just got back after a night there and it was brilliant . from when we arrived to leaving. beautiful room and the meals were fantastic and really enjoyed the spa. can't wait to go again..

User

We had our second stay at the Devonshire Arms on Sunday night and this time we brought our Dog, Millie with us. Just as with our last stay, the service, food, room and staff friendliness were absolutely fantastic.... nothing is too much trouble and all the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is just gorgeous and the food in the Brasserie and in the bar was delicious. But the real winner was the Concierge service that is offered for dogs.... not only was Millie welcomed at reception, bowls and a treat were waiting for her in the room, but when we went for dinner we were able to leave her at reception on a nice comfy bed, safely hooked up, surrounded by other resident dogs, the hotel staff and anyone that stopped to stroke her! she didn't have to be left alone in a hotel room and she was so happy!!! the to top it off we were able to visit the spa knowing that she was happy! We'll definitely be back!

User

We had a wonderful day in the spa and afternoon in the hotel, it was to celebrate our daugter Danni’s 21st birthday, I did remind them twice of the occasion, and lady that attour table did say they’d do something special for her, it’s just a shame they didn’t, maybe a cupcake with a candle. I know I’m sounding a bit petty.

It didn’t spoil the though, and the treatment were wonderful

Thank you

We arrived a bit early for our pre-booked helicopter ride and were greeted by friendly staff. We were served coffee on the terrace outside, which was a lovely, relaxing way to start our afternoon, then when the helicopter landed we were led to it, and greeted by a friendly young chap who made sure we were strapped in and ready to go. What a fabulous trip we had, flying over the Dales countryside, with the pilot pointing out landmarks and spectacular views. We loved every minute, such an amazing way to see the countryside and beauty spots such as Bolton Abbey and Simon's Seat. When we landed, back at the Devonshire Arms, we enjoyed a fabulous afternoon tea with a glass of bubbly. The staff were efficient and attentive and made us feel special. It's a beautiful place, with wonderful country house charm. We were reluctant to leave, and already planning our next visit. The helicopter ride and afternoon tea package is a perfect treat for a birthday or other occasion. We will always remember it.

Visited over the weekend and loved it here! The room was lovely with a fantastic view! Loved the spa and had the prenatal massage which was fab, and loved the pool too. Although I couldn't use the steam room or sauna due to my pregnancy I loved the "experience" shower and enjoyed a Caribbean mist and a tropical rain we ate in the brasserie which was superb, for both food and service, highly recommend the bacon chop. Loved the dog lounge as we had our dog Enzo with us, and he was made more than welcome all through our stay. Staff were great and really couldn't fault it at all, would definitely recommend! Add to that the lovely walks and it was the perfect 2 days

User

Spent a lovely, relaxing couple of hours here partaking in afternoon tea. The sandwiches and cakes were delicious. We were extremely well looked after, especially when my six month old granddaughter was a bit grumpy! The lovely waitress went out of her way to accommodate us in a more private area. Highly recommend this splendid hotel!

User

My husband surprised me for our 25th wedding anniversary, we had a massage, sauna, and a swim then had a beautiful meal in the brassiere, the room was lovely with a four poster bed, the staff couldn’t do enough for us, they were very helpful and friendly, the whole place was lovely and clean, and they are dog friendly, it is a must if you was thinking of a break.

User

Just like to say we called in to the Devonshire Arms for a bite to eat before visiting Bolton Abbey on Saturday gone. The staff were welcoming and polite. One of the staff showed us to a table outside and gave us some menus to peruse. My wife and myself ordered the Dev burger and Chicken Goujons for our toddler son. We did think it was a little pricey? However when the food arrived it looked delicious. We proceeded to tuck into our fayre and were delighted with the high quality of the food, our son seemed delighted with his Chicken , fries n peas and my wife and I both commented that this was probably the best burger we had ever had, it was perfectly seasoned, juicy and tender with just the right amount of garnish. The chips were triple cooked and tasted divine. A little side salad topped off the meal. As said previously the price was high but for food that good we didn’t mind paying that little bit extra. Our son polished his off in no time and he seemed to enjoy his as much as we did ours. I would highly recommend this place, it’s in a beautiful setting and is within walking distance of the Abbey itself, if you were to be staying at the Hotel. Most definitely a five star experience.

User

I never normally leave reviews but my husband and I have just spent an amazing weekend here celebrating our wedding anniversary. The surroundings are beautiful, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the deluxe double room we had was excellent. What made it extra special was the added extras in our room, the complimentary home made ginger cake, shortbread biscuits, nespresso coffee machine and our box of chocolate truffles and anniversary card. The little touches really do make a difference. I would definitely recommend a stay here and we will undoubtedly be returning.

User

I never leave reviews but after reading some mixed reviews I thought I'd share our experience. The whole setting is beautiful, the staff are all polite and welcoming. My only negative is when we were checking in and getting told the times for our treatments they missed off our facial, i had to remind them I had a facial booked or I don't know if we would of got our treatment. Other than that it was a brilliant day, the risul is amazing so relaxing and set the whole day off with high expectations. I fell asleep throughout the facial with Sarah, highly recommend the hydrating facial with her! we also had a 25 back massage which was brilliant just not long enough. The afternoon tea was perfect. Definitely re booking!!

User

I don't usually leave reviews but this time I had to! We had afternoon tea here yesterday 4 adults and 3 young children. My Gran being one of the adults is the hardest person to please ever!! she moans about something everywhere we go! It can be small or big but she'll always find something!

To my astonishment she didn't moan once! she loved it all! The staff were friendly, the food was delicious, the place was amazing and clean! thank you for a lovely afternoon! safe to say we shall be back

User

Had to review the hotel and restaurant, as some reviews seem to be about the spa alone. From before we arrived, the staff have gone out of their way to accommodate us. Our stay here had to be re-arranged owing to work commitments. This was done without any bother.

The hotel is dog friendly, great for us because we can bring our dog. There are some dog free rooms and dog free areas within the hotel too. Well behaved dogs can stay in the room while you dine, or reception has a “dog sitting” area if you prefer.

Owing to the change of dates for our stay, we couldn’t have the room we originally booked, but frankly we still had a 4 poster bed and a lovely marble bathroom, so no grumbles.

The food is delicious and consistently so, whether it’s dinner or breakfast.

There are fabulous walks nearby, plus a steam railway and more (if you can tear yourself away from the many cosy lounge areas and the fantastic magazines dotted about the place). A lovely place to unwind.

User

From the moment we got there till the moment we left staff were amazing, helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. The spa was lovely and clean and the mud Rasul treatment we had was fantastic. We also had afternoon tea which was so delicious and the staff in the restaurant were friendly and helpful.

All round an amazing day and we will come again. Thankyou ☺️

From the moment we got out of the car a staff member insisted on taking our bags for us.We were instantly greeted by reception as we entered which was very welcoming. Our room wasn't quite ready as we were early so we had a drink in the garden. The waitress was very friendly and welcoming. On entering our room which had a lovely garden view as I requested and i was given a birthday card and a small box of chocolates. This was a lovely gesture as I had mentioned it was my birthday when I booked. Our bedroom although in need of a lick of paint and freshening up was fine for us. The complimentary items such as parking, crisps and shortbread not to mention the fantastic coffee machine in the room were a great touch. We headed to the spa which is over the road as we had previously booked facials. The spa staff were friendly and welcoming. The facials were amazing and a real relaxing treat. It is a little on the small side but we went midweek and it was very quiet. We had our 6 taster meal in the Burlington restaurant. The food was beautifully executed and the flavours were fantastic. The waiter was lovely very attentive and explained each course in detail. Yes the drinks are expensive but we saw it as a treat so allowed ourselves a few. Breakfast the next morning was lovely very tasty and satisfying. As hotel guests you get a free pass to park in the village so Bolton Abbey can be explored and is only down the road which is a lovely bonus.

The surroundings are thoroughly beautiful and peaceful which maybe the reason why certain things cost a premium. Other reviews moan about the 5 percent levy that is added to the bill this is clearly stated online and from our experience well deserved. Money isn't something we have in abundance by any means so this we considered a special treat. I feel our experience was special and well worth the money. We will definitely return.

Amazing spa experience and the staff could not do enough for us. The grounds and location was absolutely perfect and the afternoon tea was delicious 😋

We have just returned from a spa package my husband booked me for Christmas, what a lovely hotel and the staff we came across were so lovely and welcoming, food was out of this world and the spa was fantastic, the only few points I would say was I sent a email asking about treatment times which I never got a response this lead to us turning up to the spa a few minutes after our treatments were about to begin and rushing around, the second was we tried to get room service after 30 minutes of calling my sister had to go into the cocktail lounge to find a member of staff this was at 20:45 so not past the time they stated we could order, other than that was a lovely stay and would definitely recommend.

User

We had a lovely day but unfortunately for me the bed situation let the whole experience down, as we were the first two booked in for the Raysul mud experience at 10am I didn’t think we would have a problem being able to relax on the loungers around the poolside at some point throughout the day but to my amazement the lounger were occupied all day with the same 4 people as they were allowed to leave their towels and belongings on them while having they were having their treatment which we found extremely frustrating, inconsiderate and rude. I feel when a member of staff tells customers it’s there turn for their treatment they should be asking them to removed all their belongings giving others the opportunity to also relax on the loungers around the poolside. The afternoon tea was amazing, I thought £9.50 for a glass of procecco was extremely expensive but nice to relax with a glass of fizz to finish our day. I was very tempted to rebook this experience for myself and my husband but the lounger situation does put me off. As I feel you need somewhere to relax after you’ve had enough Of the spa facilities.

Lovely building and location but a bit of a letdown to be honest. The spa is small and doesn't have a spa pool hydrotherapy circuit or decent cool down and relax area. The jacuzzi was being repaired so was out of order and our relaxing treat was accompanied by builders noise (can't fault the team on duty, they did explain and apologise but it's a bit late to learn of on arrival). Changing area cubicles had grubby paintwork and dust laden radiators, whole spa needed a deep and thorough cleaning - dirty skirting, cloudy dirty feature windows, black built up mould around pool grab rail, drooping ceiling tiles outside steam room and sauna. Rasul room is nice, clearly new. Experience shower was good. Shame there wasn't ANY hot water to the showers or sinks - unpleasant. Afternoon tea couldn't be prepared an hour earlier for us (we couldn't have spent more than the 2 hours we did in the spa for above reasons). We then had to wait for it and go find a waiter to ask for tea to accompany it before the sandwiches curled! Based on a day experience we won't be returning for any overnight stays though we may try the brasserie as the food smelled good and there's a nice terrace.
