a steak pie with mash and greens... the merlot was good as was the meal....mostly though enjoyed my friends... will go again in the spring and summer.

Lovely breakfast, took my four young granddaughters, staff were lovely with them despite being busy, good and varied breakfast, good value too, £8.99 and the children are free ( 2 free for each paying adult)

Came here yesterday for a late lunch as we live local. I had the fish and chips which was excellent and my partner had Seabass and said that really good. My son had the spinach and ricotta lasagne and although he couldn't finish it as the portion size was quite large he said it was very nice. Please could a big thank you be passed to our waiter Arthur who we couldn't fault. He was friendly, attentive and very professional and because of him we decided to back one for Arthur at the Grand National and won.

My friend and I pop in most Thursday's for and afternoon bottle of wine and something to eat, however yesterday we found the service not to be very good. We asked if the white wine was medium only to be told "I don't know, we're not a wine bar"

Then we had to sit all afternoon with dirty plates in front of us as nobody came to take them away

I do like the derby lodge but it could be so much better. I normally go once a week for lunch and always get served by Pearl who is lovely. Yesterday I went for tea. Had a nice meal as usual but what let’s the place down is the lack of staff. There needed to be more people on duty for the amount of customers in. Because of the small amount of staff people were waiting too long to be served at the bar and tables were not getting cleaned in a timely manner. The staff that were on were run ragged and fighting a loosing battle. Will go back in the evening because the food was good and the setting perfect but please employ more people.

Had a Sunday lunch here 22nd July .x Table straight away , had to wait some time brwtern courses , Sunday lunch was nice although husband beef was very chewey , girl was lovely serving us although at one point she was very upset and cleary been crying ( nit sure what happened ) but she was a lovely server we never saw her again . Next server ok but git our bills mixed up with other table who were charged for our desserts . In the end sorted but think a bit more detail required re time and service .

3 of us had steak wasn't good not cooked as we'd asked really didn't enjoy the meal. Guy serving was nice and I love the place the food really let's it down though. I had vouchers wouldn't gave gone if I didn't would not have been happy paying £60. Shame

I only live local and I was here last Thursday evening with my mate and his baby and there was no dramas however I booked a table last night for 17:15 arrived in time met at front of house by a woman who a face like a warrant and her greeting was very poor and she picked up two menus and mumbled something and led the way as we followed she casually remarked there's no roast dinners left . With that I casuslly about turned and left with my daughter We only come here for a roast so I could catch up with my 20 year old and spend some quality time with her and I'm quick to reward good service and staff who care and enjoy their job this woman obviously doesn't so we left and went the village hotel

went here on boxing day are meal was pre booked for 6 started to get are meal at 7 which was awfull the roast potatoe's seemed to have been standing for age's plus we pre booked are desert mince cheese cake which they had non left thought if we had pre booked are meal you should of had enough left for us plus half of us got pig's in blanket's and half never would not go here again, we were a family of 15 as well. plus service could do better

Visited yesterday evening after booking a table with my sister and elderly mother. We were left waiting at the desk for longer than we should have - could see staff talking to each other inside the restaurant. Our waitress was miserable to say the least! Service was very slow and it took ages for our drinks to arrive and we never got the jug of water we requested. My meal (sea bass ) was ok although the vegeatables weren’t great. My sister ordered lamb rump (medium). It arrived and was at least half fat and very little meat. It was also well done rather than medium. Towards the end of our meal we had a check back from the same waitress who when told the lamb wasn’t good just said ‘oh well Lamb is fatty’ and walked away! Appalling service and I would hesitate to go back because of it! Whatever happened to customer service? I am not a serial complainer but it would have been nice to have some acknowledgement from the member of staff.

Had a table booked for Wednesday 25th July for my Son's 21st Birthday and my youngest son's 2nd birthday for 6pm for 11 people. Obviously I thought they'd be prepared for a large party,his wrong can you be. Waited an hour for starters then another hour for mains. Most of which were under whelming and over priced for what you got. 2 hours of our 3 hour visit were spent waiting. And a glass of coke we ordered smelt like it had toilet cleaner added. Not what I wanted for my Son's 21st Birthday. It put a real dampener on the day. I also lost something that night and rang to see if it had been handed in only to be told I'd have to wait for the manager who was in on the night to come in and check then ring me. Are other members if staff not allowed too check? I really feel the staff couldn't organise a booze up in a brewery!

What a great setting for a restaurant . Food was lovely and the lady who served us was great. Thank you.

Went here for mums 70th birthday. Arthur our waiter looked after us, he made an effort with everyone at the table and was a right laugh while being great at his job!

We could take our time and relax. We were waiting on some of our party and we weren’t rushed or made to hurry, it was so welcoming.

The food was lovely, there was something for everyone - great portion sizes - went home stuffed!!!! Will definitely be going back!

Went for tea with my friend fabulous food and good customer service from Ralph with his fabulous personality nothing was too much trouble for him

We where a party of 21 who turned out to be 22. That was no problem! From booking to delivering all the meals the staff could not do enough for us all. The food is very good too! I had Salmon for the main and was lovely. Well done accommodating all our party. We will cert be back next year when you have had the refit and are a beefeater. Christmas meals are not easy to plan but you helped me make it a huge success.

We had a family get together for 18 members of our family. Baby, young children and adults (8.10.2017) They managed to get us all in on the same table without being squashed in. Service and food was excellent, The young girl who served us was attentive without being obtrusive. Getting 18 starters, meals and desserts all out to our table so we all ate together must have been difficult for the kitchen and waiting on staff, but they managed and everyone in our group had a very enjoyable afternoon. It's so easy for places like this to get it horribly wrong but my experience from today's visit was very enjoyable.... service was excellent (don't remember the lads name but he was in his 20s and had a tattoo behind his ear).... food was cooked very well (i had the sea bass) and it was obvious the chefs care as the presentation was on par with the cooking... it was also a very nice pint (or 3) too... would highly recommend place and also encourage people to give it a try.

I was served by pearl and a young male, I did not have a reservation and attended with my dad and son, service was quick and food was lovely and hot. I forgot to order peppercorn sauce for steak. When I asked for it when meals came this was served quickly to enjoy with meal, excellent service for staff who served me. Wish I had got the males name. I only remember pearl as my son had never heard this name before and commented on it x

Suprised that this was my first ever visit ...dont recall any other occasion... had a steak pie with mash and greens... the merlot was good as was the meal....mostly though enjoyed my friends... will go again in the spring and summer.

Lovely breakfast, took my four young granddaughters, staff were lovely with them despite being busy, good and varied breakfast, good value too, £8.99 and the children are free ( 2 free for each paying adult)

Came here yesterday for a late lunch as we live local. I had the fish and chips which was excellent and my partner had Seabass and said that really good. My son had the spinach and ricotta lasagne and although he couldn't finish it as the portion size was quite large he said it was very nice. Please could a big thank you be passed to our waiter Arthur who we couldn't fault. He was friendly, attentive and very professional and because of him we decided to back one for Arthur at the Grand National and won.

My friend and I pop in most Thursday's for and afternoon bottle of wine and something to eat, however yesterday we found the service not to be very good. We asked if the white wine was medium only to be told "I don't know, we're not a wine bar"

Then we had to sit all afternoon with dirty plates in front of us as nobody came to take them away

I do like the derby lodge but it could be so much better. I normally go once a week for lunch and always get served by Pearl who is lovely. Yesterday I went for tea. Had a nice meal as usual but what let’s the place down is the lack of staff. There needed to be more people on duty for the amount of customers in. Because of the small amount of staff people were waiting too long to be served at the bar and tables were not getting cleaned in a timely manner. The staff that were on were run ragged and fighting a loosing battle. Will go back in the evening because the food was good and the setting perfect but please employ more people.

Had a Sunday lunch here 22nd July .x Table straight away , had to wait some time brwtern courses , Sunday lunch was nice although husband beef was very chewey , girl was lovely serving us although at one point she was very upset and cleary been crying ( nit sure what happened ) but she was a lovely server we never saw her again . Next server ok but git our bills mixed up with other table who were charged for our desserts . In the end sorted but think a bit more detail required re time and service .

3 of us had steak wasn't good not cooked as we'd asked really didn't enjoy the meal. Guy serving was nice and I love the place the food really let's it down though. I had vouchers wouldn't gave gone if I didn't would not have been happy paying £60. Shame

I only live local and I was here last Thursday evening with my mate and his baby and there was no dramas however I booked a table last night for 17:15 arrived in time met at front of house by a woman who a face like a warrant and her greeting was very poor and she picked up two menus and mumbled something and led the way as we followed she casually remarked there's no roast dinners left . With that I casuslly about turned and left with my daughter We only come here for a roast so I could catch up with my 20 year old and spend some quality time with her and I'm quick to reward good service and staff who care and enjoy their job this woman obviously doesn't so we left and went the village hotel

went here on boxing day are meal was pre booked for 6 started to get are meal at 7 which was awfull the roast potatoe's seemed to have been standing for age's plus we pre booked are desert mince cheese cake which they had non left thought if we had pre booked are meal you should of had enough left for us plus half of us got pig's in blanket's and half never would not go here again, we were a family of 15 as well. plus service could do better

Visited yesterday evening after booking a table with my sister and elderly mother. We were left waiting at the desk for longer than we should have - could see staff talking to each other inside the restaurant. Our waitress was miserable to say the least! Service was very slow and it took ages for our drinks to arrive and we never got the jug of water we requested. My meal (sea bass ) was ok although the vegeatables weren’t great. My sister ordered lamb rump (medium). It arrived and was at least half fat and very little meat. It was also well done rather than medium. Towards the end of our meal we had a check back from the same waitress who when told the lamb wasn’t good just said ‘oh well Lamb is fatty’ and walked away! Appalling service and I would hesitate to go back because of it! Whatever happened to customer service? I am not a serial complainer but it would have been nice to have some acknowledgement from the member of staff.

Had a table booked for Wednesday 25th July for my Son's 21st Birthday and my youngest son's 2nd birthday for 6pm for 11 people. Obviously I thought they'd be prepared for a large party,his wrong can you be. Waited an hour for starters then another hour for mains. Most of which were under whelming and over priced for what you got. 2 hours of our 3 hour visit were spent waiting. And a glass of coke we ordered smelt like it had toilet cleaner added. Not what I wanted for my Son's 21st Birthday. It put a real dampener on the day.
