As an essential part of our Ophthalmology Residents' training to become Specialists, they must learn to examine the equine eye. Yesterday evening, our 4 Residents , under the supervision of Specialist James Oliver, examined 13 horses of varying shapes and size, including Nero and Proxy seen in these photos. Many thanks to Westbrink Farms, near Newmarket, for facilitating this.

Buttons is an Education Dog for Wood Green Animals Charity, from where he was re-homed as a 10-week old puppy. His owner Natalie brings him in for regular hydrotherapy sessions to help the osteoarthritis that developed after an injury sustained when he was younger. Great work Buttons and our awesome Physiotherapy Team!

Meet Smudge who belongs to one of our nursing team. Smudge's left eye was affected by a total cataract causing blindness. However, this was removed by Senior Ophthalmologist Heidi Featherstone who then placed a specially designed artificial lens in her eye. She is doing really well since her operation and her vision has been restored - making her and her owner very happy!

Would like to thank all the staff at DWR and especially Rachel Miller for what they done over the last 3 months for my Dexter. Yesterday sadly the cancer got the better of him and had to make that dreaded decision. Along with the help of Rachel Miller we tried everything we could for Dexter but in the end it got to much for him. Rachels enthusiasm and dedication to the job is truly amazing and il never forget what she done for us. Yesterday was heartbreaking for me, Rachel showed Dexter so much respect and i felt humbled by how she went about it all letting my little man drift to sleep in my arms. I will miss you so so much Dexter. Forever in my heart until we meet again. Go chase balls and lay in the sun my little superstar

Wonderful service!!! Took my pup in as an emergency. Kept in contact on a daily basis and were detailed in their findings.

It was a very worrying experience and being away from my pup for the weekend was a struggle but knowing that he was looked after, cared for and kept comfortable was extremely comforting and kept me positive.

I couldn't fault the care my pup had!!! Thank you for all your help and the support you gave to my pup and myself! It is very appreciated.

When Stanley went off his food we knew something was up so we took him to our local vets who found a lump in his intestines and referred him straight away to Dick White. When your cat is poorly and you hear the words lump, scan and biopsy it is a scary time. All the staff at Dick White were so wonderful and caring. They made the whole nasty experience that little bit less scary for us. Thank you. They cared for Stanley for 3 nights while they tried to get to the bottom of his enlarged lymph node. Thankfully it was nothing too serious and he is now back to full health and is a very happy kitty again!

User

Thank you to all the staff at DWR who helped look after my darling Willow. Especially the Neurology team. Willow is an 11 year old Chocolate Labrador and had two spinal ops with some complications along the way and an 12 day stay. She is now home and recovering and is a different dog compared to the one I had in pain before she came to you.

Forever thankful xx

User

Thank you so much for all that you have done for Betty. From her late night admission, 9 day stay & outpatient visits nothing has been too much trouble & I was kept fully informed all the way through. Special thanks to Cecilia & the vet nurses for their expertise - I now have my special girl back x

Shenzi is home in time for her birthday tomorrow after being in intensive care for meningitis and seizures. She has developed polyarthritis as a result of the insult to her immune system and has been very poorly indeed. We have a long road ahead to total recovery but she's here and on the mend. Thank you so much to everyone at Dick White Referrals for all the wonderful care you gave to our precious girl xxx

Our dog Milo was referred here just over a week ago following an accident. During the last week we have been 4 times, 2 of which he needed to be admitted. Although he is still receiving treatment and probably will be for some time yet, I can not praise the staff highly enough for the treatment and care they have provided so far. Alessandro has been absolutely fantastic and always takes the time to explain everything, ensuring we know what’s happening and keeps us updated with regular calls when Milo has needed to stay in. All of the staff have been incredibly welcoming and helpful. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. Although it has been a horrible time for us it has been a big relief to know Milo is in such safe hands.

Our darling Betsie arrived at Dick Whites with a twisted gut and a very small chance of survival. After having 57% of her small intestine removed, 5 days later we had her home, safe and sound acting like nothing had happened. The staff at Dick Whites have been absolutely amazing and treated her like royalty over the past 4 weeks, during her time there and at home. Today was her last check up and she’s absolutely fine, our little miracle pup! We’re so proud of her and Dick Whites for saving our little dotty dolly. We cannot thank you all enough, there really aren’t enough words to say how grateful we are. You’re amazing! Betsie may be your first, but we know she won’t be your last. A massive thank you and congratulations from the Menditta family

One of the best vets in my opinion if you moan about price you don't love your animal no money could prove how well this place is run in my opinion my dog had a bleed on the heart they checked him a few times a day to make sure nothing else was wrong and done everything I had asked of them he is still alive with one vets told me to leave him over night witch would of been the worst option plus asking me witch food he would love (chicken and ham) witch he got! Gave me an estimate and it was in them ranges not over! Ruth was brilliant rung me everytime to update me! My Shep is now home and recovering well! Would recommend highly! Thank you so much!

My dog max was rushed to Dick white referral centre as an emergency

He had a nasty suspected neurological condition.

On arrival at Dick white he was seen by the neurological vet Giunio Cherubini

He was excellent, he commenced medications and organised several tests.

My dog was kept in for a few days and fortunately with excellent care and diagnosis, the condition turned out to be treatable and not as bad as I feared.

Giunio is an outstanding vet. His prompt care and expertise definitely impacted on my dogs recovery.

The follow up treatment and availability of advise has aided in my dogs recovery.

I cannot thank him and his team for all they did.

I highly recommend him and the veterinary practice.

A big thank you Giunio

From dawn and her very happy cavalier King Charles spaniel

Max.

My dog Dudlee was referred to Dick Whites at the end of January. After doing some tests they diagnosed him with lymphoma, we discussed treatment options and shortly after began his course of chemo. This required us to take Dudlee every 3 weeks for a blood test and to have his chemo administered. The vets and reception staff were always fantastic and his vet would always be happy to answer any questions i had. Sadly we lost Dudlee last week, he couldnt fight anymore. I want to thank Simon, Ari and the rest of the staff for the love and care they gave to my boy.

User

My French bulldog Roxy slipped a disc in her back last Sunday and has finally come home today after her MRI and surgery. The care they have given has been second to none. Being rushed in as an emergency and a blubbering mess everyone was amazing and so reassuring at such a difficult and scary time. Special thanks to Ana Maria she was so so kind. Keep up the good work. I feel blessed to have such an organisation on our doorstep!! THANK YOU xx

Just spent the afternoon at Dick White Referrals, having my little rescue dog, Rex's, heart and lungs checked, after discovering a murmur and a cough recently. I can't praise the clinic high enough - a fantastic place with wonderful staff - all incredibly busy, but all giving time and their complete attention to each case. Rex loved meeting so many new dogs, and worked his doggy charm on all the staff too. Thank you so much.

I recently took my baby there “pug” for surgery on her airways unfortunately it didn’t turn out as planned my princess went down hill the day after surgery she panicked and was distressed pulling her drip out so she was sedated which was when she vomited it went straight to her lungs ....she was on a ventilator for 3 days seemed to be trying to fight it sadly her heart stopped and with resuscitation she didn’t come back this has felt like a nightmare but I can honestly say I do believe they tried everything possible for my princess ...regular phone calls and even phone calls after she passed away as they new I really wasn’t coping at all

User

Can't thank the team at Dick Whites enough for all they have done for my Charlie.

Unfortunately out of all the battles he faced over the years, sadly this was one battle my Charlie was unable to fight.

I know Charlie always enjoyed his stays at Dick Whites, despite how poorly he was during his many visits over the years. But the care and attention he received from ALL the staff at Dick Whites from the Receptionists to the Nurses to the Specialists, and everyone else, always made it easy for me and my Husband to leave him in your care.

As the team know, sadly we lost our Charlie last week after a short battle, but the team really did all they could for him - and we will be forever grateful for the kindness and sensitivity shown to us when we returned with our baby boy.

Thank you

User

Can not recommend this specialist centre enough. My dog Mindy had a slipped disc and the team at Dick White helped her to relieve her pain and walk properly again. Mindy was so excited to see the specialist surgeon Anna again her tail did not stop wagging and she couldn't lick her enough. I believe that this shows you how well she was treated behind closed doors away from the public eye. Thank you the Dick white team.

User

Absolutely amazing.. my dog Buster attended back in 2015 and could not walk at all, he had a serious operation and then was a little bit better. But after 10 full long days of physio, and major work he got better and better, then he came home and was trained to walk again, after vet visits buster is doing fabulous.. back up and running..

I just wanted to say a huge thanks to the team who called me everyday to keep me updated on Busters Progress, I only got to shake the vets hand but I can't thank you enough..

Thanks again for helping my buster get better

Kind regards

We came to Dick White Referrals after our local vet could not operate on our Dog. We thought the service was very good and they gave our Dog expert treatment. However, we felt it was very impersonal. Already in a state of stress, when we picked up our Dog the next day, we were immediately asked by the receptionist to settle our bill, without even talking to the vet about his prognosis. Also would be good to have been given a price sheet, so we would have been fully aware of exactly how much his treatment would cost. I know you are a business, but a bit of humanity would not go amiss.

My 2 year old Maltese went to have an operation for a liver problem which needed to be corrected. Due to the complacency and carelessness of the surgeons, she caught sepsis after the surgery and passed away just 2 days later. We were never told that she caught sepsis until we were told by our standard vets nearly 2 weeks later. We've now lost a beloved family member and I never got to say goodbye to my lovely dog, and they have the audacity to charge us over £5000 for their stupidity and idiocy. Doesn't matter if you all have degrees from Nottingham University if you are shit at your jobs. Absolutely Fucking useless.
