Don't forget that, alongside 'Out of the Attic' this month, we've got an exhibition of work by Nigerian artist, Showqaz Damola, plus some of the masks we made at a series of 'masks' workshops led by Alison Burrows and based on his and other African artists' work..

Close Ups of some of the exhibits in this month's "Out of the Attic" exhibition celebrating 10 years of The Community Art Gallery in Eccles. I'll photograph more of them when I'm at the gallery this weekend and post them here. We'll be continuing this theme over the next few months - whenever we have spaces to spare - with a panel or two displaying work from artists who've exhibited with us over the last ten years ...... so if you're an artist who's exhibited with us any ...time over the last ten years and you've a painting or drawing 'in the attic' that you'd like to give an airing to, then email us on ecclescommunityart gallery@yahoo.co.uk and we'll let you know when we can hang it. Hanging space on these 'Out of the Attic' panels will be free ...... but we won't say no to a small donation to the gallery ( a £ or two ) - particularly if you sell your work !

Our new exhibition of art works from "out of the attic". Paintings from the last ten years since the Gallery was opened by our late Founder, Karen Illingworth. The exhibition also features paintings by Nigerian Artist, Showqaz Damola, which link with our previous African mask workshop with the Friday morning Gallery Art Group. The exhibition ends on Saturday, 2nd February.

I loved this post by Lynne Chapman shared via Katherine Tyrell’s “365 tips for drawing and sketching” page ( a FB Page well worth following by the way - as is Katherine Tyrell’s blog: https://makingamark.blogspot.com/?m=1 )

Starting this Thursday ( 1Oth ) at 9pm, the first of 4 episodes of new historic crafting programme from BBC 2. There’s a niggling worry at the back of my mind that it could be a bit of a formulaic hybrid .... ie dress up a few ‘experts’ in historic costume and whizz them back in time to see how crafters managed in earlier times ( “Victorian Farm”/ “The 1900 House”/ “That’ll Teach ‘em “ ), throw in a couple of eccentric presenters and there you go ! On the other hand, it could be a fascinating watch, teach us lots of things we never knew - and well worth an hour of everyone’s time !! Be interesting to see what we all think ....... https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0by3gfy
